Btw Xarnor, I forgot, you could introduce him to some better core bands. I know a lot of people in here who hate all metalcore, but that's not the case for me. And I think The Human Abstract, Protrest the Hero and I, Omega are pretty cool metalcore bands.

Fair enough, I'll give you that bands do fade away with time. Nu Metal being a good example. But they have left something of a legacy. Linkin Park, Papa Roach, KoRn, Slipknot, all these bands still get headlining slots at festivals for the nostalgia factor. There isn't anything new happening, but I don't like this attitude that this music is purely made for money. There are people who genuinely enjoy it (and they're not all 13 years olds and kids. Plenty of adults do too).
And as for your Emo bands, we don't know whether or not they'll fall away. Only time will tell. They probably will, but still.

You serious? You can't tell the difference between a community, sharing similarities... and teenage wanna-be rebellion?

A teenage wanna-be-rebellion that share similarities and hang out together in communities?

Urgh, if I keep replying this if going to go on forever. I'll cut it short and just say I think you're a snob :P.
But you'll grow out of it :).

Both, actually. I've already asked for seven albums for Christmas and my sister's list of CDs she wants is full of metal as well. I've already gotten her an album or two so it depends how the other members of my family can get them, even though I've offered help to get any CDs for her. Along with whatever albums we'll be getting for Christmas, I'll be sure to give a listen to what my dad gets, especially when he'll be getting Queen's The Game and Pink Floyd's Animals (I know they're not metal but it's more stuff to listen to over the holidays).

You have an awesome family :0 My dad is into Pink Floyd and all that jazz, but nobody in my family into metal.

i'm too skinny to not wear skinny jeans. if i wear normal-fit jeans, they just make me look skinnier 'cause they're so loose. i think tight-fitting clothes are more comfortable anyway.

I'm skinny too... And they sure are more comfortable except when you get a boner lol. And skinny jeans look better, normal-fit jeans make me look like a rapper.

On the topic of hair (hairy topic hurr durr). My hair only gets by my shoulders, and it's like a wavy almost straight but it curls in the end, and that's annoying.

God, I have this one pair of corduroy pants that are absurdly tight at the waist and crotch, but fit normally everywhere else. they give me a huge fucking bulge and whenever i'm hanging out with friends in those pants they always make fun of me for the watermelon in my pants.

Easily traditional heavy metal just like Manilla Road and Slough Feg.

Good Christian Metal? Believer. One of the most kickass thrash bands I've heard. I've been pushing them a lot, and I AM GOING TO REINFORCE IT DAMMIT! Plus they're coming out with a new album next year. So now is a good time to get into them!

I shan't be getting anything Metal related for Christmas. Unless pyjamas count as Metal. Which they should!

May be getting a vinyl player though. That'd be good. Though my collection of one currently lacks any brutality... Kate Bush's 'The Kick Inside'.

Still, Wuthering Heights :P.

What would you recommended from Helloween and what bands are like them?

If you like Helloween then you'll like power metal and speed metal. Gamma Ray (ex-Helloween vocalist!) and Blind Guardian are good places to start.

I wouldn't say Nu-Metal is a trend. The silly trends in core like... Hello Kitty is awesome this week, next week black painted nails will be awesome. This week it's all about putting some electronic music during our chug-chug riffs. Next week it's going to be about pig-squeals...

Btw, even adults follow trends. It doesn't mean that these will not just fade out has fast.

A teenage wanna-be-rebellion that share similarities and hang out together in communities?

Yup! A community that will fade with time :P I guess. I may not be using the proper words... I'm talking about something that is in your personality, an identity... or... dunno how to say it. But I doubt these kids will have emo fringes for their entire life. Emo music being mostly made for teenagers (lyrical themes, looks, etc) is not something that will live on forever, since these kids will eventually grow up. Maybe some other kids will replace them... I dunno.

Gambling With The Devil

As for bands, I don't know. Denta suggested you listen to GammaRay. I have to go with that two, though they are way too fucking cheesy... Some of their stuff is still fucking awesome :)

I also suggest you listen to some Voyager. These guys are awesome :)

You have no idea how jealous I am... I would buy a drum set myself if I had the money or room for it. I live in a tiny apartment and I don't even have a job right now...

Anyway, I might start playing the bass. My brother is selling his bass guitar (he never used it), and I'll probably get it pretty cheap since I'm his sister and all. Do any of you know how much a bass guitar usually costs?

At 12/14/10 02:28 AM, HeavenDuff wrote: Anyway, you guys will be giving or receiving any Metal gifts for Christmas this year?

I wrote a list of about 30 CDs (not all metal) I want, and some t-shirts. That's all I want for Christmas. I have everything else I need (or want) that isn't too expensive.

High five! Helloween have a lot of awesome stuff, even in the Deris-era which gets shunted by many listeners. It's understandable why some aren't fond of Deris' vocals but Helloween can still write good songs without Hansen and Kiske.

What would you recommended from Helloween and what bands are like them?

Dent may have mentioned Gamma Ray already but I have to agree with that TWICE! It doesn't get any better than them for similarities, especially when the frontman Kai Hansen was in Helloween. Be sure to check them out when you can! Awesome songs from Gamma Ray include Rebellion in Dreamland, Man on a Mission, Somewhere Out in Space, Armageddon, Hand of Fate and many more.

Except for The Keeper's Trilogy which is alright.

The fact that I put "You are now listening to Radio Disney" on my review summary for the album says it all. At least they went back to METAL with 7 Sinners as they should be playing and not acoustic pop garbage. The latest one isn't one of Helloween's best but it's 10000x better than Unarmed. Hell, even Chameleon is tons better than Unarmed.

I know I couldn't write a review for this album... as I do not really understand what happenned. The idea of recording music like this is not bad...

I mean, if any other artist would have released an album of that genre of music, I really wouldn't mind, but the fact that this is Helloween and that they are just ruinning some of their best tracks is what is getting the most to me... like... wtf...

I Want Out is definitely the worst... It seems that the more I like the original song, the more I will hate the remake on Unarmed...
