tobi is the name of my cat
also that deathy twist is the sludge influence; check out some other sludge/stoner bands. weedeater are a good choice.
I can't be the only person here who smiles everytime someome mentions a band like Iwrestledabearonce, ADTR, Carnifex, Disturbed or Winds of Plague in a derogatory sense, right?
I love all types of music except R'N'B, because that's just shit.
It just makes me wonder how a lot of you guys jizz over certain bands (tech death, melodic death etc.) yet shit on other bands with such extreme hate.
Is it really so hard to like something other than brutal death metal or whatever?

You hurt your credibility by liking Winds of Plague and iwrestledabearonce. Those bands are at Brokencyde level of shitty. The rest is shitty, but those two bands just make everyone facepalm and go "Did he really? ...Oh god, what a huge faggot."

I disagree. iwrestledabearonce have some good talent, if they'd just give up the shitty scenecore writing style they could be a good band.

See this is what I'm talking about, who the fuck cares about credibility?! It's just my taste in music is more widespread than yours, I listen to plenty of Death Metal, Tech Death, Prog, Stoner, Sludge, Black, etc. as well as them.
Just because I like some bands that other people consider shit doesn't mean that's the only type of music I listen to, and it doesn't mean I'm the kind of guy who only listens to stupidly brutal underground bands that no ones ever heard of, while looking down upon anyone who dares listen to some mainstream bands.
That's called being a closed-minded elitist prick.

Hey, man. Do you honestly expect me to take you seriously when you go on about how openminded you are for listening to all that stuff + bargain bin -core stuff?
Am I the only one who enjoyed Blessed are the Sick? Sure, it had a few odd tracks but I liked the variety the album offered. Before I gave Morbid Angel a try, the only death metal band I was familiar with was Cannibal Corpse so listening to Morbid Angel was a breath of fresh air. This does remind me that I STILL need to get Altars of Madness.

I liked Blessed are the Sick and Covenant. I know Altars of Madness was easily their best record, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy their other stuff.

I am open-minded about music in general, I wasn't talking about core music specifically, they were just bands that I named off the top of my head.
I'm just saying that only listening to specific types of music because of how other people view them is lame, people can listen to whatever they want. For example I hate R'n'B because it requires no talent whatsoever, but several of my friends listen to it, so does my sister, I don't start heated discussions about how metal is far superior because she doesn't like it, therefore her interest in it as a genre is zero.
See what I'm getting at? I'm not trying to come off as an arrogant know-it-all, even if it may seem that way.
woah metal drama 24/7
Seriously Dalnaki, stop it. Even if you hate something, theres no need in fighting someone just becuase they like it. Yeah, unless it's made in joke, I hate most -grind stuff. But I'm not gonna preach to someone how stupid they are for liking it. Everybody has different tastes. If we didn't, this argumenet wouldn't be happening. And see how ZpLiNtEh detested the music, but not the people who listen to it? See, thats called not being a dick. You should learn from him if you wanna boast an argument that people will take seriously. Better yet, don't argue, and respect another's musical opinion, which is possibly the most trivial thing to argue over in the world.

I like a thousand of different musical genres. But ADTR is horrible. All they do is chug, breakdowns, clean vocals to sound catchy, clean melodic riffs over breakdowns, stupid lyrics and no kind of originality or creativity.
I like everything and anything that is good, Jazz, Metal, Classical, whatever. There is ever a few good core bands. But ADTR is pathetic.

There is elitism and there is another thing called... "having taste".
Chugcore, thugcore, breecore, crunckcore and all the ridiculous other "core" genres, are mostly all pathetic and boring uncreative genres...

A lot of metalheads, like myself, belive that core is an insult to metal (not all core, but a lot of core). Core is basically a genre that takes from others, make it more simple, more commercial, more radio friendly. The problem with that, is that in general, people see core as metal music. I know people who listen to BlessTheFall, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red and all that core music and who still believe, even though I told them countless times how wrong they are, that they listen to metal music.
I was thinking about going to the Summer Slaughter Tour this year... and guess what... The Red Chord is on the set... I was thinking about going to the Heavy MTL in Montreal this year... guess what... Winds Of Plague was on the show...
Hey, wanna go to the Vans Warped Tour to see some Punk music? Hey, guess what... Suicide Silence is on the show...
Just tell me why core as to invade every single scene in the world?
Still, I can understand why Dal is getting on your nerves...
This band's bassist fucking blows my mind.
Eat tech-death, Dal.

This is mainly for Coops when he comes to ban us for saying it - and anyone else who'd be familiar with him. But my parents both call Liverpool's "striker" David N'gog 'nignog'. If it wasn't so racist it'd be very charming in a Northern kind of way.
At 8/3/10 07:37 PM, Nev wrote: This is mainly for Coops when he comes to ban us for saying it.
I don't know why, but I thought this was really funny.
I got a mental image of a shadowy figure, cloaked in the night, coming to claim those who through some slip of the tongue or perhaps through real hatred, make use of offensive terms. He cares not whether you said it in jest or whether you are genuinely prejudiced. He cares only for the sense of righteousness that his twisted quest gives him.
Love you really, Coop.
Ha wait, is "nignog" actually offensive in the UK or something? No one says it around here and my friends and I just kind of use it as a nonsense word for anything.

Cute story. You're gonna burn!
But yes. It's perhaps not used in the same tone that 'n***er' is. In that you'd never hear someone say it aggressively cause they'd sound like tits. But its definately not something that'd go down well if you said it out loud.

Meh, I dislike metalcore because it's basically watered down Gothenburg (which also sucks) with some added boy band vocals. The fact that it's a commercial "genre" makes me like it even less. Not to mention that arguing with people about is useless. If they like that shit, I'll think they're gay. I won't try to "convert" them or anything as you guys so "generously do."
By the way, it's not an insult to metal. It's an insult to everyone's intelligence.

I think A day to remember is an alright band. They have some songs that are catchy and put me in a good mood, even though there's nothing revolutionary about their music. I can understand why some people like them a lot.
I'd rather listen to them than any generic neo-thrash band.
