Is Deicide any good? Somebody recommended them to me, but I'd like to get some opinions first.

Personally i like their 1st and latest album, but apart from that they are fairly repetitive and boring. But they are good though :D

ehhhhh........ I think he should get in. Remember... it's the knowledge of the genres and where the boundaries lie and the WILLINGNESS to listen to recommendations that counts. I think this guy is DEFINITELY in.

Well, I wasn't going to say no or yes, and I definitly agree that potential is there. But based simply on bands alone, there wasnt much to go on because not many were listed, granted that they dont need 100 to get in - I just am unsure when it comes to inexperience in the genre.

I checked out a few bands from Duffeknol's mtvhell, and I actually really like a band called Utopia Banished (from like New York, I think). Now they do have a melodeath sound to them, but thier vocalist has more of a black metal style than traditional cleaner melodeath vocals. They could use a little bit of polish (and a label, lol) but I think they rawk

And the archives are invaluable, I've found everything there. Also, I think Black Sabbath is a tad overrated. They might have originated a lot, but they're played out. Led Zep is a great classic rock band, but I don't think they had much to do with metal. They also covered quite a few songs in thier day without crediting (the most famous being When the Levee Breaks), however the ripped-off songs were mostly jazz oriented anyway, and not much to do with metal at all (I still love them though).

Yeah, I do like them, especially Serpents of the Light and their latest. Just stay away from "In Torment in Hell" and most of "Insineratehymn"

Hey CowsCanBark, could you do me a favor? You are already a veteran on the archives, could you change the tracklist of my upcoming EP to the one on my Shores of Sheol website? :) Would be great.

Thank you, good sir.

Release date of the EP is 15. January. I'll provide you all with samples and tracks, and I'm really damn satisfied with the way the songs turned out. Prepare for a mix of Black/Doom/Thrash :)

Alright, I just added the release date to the Archives as well. I'm looking forward to hear it. =P

Uh... damn, a bottle of 101 proof scotch isn't great for memory.

Anywho, more recording, still flooded here, but the drums on my new release sound very "abyss-ey" and the toms have this nice apocolyptic sound to them.

I'm going for a broader sound here, and I am incorporating some of my old sound in my new release, coupled with the ambient electronica of my new sound. It's epic, magnimonious, and weird.

You're in, and sounds like you don't know ANY bm bands. Try Mayhem (after 1990), Enthroned, Aborym, Emperor, Dissection, Limbonic Art, Burzum, Nargaroth, Gorgoroth, and Ragnarok.

Sweet thanks. And I do know some black metal bands, but they arent my favorites.

No problem. I, along with Lykaki, CowsCanBark, Duffeknol, and Setsuna956 are the black metal masters. If you want (and have a way of paying me) you can have a copy of one of my CDs. MSN me or AIM me for prices.

I think the most underrated BM band is Enthroned. In their history of 9 albums, they're never released ANYTHING bad. All of their stuff is melodic (while still really focused on guitars) and energetic and the songwriting is top notch. Seriously, I don't think it's possible for Enthroned to make a bad song, let alone a bad album.

Most of RC's stuff I find to be BARELY classifiable as black metal, if at all. Thy Mighty Contract, Passage to Arcturo- Maybe. But the rest- uh huh. Especially Khronos 666, Sleep of the Angels, A Dead Poem, and Triarchy of the Lost Lovers.

Triarchy of the Lost Lovers is quite Black metal, in my opinion, listen to "Archon" and tell me it's no BM. Non Serviam is total black metal and Sanctus Diavolos is kinda back to the roots.

I also love the other RC CDs, all their stuff rules.

For new immortal, check out Sons of Northern Darkness. For old immortal, check out Battles in the North.

For Enthroned, try Carnage in Worlds Beyond (for their newer, harder, sound) and Prophecies of Pagan Fire for their older sound.

Ya, but I haven't heard em, nor can I pronounce their name.

And to Goatchrist, most of RC's stuff is either gothic metal or blackened gothic metal, in my opinion. Satanas Tedieum and Passage to Arcturo is quite black metal, and Thy Mighty Contract is quite black metal too. TOTLL and Non Serviam is just blackened gothic metal, in my opinion. Sure, Sanctus Diavolos is a return to their roots, but it's still got lots of new RC in it. Most of RC's new stuff is just gothic metal (ESPECIALLY A Dead Poem and Khronos 666)

I see what you mean, "just gothic metal"? Pretty harsh gothic metal :P I do agree with "A Dead Poem" which has indeed very little BM in it. Khronos is also very Gothic and with just a little BM. But I don't see any gothic in ST, PtA or Thy Mighty Contract and when I listen to "Non Serviam"(especially the title track) there's rarely any Gothic, in my opinion...but to each his own, I love all their work :)

You can find samples of Kali Yuga at www.kaliyuga.biz. :):):):):)
