I've been avoiding the internet for the last 2 weeks or whatever it was.

Two new Slough Feg songs have been posted. You can hear Second Coming here and Lycanthropic Fantasies here. Still great stuff but I feel this album is a step back from everything since Down Among the Deadmen. Even with that it'll probably be better than the majority of releases this year.

Hmm...I enjoyed the songs, but not as good as any given song off Ape Uprising or Traveler. In other metal news, Symphony X confirms an album out this year and early 2011 tour dates to support it, but not official dates on either of them.

Ashes Against the Grain
The Mantle
Agalloch/Nest split

I value certain songs on each album equally, though I've stacked them in order of which they have the most consistently good tracks. Pale Folklore and The White I enjoy in their entirety. Their split with Nest being at the bottom because Nests half of that split is amazing whereas Wolves of Timberline, an already fairly boring song, is made even more boring by comparison to Last Vestige of Old Joy. I still need to check out more of Nests stuff as that's the only song I've heard by them and I love it.

Anyone have heard of Endless Sorrow? It's a Depressive Black Metal band, and I just got their demo "Hopeless", and it's really... depressive. I loved it, it's not just Depressive Black Metal, it has emotion, I was almost crying between his screams of despair. Anyway, the demo is a little bit repetitive, but it's still worth listening.

Yeah, this feels like a step-down from Ape Uprising. Then again, I still need to hear the other seven tracks and Tactical Air-War has got to be good considering it's meant to be a fast number as well as Bobby Wright making a guest appearance.

I highly doubt they'll release the new album this year. 2011 is very likely, though and that'll be another album to look forward to next year.

Nev, it pains me to disagree, but I too have to say I really enjoy them. Although they are fairly popular, and I don't have a lot to compare to when it comes to knowing many others under that sub genre.

They are amongs one of the best atmospheric metal bands out there. Each one of their albums has a unique sound and feeling. The ambiences are great and can make you think about a billion different things, especially with the lyrics.

Have you ever listenned to Falling Snow by them? I suggest you give it a few listens and listen to the lyrics. Strangly, this song reminds me of silence, of silence in a winter forest. It's kind of strange to say that a song could make you think of silence, right? Well, it does.

Since you live in England, I thought it would be easier to catch the feeling of their music for you. With all the fog and rain, you guys have pretty much the same climate as the state of Oregon, which is obviously one of their inspirations for their music.

If you are not listenning to their music for the ambiences, then of course, you won't like it. Even though the riffs are catchy and awesome. Most important part of their music is pretty much the ambience, then follows the song structures themselves. I still think they are pretty amazing on all the levels :)

Been a while since I posted so I thought I'd say that I just saw Children of Bodem and Black Label Society in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Zack played a 10 minute long solo that kicked ass, he played a piano solo too. Bodem fucked shit up and closed with Hatecrew death roll which had downfall played before it.
