So I've been longing to post that best album shit for days now, so now yay finally!
Best albums:
Annihilation of the Wicked - Nile. Why? Because all their other shit is boring and this one is not.
Virus - Hypocrisy. Because their last 2 albums sucked so bad everyone thought they were done for. Instead they made a killer album.
Alien - SYL. The reason is the album excists. It got released. That's all it takes to have a great album when your band is SYL :P

Shamefully enough, 2005 also brought some totally fucking gay albums:
Doomsday Machine - Arch Enemy. They already sucked, but they just keep slipping further and further into a big pool of crap.
Come Clarity - In Flames. I know I know, this one is supposed to come out next year, but I already heard it and it's just as gay as all other 'nu' In Flames. Which totally fucking gay.
(Place anything metalcore/numetal between these brackets :P)

I have to disagree. I heard it too and it's IMO a lot better than their last two releases. Not quite on par with their older stuff, but it's not bad. Anders actually learned how to sing, you can hear that in "Leeches". Guitar melodies are better, harmonies are better. He almost completely stopped whining and the drums sound a lot better as well. Not an awesome album, but I really think it's not a bad at all.

Yeah, Battles in the North is good, but not really great in my opinion. I think Immortal's later sound is much better than their earlier sound.

When you look at quality: yes, by far. I just like their old 'not melodic' sound better.
