Who else can't wait for Sever the wicked hand?

Crowbar is the heaviest band ever. Literally. They weigh more than any band out there.

Well if we're literally talking about weight, there's lots of things that are heavier than crowbars.

So I've made this little playlist, which is my personnal top 10 for black metal tracks. I'm not that much into raw black metal, and you know that I like progressive and atmospheric stuff, so don't hope for trve black metal and super grim stuff.

Tell me what you guys think, and maybe share some songs you think would fit on the list.

For your tastes? Newer Drudkh like shit from Blood in Our Wells and later (songs like When The Flame Turns To Ashes), Miserere Luminis - Le Mal Des Siècles, Chaos Moon - Waning, Orrery (They've only got one album), Sombres Forêts - The Forest, Lustre - This Mighty Sight, Cher - If I Could Turn Back Time, A Forest of Stars - God and Cry of Silence - In The Majesty of Death and Mortality.

Correcting my grammar? That would of been lame back in the day, but at the end of the day, it would OF to be very special and touching to my heart, that you would of corrected me, so I would of bettered myself.

So I would of to thank you for that.

I still haven't heard the latest High on Fire. I'm sure I will eventually.

Oh snap.

dark jazz? hmm...

It's pretty nice, I'll have to give them a few more listens.

I didn't think it was bad, the shitty "harsh" vocals aside. I'll stick with the original, though.

I found it pretty annoying. Speaking of covers, they're doing a remake of Total Recall. Wtf.

Crowbar is the heaviest band ever. And in terms of weight, there is nothing heavier than the guts of all the members of Crowbar.

Listen to Ras Algethi instead. Much better. If they sound similar to Opeth, it's because Opeth ripped them off and then watered it down.

I've been doing some light listening and I have come to enjoy what Ras Algethi does. It's very different from what I would usually identify as Metal but it kind of reminds me of Enya in the way it kind of captures the imagination and uses that echoing kind of style that sounds like a church choir or something of that sort.

The problem for me with both Opeth and Ras Algethi is that these songs are usually so long and there simply isn't enough changing and 'going on' in the song for a large part of it that my eyes kind of glaze over and I don't even notice it. I might be enjoying the song for about 3 or 5 minutes before it starts to kind of fade into the background of what I'm doing. This seems to be a problem for me when it comes to the longer songs of Progressive. It's odd they call it progressive because I rarely ever feel like the song is building up to anything, it just kind of drones after a while.

All this talk of metalcore saddens me. People seem uneducated to bands such as Zao and Converge. They're a million times better than killswitch engage or as i lay dying, and they don't sound as mainstream or annoying, or screamo influenced. They're really the perfect mix of metal and hardcore I've ever seen.

Zao is fairly straightforward with their stuff, focusing on heavy bone crushing guitar riffs, while Converge bombard the listener with sonic distortion, dissonance, obscure song lyrics and technical guitar riffs. They're among my favorite metal bands. If you haven't heard of them before, take a listen.

Aren't Suicidal Tendencies metalcore? I haven't listened to them before but I have heard the association of their music with metalcore a few times now. Care to enlighten me on this?

Technically yes, and technically no. If you consider metalcore as simply punk/hardcore and metal, than yes. If you consider metalcore as the new wave of american heavy metal bands, than no. Many prefer to label ST as crossover thrash, because they consider bands like as i lay dying, atreyu, god forbid, or killswitch engage as metalcore.(im not a fan of the style of those bands, tho)

I don't know, there's a lot of confusion about genre titles these days. Luckily, I listen to a lot of bands that can't be defined by any label.

Definitely should check out converge, and zao, tho. They're the perfect blend of beautiful, heavy chaotic sonic distortion. A total barrage of musical talent, and ear drum puncture. In short: fucking awesome.

Nope. They are punky-thrash, their first album was pretty punk (crossover). Suicidal are kick arse, not fag-core.

I used to listen to Converge when I was 14 or something, stopped listening though.

I had the album "You Fail Me". Pretty cool artwork on all their albums hey. I might download an album..

There, that clears up my confusion on what Suicidal Tendencies are. Of course, I know there's a difference between metalcore and crossover thrash/punk-thrash.

I really should give Suicidal Tendencies a try, though.

My mate randomly showed them to me a while ago and I really like them, you can tell where Municipal Waste got their influences from aha (well for Hazardous Mutation at least)

Anyway last night I was informed that Lazarus A.D are playing in my city in March :D I'm creaming my pants already as I love them :D also I'll be by 18 then so I can drink at the bar and drunk mosh with proper metalheads, whoop. Sick of all the scenefags at the gigs I go to.

Also last night I was walking back from the kebaby and randomly heard some guy behind me talking about technical death metal, and I said to him I LIKE YOUR TALK MATE, YOU'RE COOL (yeh I was a bit under the influence), so he says to me 'no you don't, you're not metal, go out and buy a real leather jacket you dick'

...

What a cunt

Maybe he thought you were sarcastically taking the piss out of him. That would be one of my presumptions if a drunk guy turned around and said that to me.
