Knew you would. ;)

As well, the programmed tracks for the upcoming "Infected Nuclear Bioromance" (my new demo) have been finished, and all that's left is to go into the studio and record the rest of the tracks and have it mixed.

Tracklisting is:

1. Greed
2. Impulse to Kill
3. From the Grave (Rerecorded)
4. Infected Nuclear Bioromance
5. God of Time
6. Perfect Soul (ephemeral thy flesh)
7. I Walk Beside You (Dream Theater cover)

I was seriously expecting to find AJFA quite easily but it seems like no one around here is selling them. Or if I go to a store that says they have it in stock there aren't any copies of it.

Yeah, I have my limits with what I spend. I even think 20 for Headless Cross is a bit too much. It's Black Sabbath so I should be more desperate but not like how I was with most Manilla Road albums. Most costed me 15.

I seriously need to find somewhere around here that sells Electric Wizard albums or else its gonna cost me an arm and a leg just to get 2 or 3 more albums of theirs...I also need to get Sleep Vol. 1 or Vol. 2 because I want to have an at least completeish collection of their stuff.

I blame you.
Whoa whoa whoa, did I actually say that? I obviously meant I DON'T blame you.

You mean spirited individual :(

Just stick with Valley of the Damned and the last album and you should be safe. Not saying the latest one is a masterpiece but it's putting them in the right direction.

I guess I'll go looking for that too when I go out album hunting/buying.
Granted I already have a pretty long list of things I want to get that I either already have on my computer but want a physical copy of or stuff I've been meaning to pick up but for some reason have put off doing so.

To tell you the truth, I don't have all the Saint Vitus albums so that's something I need to work on but right now, I would like to get more Agalloch.

Ah okay. Well I went through and downloaded all of the songs off of all of their albums one by one off of youtube using this youtube to mp3 converter I have on my computer. It took forever but it was worth it in the end.

Times like this I have to take my local shops for granted. Infact, I was able to pick up Deep Purple's Burn and Rush's Grace Under Pressure... again. Why again for the latter is that I did buy it along with some Father's Day stuff but then I left the bag somewhere and never saw it again.

Ehh, I'd put DragonForce on low priority, though.

It's funny, I have a long list of stuff to get but I'm actually reluctant to get most of it right now. I kinda feel like I want the albums but when I hear them I only get bored of them. Then again, it really doesn't help when I have a list of 1,000+ CDs that I may get sometime and that's why I always try to prioritise the more essential works. That or if I come across some sweet deals for albums. If I see something that's supposedly good for £3, you can be sure I'll swipe it.

Eh, YouTube converter isn't the best of things. The quality of the songs will be low but I suppose that's a way to encourage you to get the real thing.

I went to the store a while ago to buy Powerslave by Iron Maiden, but wound up buying that as well as Number of the Beast. After listening, I thought they were both excellent and well worth the money.

I also finally got around to replacing the strings on my old Fender Stratocaster, which must have had the same set of strings for at least three years at that point. It sounds significantly better now.

I haven't changed the strings on my guitars in over 3 years and they still sound the same as they did when I last changed em.

Yes, but it's a bit more "refined" with a greater variety of synths, as well as more adept dance beats and what will be a more professional production. As well, although there are a couple songs with blastbeats, the sound is slightly less "blackened" than before with greater use of dancebeats and different drum sounds.

All the hardware on my guitars is graphite-teflon, and i use exclusively ernie ball strings, so my strings NEVER break. Still, I like the "jangly" sound I get from new strings that have not seen the onslaught of sweat from my fingers.

I too use Ernie Ball strings. What do you use? I mainly use Regular and Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms.
Also my hands pretty much never sweat...and yet my hands never dry out ever not even in the cold.

I'm not very knowledgeable about strings myself, as I've hardly practiced guitar since I finished lessons a few years ago and only recently started picking it up again. I figured I'd try something new though, so I bought Ernie Ball Cobalt strings. They're supposedly brighter and have more output than other strings, and I've noticed this in comparison to my previous set of strings, but I have some doubt that I would notice much of a difference if the previous set of strings wasn't so dirty/rusty.

Hey Bamahut, I remember us discussing Boris and how you should definitely check them out. I thought about you recently when listening to this particular track. I thought you would like it : Boris - The Bell Tower of a Sign. Tell me what you think :)

Two very important albums for Heavy Metal. Great choices :)

It really depends of the people, really.

If you want to get people who are brainwashed by popshit, you'll have to get them slowly out of the stupid pop formula, usually by introducing them to metal with simple structures and predictable progression. Usually trying to avoid the most agressive or original and complex stuff.

But if you're friends are already into some interresting musical genres, you can try to get them into Metal through bands that share some aesthetical or song-writting similarities with the music they already like. For instance, I have a friend who likes ambient, ambient electronica, down-tempo, ethereal music, j-rock, etc. I introduced her to metal with bands like Agalloch, Versailles, Boris, etc.

