Honestly, an all clean set would put me off. Not that clean Opeth isn't awesome, but I do love their heavier stuff too and I'd want to hear some of it live at least.

He meant they're fake fans because the setlist isn't all clean vocals, Michael still utters the gutturals.

Also, seeing Between the Buried and Me with support from Animals as Leaders tomorrow. Should be fun.

That is so not old school. Only slightly jelly.

I now have every Wo Fat album, WOOOOT. Check out Wo Fat if you like your stoner perfect and amazing.

And I made a post about Elder on the last page, but seriously, stellar band that you should all listen to, and definitely get their new album Dead Roots Stirring or something.

Also, Black Tusk are cool. I need more sludge/hardcore.

Have I mentionned the newest Blood Red Throne album yet? Well I did now :) It's a great album. If there are any Death Metal fans in here, I suggest you pick it up. The name is Brutalitarian Regime. I would personnaly rank it 2nd or 3rd best album by them. My favorite by them is still Altered Genesis (if you never listenned to it, you have to do it now). I don't know if I like it better than Affilliated With The Suffering, so this is why I'm ranking it 2nd or 3rd.

Souls Of Damnation, while it was still a good album didn't have as much of those great moments and unique riffs that make Blood Red Throne one if not the best Modern Death Metal band. But Brutalitarian Regime brings us back to the great feeling of Altered Genesis.

I lol'ed at this XD

Paradise Lost is a joke. Especially in comparison to The Divine Wings Of Tragedy and Twilight In Olympus. Just saying.

I didn't lol'ed at this >:(

Leave Paradise Lost alone, it's a great album. It's very different compared to what I would call "the first era albums" of Symphony X, but it's still great :)

I really should go to that show... But I didn't buy any tickets. They won't be here before December though, and that might not be the best time to go for me... I'd really like to see Between The Buried And Me live at least once in my life though.

Speaking of Black Tusk, anyone like The Holy Mountain? They're a Floridan crust band who did a split with Black Tusk not to long ago. pretty cool shit.

I was in front of Tosin for Animals as Leaders, I still don't think what I saw was real. He was at the bar after the show just chilling talking to people it was totally rad.

BTBAM did a half cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit. It was quite funny. Aside from Colors they played Disease Injury Madness, One off that EP that I can't remember the name of, and Selkies.

This tour, and the 2003 Damnation tour aside, every tour they do is mainly all death metal stuff. If you can catch them on this tour, then you should be honored as this may be the last time they ever do an all clean vocals set.

At 9/21/11 08:31 AM, Bahamut wrote: Now that's pretty sweet. However, whether I'll want to see them in Manchester will depend on whether I like the new album or not. If it doesn't appeal to me that much, I'll be out of luck there. :P I was hoping they'd keep the Heritage songs to a minimum since it is a risky move for Opeth and Mikael was aware of many weren't going to like the new album.

Well this is the setlist they played on monday when I saw them: (reposting it for a reason)
01. The Devil's Orchard
02. I Feel the Dark
03. Face of Melinda
04. Porcelain Heart
05. Free Falling (30 second lolzie snippet)
06. Nepenthe
07. The Throat of Winter
08. Credence
09. Patterns in the Ivy II
10. Closure
11. Slither
12. A Fair Judgement
13. Hex Omega
ENCORE:
14. Folklore

This is the setlist they played on tuesday in hartford CT, according to my friend who loves Opeth more then me:
01. The Devil's Orchard
02. Face of Melinda
03. Porcelain Heart
04. To Rid The Disease
05. Nepenthe
06. The Throat of Winter
07. Credence
08. Patterns in the Ivy II
09. Closure
10. A Fair Judgment
11. Hex Omega
ENCORE:
12. Folklore
13. To Bid You Farewell

So between the shows their WAS a different setlist. I'm slightly jealous of my friend though, he got to see To Bid You Farewell. >.<

So yeah, compare the two setlists. Five songs off the new album for my show, four from the new album on tuesday.

