Anybody else felt this was kick in the balls for bands like Amon Amarth ? XD
Boring death metal...... nope can't be.
AMON AMARTH IS AWESOME!!!

Polished repetitive melodeath riffing that brings to mind bands like AC/DC. Who else could it be?

I wish. No, just a playlist of stuff they listen to. Also their LP came out last June. Or was that just here?

So my dad and I just watched a documentary on Rush called Behind the Lighted Stage. Good shit, I highly recommend it. Lots of good details about their music.
So in an interesting turn of events the IRS gave me back money, so now I can buy albums again. Whooo.

I'm always obsessing over new kinds of music and jumping from genre to genre

Metal has so many diverse styles and satisfies so many varieties of taste and aural hunger that not even RnB or the majority of other genres can't quite reach.

Sadly I can never really devote myself to Metal to quite the same degree as the other patrons of hell and i'll probably never have my interest bleed to far out of the core I have developed of bands I like but i'm always looking for the next obsession and this club more than any other has a great way of finding, defining, and detailing where to look.

Metal offers a lot diversity and place for experimentation and exploration. It's great genre to mix with other musical genres as well.

Boring death metal masquerading as viking metal...

hmm, nope there's NO way that's Amon Amarth. *Rolls eyes*

Anyway, so manowar is amazing live.

The show was 75 bucks, but Holy Hell(The opener) played for 45 minutes and manowar played for three fucking hours. (And yes, they did in fact play Battle Hymns in entirety)

Manowar setlist:
1. Manowar
2. Death Tone
3. Metal Gaze
4. Fast Taker
5. Shell Shock
6. Dark Avenger
7. Battle Hymn
8. Sun Of Death (Guitar solo)
9. Brothers Of Metal
10. Blood of My Enemies
11. Thor (The Powerhead)
12. Kings of Metal
13. Kings of Metal (again, there's a story to this)
14. Herz Aus Stahl
15. William's Tale (Bass solo)
16. Warriors of the World United
17. Hail and Kill
18. House of Death
19. Hand of Doom
20. Thunder in the Sky
21. The Power
ENCORE:
22. Black wind, fire and steel
23. The Crown And The Ring

And merch was DIRT cheap, I got an entire shirt for only a mere 10 bucks.

Overall, it was amazing as fuck.

Make war, not love.

Not altogether, though. Still, that is an impressive setlist, despite them playing Kings of Metal TWICE in a row. Then again, I wouldn't mind hearing that song twice in a row.

Normally, shirts at shows cost 25-40 bucks.

I have never seen a shirt from a HEADLINING band at only 10 dollars. That's like the price of a pizza.

Yeah what happened is their was was a MASSIVE flow of crowdsurfers during the first kings of metal and the song before it, and like 30 seconds before the end of the first kings of metal(so basically at the end) joey(bassist) got pissed off, stopped playing and took the mic - the rest of the band stop playing.

Basically joey was like "PEOPLE DIDN'T PAY 75 BUCKS TO GET BASHED IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD BY CROWDSURFERS, KNOCK IT OFF OR GET THE HELL OUT"

And then they played the song over again, from the start.

It was pretty epic.

Also guys, anyone interested in going to progpower USA this year? if so, you better hurry up and order your ticket - tickets went on sale on friday and already three quarters of the tickets have been sold.

Crowdsurfing to anything but thrash metal, folk metal or punk is retarded.

Crowdsurfing to a band like Manowar is fucking stupid, what's next - crowdsurfing to immortal?

Please, state us the logical and so obvious rules of crowdsurfind, please !!!

But stopping during the outro of a song to complain about the people crowdsurfing is absolutely not fucking stupid, Right? Plus, the simple fact that he had to mention the price of the ticket just prooves how much of an asshole he is. And it confirms that I am right to hate Manowar.

Crowdsurfing to manowar is almost as stupid as moshing to sonata arctica.

