Fantastic find, thank you!

Glad you liked it man! I loved it. I was surprised I was able to come across it.

Also, I know there were a lot more Rotting Christ fans on here when I was more active here, but for the ones who do listen to them, which album would you recommend I listen to, or which do you think is the best? I was listening to a few of their tracks, and man they are awesome...

Theogonia and Kronos are among my favorites, but all of their stuff is good.

I'm curious as to what everyone here thinks of the band The Atomic Bitchwax.
I've been playing this song on repeat for the better part of an hour> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaO7REfymwM

ahh yeah, I saw a lot of people liked Theogonia. I wasn't sure about their newest one, Aeolo (although the third track is absolutely sweet) but all of it really does sound great.

I thought Aelo was pretty good. I especially liked the title track.

They are from Norway remember ? Might just be a little gift for the fans in the area !

Is it their latest? I've heard good things about it, but never found it anywhere, which made me sad.

Also, I regret to inform anyone who cares, but the Metal Calender will not happen this year. Some stuff came up and I won't be able to get the USB cable until mid February. By that point I will be way behind my posts and way behind where I wanted to be with a backlog of posts. Sorry.

They were just able to make their latest work more interesting than what I've heard from them in the past.

Aw man, that's a blow. At least you still have 2014 to start this up so you have even more time to write everything up. Although, if you're crazy enough, you could cover TWO artists each day. :P

Oh God. That would be awful. I don't even think I have enough artists in my library to have 730 different bands. Actually, I guarantee it. I think I have like 350 or so. Tops. It's probably less, and I think that's lumping in some nonmetal bands. I shudder at the thought.

Anyways, my Top 25 is coming along well, just a few finishing touches and it'll be posted, probably in a week and a half or so. Curse college interfering with my life of music.

Also, I've been sort of dallying with folk metal, getting into a few bands that have elements, but I want to know what artists I should definitely check out. Another thing I want to get more into is American Power Metal. I've listened to a few (Manilla Road, Iced Earth, and Virgin Steele) and I really like the style. So, throw recs at me!!!

I'd give you some bands if you want....though I only have roughly 400 bands on my computer.
Granted not ALL of those are metal but its a HUGE chunk....

Yeah, 350 is overkill already. Next year I may bring back my Monday Metal Treasures in a new style. I was trying to see if I could do 52 different artists but shortlisting gets harder and harder so I'll try 104 different artists so you'll get two posts each week.

I seem to keep getting more and more good albums from 2012. I only wonder where the fuck they've been all this time.

Folk metal - How much of it have you actually listened to? As for american power metal, try Longings Past.

What days are you going to be doing that then? Or are you putting both up the same day?
Or do you even have anything figured out so far for that yet?

One on Monday like the old one but also on something like Thursday or Friday.

Only other thing I can think of is that I have yet to have a rough list down. Will need to start considering one song from at least 104 different artists. I imagine by June/July I'll have listened to tons more great material in metal to have more ideas put down. Hell, I could still be changing shit around by the time the new year starts. Same thing happened with 2011's posts where some I did write up ended up getting scrapped.

Crazy thing about my next idea here is that there is some sort of restriction throughout the year...

Response to Metal Hell 2013-01-23 20:52:56

So I finally got Diamond Head on my computer (Lightning To The Nations). So does anyone have any recommendations when it comes to other albums by them? I was considering getting Borrowed Time but for some reason didn't do so.

I also learned all of Am I Evil? except the middle of the solo....I can nail the beginning and end relatively well but that middle section always fucks me up.

Hmm....ya know I was considering doing something like this for next year (since we're already almost done with January...) but since I can't review worth a crap I'm more than likely not going to do that. I mean I could do what I did with my last newspost and put up an entire album and put the lyrics to all the songs and whatnot with a link to said album at the bottom. But that sounds a tad boring....the one I have up at the moment is Dopethrone.

Borrowed Time may be worth picking up but I'm rather cynical about it considering they had to re-record songs from the first album. Diamond Head are just a one album band to me.

Eh, I feel my reviewing skills can brush up but talking about individual songs is a lot easier than covering a whole album. That's why I was more comfortable with my Monday Metal posts than reviewing an album or a live show.

I have a hard time fairly reviewing ONE song haha xD

still not entirely sure why o.O

Also I might just post an album at the end of each month that I feel whoever comes onto my page should check out and whatnot. It would be a hell of a lot easier than reviewing stuff.
Then again I'm lazy and would more than likely forget all about doing it hahaha.

What kind of folk ? Because there is a lot, really.

In black/folk there are bands like Agalloch, Fen, Borknagar, Ulver (early), Primordial, Dark Forest, Enslaved

In more symphonic, melancholic black folk, I can name Empyrium.

Between Neoclassical, Neofolk and Folk Metal, there was the now disbanded Nachtreich. Great stuff.

In more Epic Folk, Power/Folk and Melodic Death/Folk there is stuff like Finntroll, Nomans Land, Alkonost, Ensiferum, Battlelore, Turisas, Equilibrium, Wintersun

Whatever floats your boat !

As for American power metal, I'll let the other geeks answer this :P

Windir is a nice black/folk/viking metal group that I think is worth checking out. That is, if that's the kind of folk you are looking for.

Laziness will be a huge problem. I think if I started work as soon as July I should be able to manage it well. Best looking far ahead incase I do slip here and there. That's bound to happen.

And another name for Christian Metal is White Metal.