HERE'S A VIDEO OF FACE OF MELINDA FROM THE MONDAY WORCESTER SHOW BTW. :D

I'm somewhat jealous of you guys. A super tour is coming to north america:

Between The Buried And Me
The Dillinger Escape Plan
The Red Chord
Animals As Leaders
TesseracT
Some other band I forgot the name of

The point is, i've already seen BTBAM four times so pretty much AAL would be the only reason why I go. The tour's hitting up boston and it's like 50 bucks though, I don't have the money for this one. haha

Do you still plan to see them at Manchester? I'm going to speak to a friend of mine about his thoughts on the album and if he's fine with this different approach. If he doesn't want to see Opeth live as a result, the other choices for November shows will be Turisas or Motörhead (again). If I do see Opeth live, I'll have to give Patterns in the Ivy II a listen.

Strapped for cash at the moment, but yes, I do still plan to go and see them. Hopefully they won't sell out and I can organize travel there.

I'm back, and I don't listen to deathcore nearly as much as I used to. Some bands I've been listening to lately are:

Acid King
Bison B.C.
Black Pyramid
Chimpspanner
Goatsnake
Scale The Summit
Ufomammut
Om
Weedeater

Chimpspanner aside, whom i'm going to check out ASAP, I know and love every single band on that list. :D

Hey, I think I may have posted here once like 2 years ago, so I would like to formally join and start being a part of this club. I have been a metalhead for years. Here's my favorite bands:

1. Dream Theater
2. Symphony X
3. Metallica
4. Megadeth
5. Iron Maiden
6. DevilDriver
7. Pantera
8. Machine Head
9. All That Remains
10. Killswitch Engage

As you can see, I like many different sub-genres of heavy metal. I started listening to metal when my nephew showed me Metallica's Seek and Destroy one day. He couldn't believe I hadn't even heard of Metallica then. I'm also a bit of a metal nerd, I like to know as much about the bands I listen to as possible, while most people don't even know the name of the singer.

Uhhh, yeah. So am I in?

Just got back from Animals as Leaders and BTBAM. Broke my glasses while I was there. Other than that it was crazy awesome. I can't remember exactly what AAL played but here's what I can remember:

Tempting Time
Thoroughly at Home
A new song from the upcoming album
CAFO

They were really awesome, the rhythm guitarist had a nice little solo between a song. They also had some technical difficulties and whilst they were fixing it the drummer did a crazy solo too.

BTBAM's setlist went as follows:

1. Specular Reflection
2. Augment of Rebirth
3. Mirrors
4. Obfuscation
5. Disease, Injury, Madness
6. Prequel to the Sequel
7. Viridian
8. White Walls
9. Selkies: The Endless Obsession (Encore)

so yeah it was really really good and I met the bassist afterwards and he's a nice guy

The Motörhead show at Manchester Apollo last year was featured on The Wörld Is Yours DVD but they didn't even show me on the footages. I make an appearance on Opeth's In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall but it's very VERY brief. I didn't even catch the part myself. Labels are Future PLC and Roadrunner respectively.

It's not on an album but I can be seen on the Slough Feg show in London. It's hard to make out but at around 5:45, you will see me leaning back because I was far too close to the stage as well as Mike Scalzi. :P

Here's an extended preview of the Metallica/Lou Reed thing. It doesn't sound as terrible as the last one, I guess.

That was fucking awful until James kicked in. Please tell me Lou Reed actually CAN sing, that's like half singing/half speaking, it was weird. Still looking forward to this album, I just hope Lou Reed doesn't ruin it for me.

No, it was awful all the way through.

Singing/speaking comprises most of his vocal style, but the vocals here really suck. Based of old Velvet albums, he's a decent singer.

Still looking forward to this album, I just hope Lou Reed doesn't ruin it for me.

It's a Lou Reed album for the most part, so if anything, Metallica will ruin it. Based off the vocals on this song, it wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't over a metal riff, and a boring one at that. Metallica playing Lou Reed songs live with Lou Reed was a fairly good idea, but I don't know who decided it was a good idea to do this.
