He was mentionned in the medias when he died, I remember. He didn't get the same press coverage as MJ or Whithney Houston, though. Still, great artists who never hit the mainstream charts are completely forgotten, even with a grand career like Tomas Börje Forsberg's one.

Camel is a pretty underrated prog rock band.

At 18 hours ago, AllMightyBruce wrote: Yeah same. You'd probably dig The Atomized Dream if you're into those songs.

Alrighty, I'll see if I can get it.

Also, have you listened to Der Ort by Klabautamann? I'm listening to it now, and It's sick so far.

I'm enjoying them quite a bit and Mirage makes it better for me. Turns out most of the classic prog rock bands have cheap CDs on Amazon right now so I should get them while I can.

It surprises me how few people know them. Camel even has a fairly meaty wiki article, yet people often don't know them.

I've been listening to a lot of pre-metal rock lately, and I'm really loving Deep Purple. I suggest you guys listen to them a bit more if you haven't (metalheads seem eschew Deep Purple for some reason). There really is a whole bunch of good shit beyond "Smoke on the Water" and "Child in Time" that gets no love. Plus, Ritchie Blackmore is a pretty underrated guitarist. He's got damn good theory, he's an amazing solo player, and he plays a lot of high-speed shit with his thumb alone.

And c'mon, isn't this perfect for slapping your ho's to?

Have fun :) I'm sure it's going a great show !

So I'm listenning to Agalloch again. Still one of the most innovative bands to ever walk the Earth. Their music has that fantastic immersive feel, and influences from so many bands and genres, it's fantastic to listen to.

I do have a few Deep Purple albums beyond In Rock and Machine Head. There's plenty of good stuff from Shades of Deep Purple, The Book of Taliesyn and Fireball. If I were to get more Deep Purple, I'll consider picking up self-titled and Burn. Right now, Machine Head stands as a favourite of mine. Seven excellent tracks right there!

I guess with all the big prog rock names out there, some end up being overshadowed.

So I might be seeing Suffocation tonight (yay). But there are stipulations, such as that it's not absolute, and that the club is notoriously shitty. But it is Suffocation, and the chances of me seeing them at anything beyond Deathfest (which I can't ever seem to attend) are slim. Some other bands will b with them, but the paper didn't list, so their likely crappy local bands.

So yeah, how bout dem Suffocation?

Since everyone is talking about their favorite Deep Purple songs, I'll throw my two cents into the arena as well. I have to go with the song Burn. The 6 minute epic has everything I like about them in one nice little package.

Also, I am currently working on a big Heavy Metal project. I'll let you guys know aobut it as soon as I am closer to getting all the little details finalized.

I'm pretty sure Mirage is Camel's most popular and well known album.

I listened to the latest Klabautamann album. It was very good, but Merkur and Der Ort were even better. I still think Merkur is the best.

I got There be Squabbles Ahead by Stolen Babies. listening to it now.

So yeah, fucking Suffocation. Good fucking performance. Heres's how it went (read up, you might find a good band, or one to laugh at):

I entered the door to find out that Suffocation didn't start to 11. Had to convince my parents to pick me up around that time, sadly it would be mid-Suffo performance, but 18 dollars is good money to me, so I figured I'd stay. Guy behind the counter seemed like a miserable old hardcore fuck, but later my view changed a bit. I made the mistake of asking if I could back stage (I saw the Suff drummer), but that was a dumb move, because I found out 5 minutes later the band members where all over the place anyway. So I was of cource, declined. I went to the bathroom to meet Terrence Hobbes, who is nice as fuck. ASked him what his favourite Suffo song was, Infecting the Crypts. Saw the first band, Raze. Pretty cool sludge/post-hardcore band. They utilised feedback better than any band I've ever seen, and the vocalist was damn good. Then I went to buy some merch, got a Quebec Live in 2005 Suffo. CD, and a pair of Suffo panties, just for fun. Showed Terrence the panties and said "I guess you could say I'm a fan", and he got a kick. Second band, some deathcore/melodeath band. Not really that good, but I loved their charisma, and they occasionaly pumped out a good riff. Next, band, utter shitte. I've never heard blackened power deathcore ever, but if it's anything like this, fuck it sucks. The majority of the bands up until the second to last, meh. Mostly generic Grind/Brutal Death, save for two bands, one I forgot, and the other being March to Victory (whos vocalist was both nice and a fucking giant). You can see the band list here, but it isn't in chronological order. A nearly nude (and later completely nude, according to the police) woman was headbanging during March to Victory (who did a good cover of Death's Lack of Creation with their own solos), and Terrence had his eyes glued to her.

