They seem to like Mastodon, Opeth and Trivium quite a bit. Not complaining about the additions of Mastodon and Opeth at all, of course.

For Iron Maiden-like, Cloven Hoof's first 3 albums.
Dragonforce, the band Power quest. They've even had many of the same members.

You chose the best time to bring up Crystal Viper. My most recent order from Shadow Kingdom Records had me choosing Metal Nation. From the few songs I heard, I'm liking them.

It's a mixed bag. I'm not a big Cannibal Corpse fan, but I hear their live shows are pretty fun. If I ever happen to get the chance, I would gladly see them live. The only problem I could really see is some of the fans that attend the show could be kinda obnoxious. CC tends to attract doucebags who just watched Ace Ventura, far more annoying than any scenekid. But hell, I think it's still worth it.

Why would you call it dead? It's probably the most active club in the C&C forum.
Also, I never quite caught this: Are you the vocalist and lyricist for Impulse Manslaughter, or just the lyricist?
At 1/4/12 10:32 PM, CoCo wrote: I'm really digging these guys, but I don't understand how they are considered black metal. Anyone mind explaining what genre this band is?
They started as a black metal band, and as they evolved, they kind of introduced elements of other genres in their music. But on albums like Souvenirs d'un autre monde, you can still feel some black metal elements. But it's definitely not "just" black metal. There is some shoegaze in there, some post-rock... black metal of course and they are definitely an avant-garde band :)
But I can't give you a specific genre classification for Alcest. And I still haven't heard their new material. It's on my to do list!

Definitely sounds great :) I like it !
That's some more stuff I have to get... along with new Alcest album, Arch Matheos album (that I'm really digging, thanks to you guys for introducing me to this band!) and the album of this very good power metal band :)

Definitely. We are discussing your music, Alcest, Crystal Viper, we are giving recommandations of bands for a guy... and more... We had something like 30 posts in two days in here...
Yeah, the club is definitely dead. Lock this shit.

Well, I would, but I'm getting into The Deceased at the moment.
As soon as I get through that, I'll be right on it.

With Impulse Manslaughter I wrote the lyrics for about 4 tunes and sang on a few songs during their recording session in 86 as well as a live Tape of the gig i filled in for Karl at CBGB's that same year. Also in Maximum Rock-N-Roll in late 86 they posted pics from that show and mistakenly used my brother's name instead of mine lol. Also there is footage of me joining Karl onstage for a couple duets as well which i am working on getting released. Have a good vid from him and i singing They Start the War as well as an extended version of Crimson Dreams. Also trying to get Karl or my brother Bryant to release the last tracks they did in Namland..they have a song Myagi which is awesome. Bryant also had a project called AfterDeath which released a live tape i would love to see get out online finally. All 3 Patton brothers were in bands and currently Karl is singing with Alehammer, Bryant is done and happy being a family man, and me, well you guys will see and hear more as the year goes on. Gary and I had a good talk today and he is digging out all the old Death Squad material we never released. Have a lot of video footage, an official music vid, a bunch of live tapes and an albums worth of unreleased studio tracks. Gary finally has time now to go through it all with me to pick out the best stuff to finally get released. My first Solo project begins this weekend..Lucifer's Lightbulb, which will be on a comp cd by spring. Me and Karl been in bands since we did our first gig together in 84 and him and i ain't quitting anytime soon. Lost 9 years of my life due to being misdiagnosed and given drugs I never needed. Now I'm back with a vengeance. Nuclear Blast released a few albums with my lyrics on it without my permission so see what happens after i meet with a lawyer about it.
With Impulse you can hear me on the tracks Patton's Disease and ABC's(a.k.a. ??? you figure it out) as well as a scream here and there on the Burn One Naked and Nuke it EP which came from the 86 recording session which i helped finance. I sold my first Lyrics in High School to a local band which never went anywhere and never recorded the song.
Yeah, been around a while and plan on being around longer...also been talking to Hypothermia about doing a duet as well as some other bands on Facebook who want to work with me.
And that 60 wattt shaman band, Jim Forrester is a good friend of mine on facebook, He is gonna introduce me to his good friend Wino in the near future :).
Life is damn good..just had to kill off batman64 to be me.

What's amazing about them is that you could start off with their weakest effort (it's Twilight of the Idols IMO for feeling inconsistent for the second half) and still appreciate them for damn fucking good songs they write. At one point I thought The Animals Spirits was their weakest album but when listening to Trick the Vicar and not being able to stop playing the record after that song, I realised it's a very worthy album for them. The moment they announce a new album, it's instant hype from me and my expectations will be very high.

According to mot of the local metalheads I've met, Wino is a pretty cool guy. He doesn't liveto far from Baltimore, so chances are, I'll meet him someday. This reminds me, I better go listen to Shrinebuilder.

By the way guys, I'm working on a painting and so far I am quite happy with what I've done. My girlfriend is an artist and her paintings are just great ! I've asked her to teach me and show me how to paint. And she did a pretty good job so far. I know it doesn't feel the same as seing the real thing, but I will post a picture of it when I'm done :)

Meshuggah- Untitled new album
Ex Deo- Caligula
Blind Guardian- Untitled new album
Sigh- In Somniphobia
Darkane- Untitled new album
Dragonlord- Untitled new album
Fates Warning- Untitled new album
Ghost- Untitled new album
Gojira- Untitled new album and Sea Shepered EP
High On Fire- Untitled new album
Overkill- Untitled new album
Judas Priest- Untitled new album
Testament- The Dark Roots of Earth (GENE HOGLAN!)
I'm half tempted to put Time and Tool's new album up, but I doubt they will come out this year.
Proud Demon residing in the METAL HELL!

also have a bunch of friends releasing stuff this year.
anything mainstream i will simply wait and see the results upon release.
preferring more underground sounds lately simply because i find them more artistic than what passes for art these days.
New Nekromantheon is out soon, so looking forward to that. Other than that, I don't know. I'm obviously curious about new Sabbath, but I don't have high hopes, really.
