My friend left for Alberta. He couldn't work, study, pay for the appartment... all at the same time, so he left. He will live with his parents until he gets his diploma. Hopefully it won't take more than two or three years. Seing how much his friends love him, I'm pretty sure he'll come back every now and then though. I might also go on a trip to Alberta myself.

Anyway, thanks for the emotional support Zodir :)

Broooooomance ! Nothing really gay about it !!!

I had a friend once and we were close as close friends (when I was in high school) and after getting busted with cocaine he ended up being shipped to Kentucky to work on a farm. When I saw him again, he had cut his hair (which was long) and gained hella muscle weight. Still, it absolutely sucked when he left. So I feel for ya.

Thanks for the support :) Also, you seem to hang out with "special" people a lot :P

You know, I've never really been a fan of Falling Into Infinity. While it is the mellowest and chillest album of theirs, it's not one I dig that much. Then again, I enjoy albums such as 6DOIT, Systematic Chaos and Black Clouds & Silver Linings so you might want to take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

I was supposed to see them live this Sunday. so im kind of annoyed by this, its most likely that randy didnt kill that guy anyway.

I find this incident to be too weird. I feel that if the crazy fan had to go on stage THREE TIMES, then Randy was right to push him off stage. Common sense should surely tell you to not go on stage AT ALL when the band is playing. Apparently the fan fell on his head when he got pushed off by Randy but I wouldn't imagine the stage to be that tall or the guy to have fallen upside down that fast. This is coming from someone who has no interest in the band and probably never will so I'm not defending Randy just because I'm a fan of Lamb of God which I'm certainly not.

From the six years I have been listening to metal, not once have I listened to The Great Southern Trendkill. All I have from Pantera are Cowboys from Hell and Vulgar Display of Power. I feel that's enough for me unless I'm to venture into Glamtera.

yep. I have their album. awesome stuff.

Planet X is pretty cool, it's spacy and alien-like. Sherinian does go overboard sometimes, but songs like Peruvian Skies, Hollow Years, Hell's Kitchen, and Take Away My Pain are great mellow tunes.

What I think really makes the music is the guitar. awesome rythym.

Which one are you talking about, Falling into Infinity or Planet X? Planet X has some really fucking interesting guitars, courtesy of T-Mac

I just saw the Stanley Clark Band live, and it was absolutely beautiful. Everything was just perfect. Such chemestry, beautiful music and awesome improvisations.

Another metal confession: I've tried Planet X but couldn't really get into them. Maybe I didn't listen to the right songs of theirs to make my way into their music. Then again, I can be a bit fussy with progressive metal in general which is strange since I enjoy a lot of prog rock out there. Maybe I'm just more of a prog rock person than being a progressive metal enthusiast.

Response to Metal Hell 2012-07-02 09:00:32

Actually, I'm thinking of King's X, not Planet X. It's been ages since I did try out King's X so maybe they're not progressive metal as my mind originally thought.

I saw a vidya of Donati in the early nineties, I think, back when he had the mullet from hell, and he was drumming some insane shit, like 240 bpm 13/16 crazy stuff.

Been listening to Napalm Death all week. Mostly Harmony Corruption and Leaders Not Followers Part 2 (A good old hardcore/metal cover album). If you guys haven't listened to it already, check Harmony Corruption out. It's essential.

Cool to see you like Stanley, Duff. Damn good bassist. I love it that more and more Metal fans are getting into Jazz.

Man, the first two Scorpions albums are so fucking weird. I'm one that's exposed himself more to their classics such as In Trance and Taken By Force as opposed to their radio hit singles so hearing Lonesome Crow and Fly to the Rainbow took me by surprise with their experimental elements to them. Can't say they were the best of that kind, though and thankfully they turned for the better in the late 70s.

Gorguts - Condemned To Obscurity

I don't remember even seing anyone talking about Gorguts here in the Metal Hell. If that means that nobody in here knows them, I suggest you check them out. They are an Avant-Garde Technical Death Metal (No Wanking) band from Richmond, Quebec. I think both old-school dm and modern dm fans should like them.

Nowadays, the band is quite different. Luc Lemay is the only original member of the band. They have had numerous line-up changes, some of them due to musicians deaths... which is always a sad thing. Anyway, some of you might be interrested that the band was reformed with famous musicians such as John Longstreth from Origin, Colin Marston from Behold... The Arctopus and Kevin Hufnagel from Dysrhythmia. I don't know where the band is going to go now... The new line-up pushes me to think that there will be much more wanking and technicality show-offs with the new line-up. Let's just hope their music remains as good as it was back in the 90's. If not, then it's alright because they have already released four full-lenghts, so you can still appreciate their old-school material :)

Gorguts are sweet, and Obscura is a hell of tech-death album, I recommend that everyone check it out at some point. Didn't one guitarist that also provided vocals die just last month too? Sucks, his guitar playing and vocals were monstrous, and I heard he had a lot to do with the writing on Obscura.

The new album is pretty rad, but not their best. I don't think they will ever top From Mars to Sirius though. I also saw Gojira live last week and they rocked.

I've been trying to get into Industrial Black Metal recently and it wasn't going well, and then I found Mortiis.

Goddamn, he's funny-looking; but I heard he's a real bro.

What a shame, Mister Jensen.

I never asked for this, Mister Denton.

Have you checked out Aborym? They're the vanguard. Also worth looking up:

Dodsheimsgard/DHG (666 International & Supervillian Outcast only)
Axis Of Perdition
Ram-Zet (not for everyone, though)
The Kovenant (too industrial and dance-y for most metalheads, though)
V:28
Blut Aus Nord (great atmospheric stuff)
...And Oceans (later stuff)

There are more, but I can't be arsed to look them up.

Anyone else think that the Part II of the album supposedly to be released in 2013 will be delayed about 8 years?

I'm just looking forward to during the end of the development cycle for Time II, Jari claims Time III will be required. You only wonder where Wintersun would have been right now without this hellish of a long time development for the album(s).