Then, came a band called Stronger Intention. Now you know the guy at the desk, turns out he is the vocalist/main guitarist to the band. And fuck where they good. His guitar playing was extremely clean, and his picking hand was merely a pinkish tan flash. He knew what Hardcore was, and his guitar playing showed it. Into the second song, he took off his shirt and called as pussies, which was pretty lulzy. Bassist was an amazing headbanger, as he couyld do it all while still being as clean as the guitarist. Drummer was energetic, and did a lot with 1 bass pedal. Overall, they sounded like a mix of Toxic Holocaust and Repulsion. Good shit, you guys should check them out.

Finally came Suffocation. Delayed Effigy of the Forgottenperformance, but well worth the wait. Fill in drummer, but hell, I couldn't tell the difference. First song, Infecting the Crypts. Place went fucking wild, including myself. I got on a rail so I could see them. Someone was punching at a girl, so people beat the shit out of him. Second, Effigy of the Forgotten. Place was wild, and Frank knew it (he had been distant from people up until the stage performance). He was giving high fives, moshing, headbanging, and more like it was no tommorow. Third song, Pierced From Within. Fourth, Breeding the Spawn. Fifth was Jesus Wept, of which Frank began with an anti-religion sermon. The middleaged black employees where devestated (save for one, who suprisingly loved the band). Had to leave mid-performance, but I didn't mind, I was tired as fuck.

TL;DR Suffocation was awesome, Deicide sucks for not touring with them. Terrence Hobbes is the nicest man you'll ever meet, and I'm sure he would make Glenn Benton a decent human being if he ever met him. Also, check out Strong Intention if you like Grind.

So yeah, good shit.

getting more into Mayhem. haven't listened to them in a while. I'm starting to think that their later work is actually better than the classic stuff. I've always been more into modern bm than the oldschool sutff, though, especially if it has other influences in it. I don't have any of their later albums, though. I might grab 'em soon.

also, that Stolen Babies album that I got...I love it. And Dominique Persi is too damn sexy.

Speaking of black metal, you dudes should drop what you're listening to and check out Fleurety. They're so ridiculously underrated. fuck. Why are they so unknown?

listen to them now.

or like, you suck.

Hvilelos?

a Face in a Fever

Fragmenter av en Fortid

Barb Wire Smile (this one is on my "chill" playlist)

We always get into Mayhem with that way of thinking, the one in which we think that early Mayhem is great and that the most recent stuff will never be as good. But that's because of Mayhem fans. No matter what is released by the band now, if it's not released by Euronymus, Dead, Necrobutched and Hellhammer... it cannot be great or legendary...

also, that Stolen Babies album that I got...I love it. And Dominique Persi is too damn sexy.

She loods good :) And the bands live outfits are pretty cool. Fits the theme of their music :)

did anyone else hear the bad news
Black Sabbath canceled their tour :(

A statement on their official website explained that Tony Iommi's battle with lymphoma is responsible for the cancellations, though their appearance at Download Festival will continue as planned.

Instead, the tour dates will be rebranded with the new headliners Ozzy & Friends, with Zakk Wylde stepping into Iommi's shoes. Geezer Butler will continue on bass, and fans can expect appearances from the like of Slash and other special guests along the way.

The statement claims that Iommi is making excellent progress with his cancer treatment, and looks forward to getting back on the road with Black Sabbath.

The original band continues to record a new album with Rick Rubin, though original drummer Bill Ward remains an outsider.

so they're still recording the album but no tour now D:

Well that sure does suck but at the same time seems pretty cool with Zakk Wylde playing for Iommi. But I just hope Zakk Wylde doesn't try to do his own thing and screw around with the songs.

Just Picked up Dying Fetus-Descend Into Depravity and Ted Nugents first album. I always pick up the most random combination of CD's. Get a Brutal Death Metal album and Rock album. Even the employees at the CD shop I go to mention this. I picked up a ZZ Top and a SYL album one time and the guy was like ZZ Top and SYL? That's a weird combination. I must agree.
