One of the best progressive metal bands, actually, and the best metal band to come out of Israel.

Freaky stuff.

oh hey everybody!
i haven't been posting recently 'cause i haven't been going on the computer because
1. wi-fi in my dorm is spotty as shit and sometimes my ethernet cable doesn't work
2. i'm too busy smoking pot, drinking beer and playing settlers of catan with my friends
and i'm too far behind to catch up, so lemme say some shit:
fuck yeah, 2400 pages! having been here for nearly four years, it's pretty rad to see the hell develop so much
when my friends hang out, we listen to one of two things: chill electronic music, or metal. and when we listen to metal, it's stoner metal (weedeater, red fang, sleep, electric wizard, etc.) and municipal waste B)
all my friends fucking love municipal waste. we listen to this song all the fucking time. BONER! CIT-AY!
i'm getting my friends into stoner metal and sludge metal and it's fucking rad. my friend ian told me about two super rad stoner/sludge bands that you guys should definitely check out: dopefight and cower.
when i was scrolling my way down the page, i saw you all talking about earth and sunn O))) and all that; who here has listened to earth's "and the bees made honey in the lion's skull"? fucking excellent album (but not all that metal, relatively speaking). i really want to listen to some earth or some sunn O))) next time i do a psychedelic. i feel like earth, at least, would be super fucking rad.
also not metal, but rad: i'm seeing streetlight manifesto (again) this friday
Going to see As I Lay Dying and Winds of Plague on March 11, I'm pretty excited!

This isn't the metalcore club.
So, have any of you guys heard of Persuader? I have had Evolution Purgatory for a while, thought it was pretty good, but nothing awesome. Then I decided to pick up their other two albums, The Hunter and When Eden Burns, and they are both pretty badass! These two albums have been playing in constant rotation since then, check 'em out!
Also, I've preordered Artillery's My Blood. Here's to hoping it will be awesome, like their last album!

Not bad. I think I need to give this band some time to get used to it. Although, I picked up Melechesh's The Epigenesis yesterday and I'm liking it a lot.

They're better than Evolution Purgatory? Like you, I thought Evolution Purgatory was good but nothing awesome except for the odd track or two. If these two albums are even better, I really need to get them. However, I feel I'm packed with stuff I need to get already. I'm wanting to get more albums with longer lengths, American epic metal and now some oriental metal. Along with all of them I'm trying to pick up all the new albums from bands I know.

I like what I've heard from Earth and Sunn O))) so far. I suggest you listen to the track Why Dost Thou Hide Thyself In Clouds? by Sunn O))). It's not really Metal, as their is not a lot of guitars... but the organ sounds amazing!

Hey, I like Metal so much! I just bought AC/DC's last album and I'm going to buy Motley Crue's t-shirt next week. But right now, my favorite band is Led Zeppelin...

I was merely stating that I forgot Metal Hell was extremely specific on what sort of metal is actually discussed here.

Well, you said Winds Of Plague and As I Lay Dying. I have to admit that these are not devoid of metal influences and elements shared with specifid metal sub-genres. But you are right, we have drawn a line between what is and what isn't metal, in our humble opinion.

I understand completely, I'm just not as in tune to all the sub genres like you guys are, so I just assumed that that was something that could be discussed here.
I have also pre-ordered both Devildriver and Turisas's upcoming albums, and am excited to receive them. I hope these two groups are discussable?

Yes they are.
Unfortunately, Devildriver is one of the bands I dislike the most in Metal. In fact, I think I just dislike Groove Metal in general. I think it's uninspired wannabe hardcore stuff. Only album I own by them is their self-titled and it sounds like a lame mix of Lamb Of God and Vulgar Display Of Power era Pantera. Maybe they got better? What do you think of their latest and earlier work?
And about Turisas, I think they are pretty good. Epic Folk is not really my cup of tea, but I think they make good music and I've heard they put on a great show.

dope, metallica. songs: Die mother fucker die, fuck that police, violence, rebel yell.

I think I'm not mistaken when saying they play a mix of Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal and Groove Metal.

Cowboys From Hell is the only Pantera album I really like. The rest range from bad to mediocre to ok. Vulgar Display of Power is the only other decent one, but that's more for a few individual songs than the album as a whole.

I actually find their self titled album to be my least favorite of their albums, it has a couple songs that I really like and enjoy listening to, but I find that Fury of our Maker's Hand and Pray for Villains were their better albums, in my opinion. I don't have a clear preference on their older or newer work, because the two albums I prefer by them are interspersed throughout their discography. With the release of Beast this could very well change, however.

Blah blah blah Devildriver
When I was into DevilDriver my favorite album was definitely Fury of our Makers Hand. Particularly the song Bear Witness Unto, the beginning was badass as far as DD goes.
I haven't really gotten into their new stuff, would you say they've gotten better? I've always been a fan of Dez Fafara's vocals, I think he could go far if he had some more creative streaks.
