You know, I can never get tired of Helloween. Keepers 1 and 2 always maintain many great moments for me and even now I still find something new from them to enjoy. For knowing this band for over six years now, they have definitely lasted me well. However, that won't be a problem for Slough Feg to remain awesome for me for that long. It doesn't even feel like three years when I first discovered them.

However, their few albums are hard to come by and for being the band known for getting the term heavy metal created via magazine, you'd think more would be done for them.
They aren't that bad. The Obsessed was the band Wino was in before he joined Saint Vitus. Him joining Saint Vitus caused them to break up. Then when he left Saint Vitus they got back together with Scott Reeder on bass. Scott Reeder went on to join Kyuss and play on Welcome To Sky Valley and ....And The Circus Leaves Town. They only have 3 albums though.

So one of those bands led to Saint Vitus? There's a history for you.

Ya ever listen to Shrinebuilder?
It has Wino on guitar and vocals, Al Cisneros on bass and vocals, Scott Kelly on guitar, and Dale Crover on drums.

Yet more bands I have not checked out.

Also for Sir Lord Baltimore and Hawkwind. I don't have anything by them. Which disappoints me a great deal. Then again there are tons of bands I haven't gotten around to getting stuff for so this is nothing new.

For Hawkwind, I do recommend Hall of the Mountain Grill. Side A is really trippy and I say Side A since it all feels like they join together.

I know I'm really late on this news but I have to pay my respect in every way I can to the greatest black metal musician in history, Trondr Nefas of Urgehal. My favorite black metal band of all time lost pretty much everything and I am absolutely devastated. I still can't believe it. Trondr will be in our hearts forever and his soul will live on, hail black metal \m/

Indeed it is.

I highly recommend them. They only have one studio album and a live album at the moment.

Hmm...thanks for the recommendation.

I say their album Souvernis d'un autre monde is a masterpiece. I think Neige managed to create something unique with this project. And happy is definitely not a word I would use to describe Alcest. Their music is filled with nostalgia, sorrow and melancholy. Their aesthetics are beautiful and like some black metal bands, they have this love/hate relationship with life. This isn't exactly what I call happy. But I can understand why some bm fans who like their metal dark, gloomy, sad, angry and dirty would not like their work.

Still, if you haven't heard Souvenirs d'un autre monde, you shouldn't wait a single second to give it a listen. It's a beautiful album.

Les Voyages de l'Ã'me is an uneven album I would say. It has some great moments, but some tracks just seem to be there as fillers and lack the consistancy of previous Alcest work.

Does anyone here listen to Les Discrets or Amesoeurs?

I tried Ã'mesoeurs a few years ago but didn't dig any deeper in their work, as for Les Discrets, I have yet to hear a single of their tracks. It's still a shame that I haven't given them a play yet.

I will agree with you on that. It isn't even my favorite album of theirs. That would be Souvenirs d'un Autre Monde.
Although I DID like Ecailles de Lune....

I've actually only listened to Amesoeurs and Ruines Humaines.
I've been meaning to give the split they did with Valfunde, but haven't gotten around to it.

HELLOWEEN AND GAMMA RAY IN LONDON NEXT APRIL!

2013 is already looking good for me. Hell, I could actually settle with that as the only live show I ever see next year.

So midterms week is over. Now I will actually have time to post here and such. Recently found an album called Programed by Lethal. If you are a fan of early Queensryche, check em out.

Or sometimes while listening to music.

It's mostly because I am absolutely TERRIFIED of the audience o_o
I don't even play fast either xD

I can't...I just....can't......

I could totally use a bass player....I need to get in another band because I have a TON of stuff written down for guitar and some bass parts for songs but I have no one to play with. My sister plays bass but I don't like her boyfriend and she would insist and having him play in the band and he would try to boss everyone around like he always does.
"Oh Brandon we need to play this, this, and this. So we can't play anything YOU want to play because it's not real music, and I'm always right and blah blah fucking blah."

Also going off of what your roommate said I wouldn't be "stage material" either. And yet I've had some people compliment me on my playing. And others say I'm terrible xD I personally think I'm an awful guitarist.
I don't have very good rhythm, I have terrible memory, and I couldn't solo if my life depended on it hahaha

Holy shit, I just realised the man pictured here is actually the bassist of one of my favourite Norwegian black metal bands, Carpathian Forest. I guess while I'm on the subject, what do you guys think of them?

Also, does anyone know some good black/thrash? Maybe stuff with the whole epic thrashy vibe of Bathory?

Due to the fact I have no guitar strap, I haven't stood up to play guitar in a very long time. If I ever took to the stage, I'd probably be quite Fripp like. I may just have to do that some day. Join a metal band and simply sit down in a foldable chair the whole time, at most excited, slightly nodding my head. I'll be the Jah Wobble of metal.

I have I wanna say 3 straps. Although one of them came with my controller when I got Rock Band and I tend to keep that on my Epiphone SG. The other two are plain black but one has a big yellow finger print on it.

For the people that play guitar here.
How high or low do you have your guitar while playing standing up?

DragonLord (side project for one of the guitarists of Testament) is pretty good. Not fantastic or anything, but a very solid thrashy black metal band. Absu is another really solid one (I suggest either their latest or Tara). And......Vektor has some definite black metal influence, but much more thrashy. I suggest checking them out.

I know what I'm like on stage. I smile a lot and bang my head, which sucks if you're doing any sort of black metal. Here I am, facepainted and screaming into the mic, and then during the solo I'm cheesin' like a retard.

One of my all time favorite bands. They wrote some of the most beautiful, deep and well-thought Post-Rock/Drone/Ambient music I have ever heard.

Their album Yanqui U.X.O. is an amazing album. I especially like Rockets Fall of Rocket Falls. But the whole album is magnificient.

The album FâTM¯ AâTM¯ â^z is a masterpiece. I especially like the second track East Hastings, which includes the original track you most likely have heard in it's modified version in the movie 28 days later, The Sad Mafioso...

The album Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven is another one you should listen to. Just because it's awesome.

I also need to get the last album they have released : 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!
If you find it, give it to me !

They're good. I have their album, Yanqui U.X.O.

You should check out a Silver Mount Zion, since you like Godspeed. You'd probably also like Explosions in the Sky, Do Make Say Think, God is an Astronaut, the Samuel Jackson Five, and Meniscus. There's also a lot of really good metal with post-rock influence. I'm sure you already know Neurosis, Isis and Pelican, but there's also Rosetta, Ramesses, a Storm of Light, and Battle of Mice.
