Found out that Blood Red Throne might release a new album this year! Definately looking forward to that.

I'm surprised I didn't click onto this sooner. John Arch (former Fates Warning vocalist) announced a new project with the other members of the band besides Ray Alder called Arch/Matheos. I often get the two vocalists' names confused so I assumed it was with Ray Alder which didn't really interest me but now I realise it's with the previous vocalist John Arch. Here's hoping for a good release here since I much prefer John Arch over Ray Alder.

I suggest you download it online... Even though I try to support artists and labels as much as possible.

Métal Noir Québécois was great, the intro reminded me of a classical loop used in a Madness animation. I liked the solid blastbeats, and the atmosphere was nice and heavy. Months ago, I would have said that the mixing is bordering on white noise, but now what I hear creates and adds to an atmosphere that is enjoyable to listen to.

Atmospheric Black Metal is just amazing. This was a very good find. It was suggested to me on a MA thread on their forums. Right here.

La Seigneurie Des Loups was really interesting, I haven't listened to much dark ambient/drone music, although I have made some (unsubmitted) songs that border on drone now that I think of it. The guitar sounds awesome, nice and low. The filtered vocals are cool, they definitely make the song more gloomy sounding. The drums are sweet, as usual for black metal.

So you like it? :) Cool !! You probably already know of Boris and Sunn O))). If not, then I suggest you listen to some of their stuff. You might enjoy it.

Il était une forêt was impressive. It had a pretty epic feel that I really love. When I say epic, I don't just mean "this is really cool, what other word can I come up with that means I think it's cool...", I mean that it sounds inspiring in a way. Very positive element in a song for me. The song has an emotionally powerful feel that is added to when I read the lyrics in English.

The most depressive, mind-blowing, heart-shattering black metal I have ever heard. I couldn't sit through the listenning of the whole album, it's too fucking intense, but great music !!

Now that I'm out of review mode, time for a mention of my own. I don't know if they've already been discussed here, but I just discovered A Life Once Lost. I got their album Iron Gag and I really like it. It's kind of "simple" metal in way, or at least to me that word kinda describes it a bit. They remind me a bit of Strapping Young Lad with a bit of metalcore or something or another.... :P

I guess I will have to listen to the stuff you suggest, two :)

Thanks man... I was not asking for that much.. I almost feel bad I complainned in the first place now...

I already have many albums to get right now so I try to keep artist discoveries to a minimum, unless I REALLY want to find new bands. The one band I'm looking into right now is Melechesh after hearing about the latest album from several sites.

Same for me. When there is too much to listen to, I feel like I'm not giving enough attention to every single album I listen to.

Then there are the gems, which I won't list because we both know the same ones anyways.

True... The Tech Death scene is filled by wankers, tech death/deathcore shit or plain boring bands...

Anyway, if you like Death Metal in general, I suggest you listen to Onirik, the Italian DM band, not the Black Metal band. Sadly, they don't have a lot of material. The only tracks I know by them, I downloaded from the album The Da Vinci Death Code, which is a split they did with three other Italian bands (including Fleshgod Apocalypse).

The upside is that once you find a good one it never gets old. :D

Also true :)

What's your thing then? I know you like Old-School Death Metal and Traditionnal Doom, but that's pretty much all I know. I guess you probably also like Heavy Metal, amirite?

Their last album was pretty good :) Wasn't anything like Altered Genesis, but it was a great improvment compared to Come Death.

I really hope they release another masterpiece !!!

I actually don't know much about doom, but I'm starting to listen to Paul Chain. Been putting him off for years. Anyway, it's true. I've got a massive hardon for OSDM. But, that's not all I listen to. I also like bestial black metal, 60s/70s rock (I know that's pretty broad, and vague, but if it's rock from the 60s or 70s I'll probably like it), 80s USPM, space rock, zeuhl, some neofolk. Oh yeah. I also like Dead Can Dance. I bet that'll surprise you. I actually like a lot of shit, not to sound pretentious or anything, but it would take too long to mention it all, since this is meant to be a short post. I would say check out my last.fm, but I got banned today and I have no idea why. So, if you want, check out my RYM instead.

And as for the more bestial, the new Blasphemophagher is awesome.

I've lately been on a music buying stint as opposed to downloading, it feels good to know that I'm putting a few dollars in the collective pocket of a band. 'Specially since I'm an aspiring musician myself.

But when you do that you're spending an eternity listening to them all enough times. All the albums I got for Christmas and the stuff I bought afterwards I'm still listening through to get used to all of them or at least the majority. It's been a little over a month since Christmas and I'm still listening to them.

Expanding my horizons again seeing as I finally had some time in quiet to absorb some music into my head.

Listened to some cool tracks from Dream Theater, Agalloch and other bands I hadn't familiarized myself with prior to know.

I hope you die in a fire. Rap and hip-hop, as well as classic rock, blues, jazz, and pretty much any other genre you can think of besides pop are all respectable genres, and didn't do shit to you.
Besides, that attitude won't get you anywhere worth going unless you like deathcore shitfests.
IF you manage to make some cool, original music, I'll consider rescinding my previous statement.

Till then eat shit and die.
