That's right. The list is acceptable.

It definitely does. The new Agalloch was good, but the new Solefald is excellent.

They have an album called Director's Cut and it's all adaptions of movie themes.

great album even though I didn't know most of the themes.

Kind of pissed I'm broke. SSP has some really good shit up for order. New Goatpenis limited to 500 on green vinyl for pre-order. Nyogthaeblisz LP limited to 500. Ouroboros' first EP and full length on vinyl. Pseudogod's first demo on vinyl and a live DVD. Bah. At least I have Nyogthaeblisz and Pseudogod.

I like some of the bands on the last.fm top ten. Specifically, the National, Arcade Fire, and Vampire Weekend's first album (since I never really cared enough to get their new one). And I heard a Mumford & Sons song once and I thought it was decent, but I don't count that. The rest of the list alternates between passable, trash, and good. The Black Keys, the National, Arcade Fire, Yeasayer and Massive Attack are the only artists on there that I listen to with any sort of regularity, though.

Response to Metal Hell 2010-12-21 02:10:50

I can honestly say I don't listen to, haven't heard of, or dislike all of the bands on that chart. Not one good artist in my opinion. I mean, that gay 30!H3 band or whatever is on there? Rihanna? The stuff is either way too popular shit that's horrible or pretentious hipster crap.

Yeah, I'm pretty fucking surprised that she made it to the top of the list. She is talented though, but she doesn't show it in the music that she produces, which fucking baffles me. I've heard her sing in contexts outside her publicly released music, and she's got a pretty good voice. What a shame, an actually talented artist getting famous for making shit.

To be a good artist, you have to have more than a good voice. It's not because you know how to sing, that you are a good artist.

Maybe she can sing, but she can't write... Her music is worth nothin...

I've heard her live and I would not say she has a good voice at all

It may be preference seeing as my favorite singers are guys like Marvin Gaye and Bill Withers but I nonetheless find her droning insufferable.

It's made even worse when mixed with autotune and garbled electronic beats. Not to mention, as Deff said, her writing is very boring and typical.

I've always felt that when T-Pain started using it and showed all of the interesting ways it could be used other people decided that since people seemed to like it they would throw it in everything whether it be for lack of creativity or to blatantly cover up sub par singing.

Yeah I just listened to them both. New Agalloch is good, new Solefald fucking rules. I'm fucking in love with 'Vitets Vidd I Verdi'. Has this AWESOME chorus where at first it's this weird brass riff with cowbells then in busts in to this wicked chorus.

By the way, the chorus riff is really similar to this Pink Floyd riff from the song 'Echoes', I thought that was interesting.

They have an album called Director's Cut and it's all adaptions of movie themes.
great album even though I didn't know most of the themes.

Yeah me neither. I popped on the first track 'The Godfather' and my friends like "This is the Godfather" then the heavy death metal-esque King Buzzo riff busts in and I'm like "Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeea h it is".

Rest in peace. I must now listen to Willie the Pimp by Frank Zappa in remembrance.