Other people are generally open-minded to art... people like my girlfriend, with whom I didn't have any trouble making her listen to pretty much anything and everything in metal. She like Blotted Science, Agalloch, Benighted, The Morningside, Ulver, etc. These people are the best :)

If you have friend who like hardcore, punk, etc. Get them into grindcore, crust, crust/black metal. Stuff like Kvelertak, Benighted, Infernal Stronghold, Seeds In Barren Fields, etc. Thrash Metal should also work. Morbid Saint ftw !

damn.
yesterday afternoon i was home alone when i thought i smelled something burning
thought it was my cigarette i snuffed out..saw it was completely out..then thought maybe something was burning out in the laptop..nothing...then i saw wisps of smoke and thought, 'WTF? , I know I'm not tripping"
then i heard the recorded voice from the smoke alarm.."Fire..fire...fire...fire.."
so i jumped out of my room and see smoke floating around all over..checked the living room..nothing
then i opened my son's room and POW
instantly engulfed with smoke
fought my way in through all the smoke and opened a window to let the smoke out and see better
saw my son's blanket and mattress were glowing red and burning away
ran into the kitchen and grabbed the fire extinguisher we have had since we moved in
sprayed down the mattress and blanket and the shit was still berurning in areas
grabbed cups of water and put out what was left...all the while in a apartment full of smoke
put out the fire then noticed the alarm stopped....silence
my son's then came home, opened the door and saw all the smoke and were like WTF?
filled them in and they removed the mattress and threw it out by the dumpster...then we opened all the windows to air out the smoke...took almost 30 minutes for all the smoke to clear out..
shit was real....shit was friggin scary
just lucky i kept a cool head and dealt with it right....could have lost everything

other than that working on some new tracks i will be posting soon enough
gig in Kenosha , WI next month...gonna be cool
also the chick that wants to record with me is working on a Band Logo for me...cool.
and speaking about guitars i have a question for my fellow guitarists.
Prefer playing with a Pick or without?
Personally i prefer just using my fingers...seems i can play faster and do more without a pick..maybe just me.
i prefer playing the bassline, lead and rhythm simultaneously with my fingers...just works better for me.
also i am preferring acoustic over electric lately......seems i get better sounds with my acoustic
i like when people hear some of my stuff and refuse to believe it was done on an acoustic...pretty funny

well..back to the grind...see ya later...and before i forget again...who are the Horsemen these days anyway?

Keep it HEAVY
peace

I use hybrid picking, unless I'm playing really fast, then I'll just mute with the fretting fingers (whatever makes the chords easier). I have inconsistent technique all around, really, so I don't have a preference. I would like to become more fingerstyle, because I like chord melody, and that can be pretty hard to do with a pick (at least the Joe Pass route I like). I also want to play more classical, so that goes without saying.

Sorry to hear about the fire, do you know what may have caused it?

I tend to always use picks on both electric and acoustic. I can't finger pick worth a damn xD
I go everywhere with having 3 in my pocket. Never know when you'll need 1 or more, and then whos prepared?
I also use this blank coin as a pick. It has an interesting sound so I like using it sometimes.

Falconer is very average, in my opinion. Too cheesy for my taste, but that doesn't mean they don't have their good moments. I own a physical copy of one of their albums, which is the self-titled. Tracks like Upon The Grave Of Guilt and Royal Galley are quite enjoyable. In fact, I think I'm going to listen to those right now.

only thing i can think of which may have started the fore is either the ceiling fan blew a stray spark...or a part of th eblanket ended up in the ashtray when he got up to go

nice to see mention of Joe , been a BIG fan of his for years
and speaking of using coin for a pick..Brian May used British 10p coins in the day
learned that when i saw queen during The Game tour..we went hunting for picks or whatever and a dude we were looking with found one of his coin/picks...pretty cool

i used to use a pick all the time til i noticed when i dropped em and kept playing i noticed i could play the same or more without...and lately with me it's been like why limit to a pick when i have five on each hand?...i dunno, works for me
i like being able to pluck, pick, and triple strum at the same time instead....just me i guess

Ugh, I can relate to you with Windows Media Player being a bitch. At times the software just crashes on me and it's a pain in the ass. This shit should NEVER happen but clearly someone at Microsoft is fucking retarded. I'd use something else like iTunes but I like WMP best for looped playlists.

Damn, that's a lot of bravery right there. If it were me, I'd have just panicked in the situation.

I own a physical copy of one of their albums, which is the self-titled. Tracks like Upon The Grave Of Guilt and Royal Galley are quite enjoyable. In fact, I think I'm going to listen to those right now.

It's funny, what they do that establish themselves as cheesy is what makes me really enjoy them. To be honest, it's hard to find many power metal bands that stick out as well as Falconer do. I'm really disappointed I only have three of their albums. But yes, the debut album is brilliant and is hard to top for them. Chapters From a Vale Forlorn is also good but really pales in comparison to self-titled unless we're talking about a certain track or two.

Reasons above are actually why I enjoy Rhapsody. They're a band that have been able to stand out from the crowd and did their own thing. However, I can't say the same thing about the latest album. Feels rather plain.

