Except it's a satire site. I'll admit I fell to it at first but the "I Fired Bill Ward" showed something wasn't quite right about it.

Back from seeing Mastodon, it was an amazing set. Songs played ((not entirely in order) were:

Dry Bone Valley
Black Tongue
I Am Ahab
Crystal Skull
Circle Of Cysquatch
Capillarian Crest
Colony Of Birchmen
Sleeping Giant
Where Strides the Behemoth
Iron Tusk
March Of The Fire Ants
Ghost Of Karelia
Crack The Skye
Curl Of The Burl
Blasteroid
All The Heavy Lifting
Thickening
Spectrelight
Blood And Thunder
Megalodon
Aqua Dementia
And as an encore they did Creature Lives with all of Dillinger and Red Fang on stage, as well as dropping hundreds of red Mastodon balloons from the ceiling.

I think that setlist is just amazing, there are only 3 songs I would've liked to see for it to be perfect, Island, Crusher Destroyer and Stargasm.

Red Mastodon balloons didn't fall from the ceiling in the Manchester event B(

But yeah pitting to that one sudden change of pace in Megalodon has completed my life. You know the one i'm talking about.

Santorum is still a scumbag, as is Gingrich. They're just terrible people.

Speaking of Melvins, Bullhead is overrated compared to their other albums. It's awesome, but Stoner Witch, Stag, and Nude With Boots are way better.

That Mastodon show sounds sweet, but why no This Mortal Soil? That's one of their best songs ever. And how could they not play Oblivion? That's like Dream Theater not playing Metropolis pt.1. I'd be quite disappointed if I went to a DT show and they didn't play that.

So, it looks like Animals as Leaders and Mammatus have both been removed from Metal-Archives. What the eff?

You serious?

"They would be forced to endure 30 days of non-stop âEUoevalues basedâEU music that promotes the American way of life as well as the free market. In order to leave, they will have to sing the chorus to at least one Celine Dion song."

I don't think you should take this article seriously.

Yeah you're right it is. I couldn't find anything on it when I googled it except for this:

Anyway, who else thinks Dark Funeral is extremely underrated? They're godly to me, but most people I talk to seem to give them no respect. I think they top Gorgoroth and Marduk.

Response to Metal Hell 2012-02-11 20:16:05

I never really considered Animals As Leaders metal in the first place. I consider them post-metal, along with Explosions In The Sky, Scale The Summit, God Is An Astronaut and If These Trees Could Talk. Five great metal influenced instrumental-only prog. bands, but none of them are metal.

I think all three of those bands suck, to be totally honest with you.

Post =/= Prog

Also GIAA aren't metal.

Dark Funeral underrated? No, they're really popular.

Aside from Scale the Summit, which is progressive metal, all of those bands you mentioned are post-rock, not "post-metal". Plus, I don't hear any metal influence in Explosions in the Sky or God is an Astronaut. I don't know about if These Trees Could Talk, though, because I still haven't listened to them. And "post-metal" is still metal. I definitely consider AAL to be progressive metal.

Post-metal and post-rock are the same thing to me. I've yet to hear an explanation as to what separates them.

And I never said GIAA, EITS or ITTCT are metal - just metal influenced, because they are. Even if it isn't as clear of a influence as ambient and whatnot.

Post-metal more ofen than not, has vocals, whereas post-rock more often does not. Guitars in post-metal are less texture and timbre oriented than in post-rock, and of course, metal is often more low and bassy. It's really one of those things that's hard to explain. You just kind of get to know.

Also, why is Neurosis considered post-metal? I do realize their influence on post-metal, and that they somewhat predated post-rock/metal, but in this day and age, why are they still called it? They sound nothing most of the modern scene, and beyond their latest album, don't seem to have many post-rock tendencies. This sounds nothing like most of todays stuff.

I don't even know if post-metal is a real thing, but either way, it's simple. One is metal, the other is rock.

And I totally don't hear any metal influence in God is an Astronaut or Explosions in the Sky. I doubt it's there.

Steelwing....they remind me the great times of heavy metal.
I like their new album "Zone Of Alienation" but my favorite is "Lord Of The Wasteland" it´s sound more heavy metal.

Well I saw Megadeth, Motorhead, and Volbeat last night (I could care less about Lacuna Coil) was an excellent show. Neck is fucking killing me from Motorhead. The only really bad thing about the show was Megadeth's volume. Was not loud enough. If I can hear myself during your set you aren't playing loud enough and I was up front for them. Regardless was a great show.

On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being Betty White and 10 being Shakira, how smoking is Lacuna Coil's singer in person? And how long did you fap to pictures of her when you got home?

Just curious.

High five! These guys are definitely cool. I first knew them from Blind Guardian's show two years back. They've been one of my favourite support acts since with only Grand Magus topping them for Cathedral's show and possibly Darkest Era from Alestorm's show.

It's hard to put into words, like Tobi said after a while you just know, there are ways to show obvious differences though, like comparing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svbBLvAe5Bg to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdiY6kijYHE it's obvious that the first is post metal and the second post rock.

On an unrelated note, seriously I cannot get the easy html buttons to work, why is this happening.