BUT IF YOU FEEL SO INCLINED TO MOSH TO SONATA ARCTICA SOMETIME, THEN DO FEEL FREE.

People were legitimately getting hurt, it wasn't one or two crowdsurfers - it was like twenty crowdsurfers in the air all at once at a time.

Plus, the simple fact that he had to mention the price of the ticket just prooves how much of an asshole he is.

They played for three hours and all the merch was cheap, one could've gotten 200 bucks worth of merch for only 40.

And it confirms that I am right to hate Manowar.

Eeeh... No, it's absolutely not the same. And you won't proove you're point by making bad comparisons.

People were legitimately getting hurt, it wasn't one or two crowdsurfers - it was like twenty crowdsurfers in the air all at once at a time.

Yeah right. And you said it was the outro. Than finish the song, and tell them afterward.

And that still doesn't explain why crowdsurfing should only be allowed for some specific musical genres.

They played for three hours and all the merch was cheap, one could've gotten 200 bucks worth of merch for only 40.

He still stated the price of a ticket, for no other reason than bragging. And I don't care about the merchs. Someone who went there just for the gig, still payed 70 bucks.

And it confirms that I am right to hate Manowar.
lol hating a band, that's mature.

A band that is made of some of the most arrogant, self-loving and judgemental dicks. I've read a few things about Manowar, and every single time I was dissapointed with their arrogant and superior behavior.

It's not immature to hate someone who's being a total dick.

No, but it is totally immature to judge a band based off things OTHER than the music - I think Angra are the biggest cocks ever, I still love their music. I think Blackguard are great guys, but I still think they totally suck cock.

I really don't know about that. I went to a Stratovarius show and a CoB show when I was younger, and there was crowdsurfers. It really didn't feel like it was not fitting.

I'm talking about interviews and stuff they said as themselves and not the caracters that they play. I remember one of them said that downloading music was stupid. Nothing wrong so far. But he finished by saying that anyone who would download Manowar's music was not worthy enough to listen to their stuff anyway.

You see, I think that their personnalities and oversized egos translates in their music. While I know that they play caracters, they still have an arrogant behavior most of the time they make a public appearance. In your previous posts you told us about what one of the guys said to crowdsurfers. Maybe I'm wrong, but the way you told us that story, the guy really seemed to act like an ass. Stopping during a song to complain about crowdsurfers (with the unavoidable mention of the ticket's cost) is the kind of shit Axel Rose would do. Well... Axel would have spitted at the guy and cancelled the gig, but I guess Manowar are not that worst :P

That is pretty weird. I occasionally see crowdsurfers at power metal shows, but it's usually only one every now and then - not a constant flow of them like I see at thrash or folk metal shows.

I know, but you got to think - they're in their 50's. Do you honestly think they grasp the whole concept of the internet? My mom doesn't even, and she's 42.

Plus, other bands have shared similar views - including dream theater who most people here love and are known for being very nice people.

Yeah, but they replayed the song afterwards AND it was one of their most popular songs so no one cared PLUS it stopped the crowdsurfers which is what everyone wanted because WHO THE FUCK CROWDSURFS TO MANOWAR?

It wasn't really an asshole thing at all, I don't think - it was assholish to yell at the crowd but his intentions were good. Their was countless people in the air at a time in a ALREADY sold out and packed tight crowd and people were legitimately being hurt - lots of people were either being dropped or being kicked in the head.

Well yeah. It was every now and then. Is that ok? Like... it's not out of place when there is only some people doing it?

If you are talking about ambience, then yeah, I might understand why you are saying that.

I don't really care about them complaining against illegal downloading. It's the part where they say people who download are "Unworthy of Manowar".

Yeah, I know that :P I remember seing my foot end up on somebodies head real hard, once :P

I might get why some shows shouldn't have as much people crowdsurfing at once, as the ambience is quite different at a Thrash Metal show compared to a Manowar show.