Id order CDs more often but Id be afraid they'd get lost in the mail or something. Granted im seriously considering ordering some Kyuss CDs or something because stores don't stock those around here. And when they do they just happen to never have em when I go there. Also I finally found a copy of ...And Justice For All while I was out and about getting some more CDs and vinyls. It sucks that it had to be AFTER I spent all the money I had on me....although the place I went to and got QOTSA and Wolfmother have a copy of Melissa on vinyl for $40.... They also had a shit load of Blind Guardian too, but amazingly no Metallica or Black Sabbath.

Indeed, it's very fitting for them. Like I've said a few times, I'm not so huge on Sleep but their Sabbath influences don't go unnoticed.

I love Sleep! I don't know how I lived before finding them and Electric Wizard xD

It gets annoying how much it just decides to crash out of nowhere....then its off to Youtube for me. Speaking of using stuff for background music while im doing stuff I seriously need to clean my room xD

Take it from me here. I've ordered plenty of things online and only two things have ever been lost in the post. One of that I was able to get a refund for, though. The odds of having something lost in the post is 0.1% and this has been with the Royal Mail who are known to be incompetent shits. I'd say ordering from Amazon is a safe bet. Third party sellers from there have always been iffy, unlike eBay sellers. I do find a lot of cheap stuff on eBay but I can realise that the money doesn't really go towards the artists so getting it from Amazon is as genuine as you'll get. Well, that or the record labels/band websites but they generally come with a heavy postage cost so it's best to get them from Amazon if you can't find it in-stores. eBay is a plan B if the album is either unavailable on Amazon or it's far too expensive (my limit on any CD is £10-15 depending on rarity).

That fucks up all kinds of logic for a music store. I remember back in 2006 I was begging the music shops would at least have some Blind Guardian but all I found was fucking blink-182. You can imagine my anger when all I find in a metal section is a pop-punk band. At least there was plenty of Helloween at the time since when I just discovered them they did a reissue series covering from Walls of Jericho to Better than Raw. However, the one album I really wanted from them back then was Keepers Legacy. Why? Because the first song I heard from them was King for a Thousand Years and it was like the best fucking thing ever!

That's always a funny thought. You've been living with them for so long before you even discovered them. It's just a matter of finding more and more new stuff to keep metal alive for you.

Well the reason id be worried about it getting lost or me not getting what I ordered is because sometimes the post office here has a habit of losing some stuff or not giving it to you sometimes. For example they had my copy of Dopesmoker there for about a week or so and wouldn't give it to me.

I know its weird! It makes no sense that they'd have all that Blind Guardian and yet have no easier to get music.
Whenever I see music thats horribly out of place like that (pop-punk in with metal) I do what any normal person would. I take the CDs out of there and hide them all over the store xD
Now that I think of it I don't think that store had any Helloween CDs there either....I should look around more next time I'm there to see everything they have....

Yo Goul. I finally got a chance to listen to your demo. I have to say the way Sensey put it nailed it right on the head.
It was fucking sick! It was not what I expected, I was thinking Id hear some raw dirty black metal.
But that's not excatly what I heard, I heard an amazing mixture of grinding black metal and crazy synths and pounding bass.
I didn't know wtf I was listening to but I didn't care it was great. I just droned out and got lost in this dark techno metal maddness. Great job dude I love hearing new bizzare awesomeness.

Sorry it took so long, I don't have much time to listen to music anymore and I had to type all this shit out on my phone.

New adds to my library recently :

Ludicra - The Tenant
Leeches Of Lore - Frenzy, Ecstasy

I recommand Frenzy, Ecstasy to anybody who wants to hear something very fresh, very new and very unique. A friend of mine wrote a review for this album and I think he found the best possible way to describe this release. So I refer you to his review. Let's just say this album made me want to re-read Stephen King's book, The Pistolero.

Ludicra is okay so far. It didn't hook me up, but it's good. Agalloch's drummer and Hammers Of Misfortune's guitarist used both worked on that record, if that's of any interest to you guys.

Even if cheesy power metal can be good, I have an hard time believing that a band like Sabaton could end up writting a cheesy power metal masterpiece. Cheesyness is a limitation in a way, at least in my opinion. I find it hard to find any subtlety, complexity or deepness in music like this. To me, it's good. It's entertaining, but can a cheesy album ever be considered a masterpiece ? Just think about Helloween. Their magnum opus is one of the rare albums they released that were not corny/cheesy as fuck. It was epic, yes. But epic doesn't automaticaly means cheesy.

Falconer never reaches the cheesyness level of Pink Bubbles Go Ape, at least on what material I've heard from them, but it's cheesy, nonetheless.

Reasons above are actually why I enjoy Rhapsody. They're a band that have been able to stand out from the crowd and did their own thing. However, I can't say the same thing about the latest album. Feels rather plain.

I don't know much about Rhapsody. But aren't they more like... a very epic orchestral form of power metal, rather than cheesy power metal ? Maybe they are both, I don't know.
