ehhhhh........ I think he should get in. Remember... it's the knowledge of the genres and where the boundaries lie and the WILLINGNESS to listen to recommendations that counts. I think this guy is DEFINITELY in.
Well, I wasn't going to say no or yes, and I definitly agree that potential is there. But based simply on bands alone, there wasnt much to go on because not many were listed, granted that they dont need 100 to get in - I just am unsure when it comes to inexperience in the genre.
I checked out a few bands from Duffeknol's mtvhell, and I actually really like a band called Utopia Banished (from like New York, I think). Now they do have a melodeath sound to them, but thier vocalist has more of a black metal style than traditional cleaner melodeath vocals. They could use a little bit of polish (and a label, lol) but I think they rawk
And the archives are invaluable, I've found everything there. Also, I think Black Sabbath is a tad overrated. They might have originated a lot, but they're played out. Led Zep is a great classic rock band, but I don't think they had much to do with metal. They also covered quite a few songs in thier day without crediting (the most famous being When the Levee Breaks), however the ripped-off songs were mostly jazz oriented anyway, and not much to do with metal at all (I still love them though).
