I thought 'extreme metal' was the genre where bands would perform extreme sports and stuff whilst playing their instruments?

hur hur hur

There are definitely some face palming moments in this thread thanks to the new members. Hyperdouche being one of them.

He was talking about Gaahl. Who else was he talking about, Infernus? Infernus is the guitarist.

Dude you are so offensive. And quick to be offended. Some would compare your quick to be offended and also offensive personality to.... Menstruation.

Ensiferum = melodic death metal but with folk bits.

If it's melodeath, why does it distinguish itself from the majority of melodeath bands out there? They sound so different to In Flames, Dark Tranquility and such it's not even funny.

I wasn't comparing them music wise, just comparing that saying either one of them is folk metal is misinformed.

I can understand Alestorm but Ensiferum? I think you're the one who's misinformed.

It doesn't help when you start saying Opeth's first two albums have black metal elements in them.
1.) Black metal elements, not black metal.

Read my post again, I said BLACK METAL ELEMENTS!

2.) *Cough*

Hardly sounds like black metal. You do realise that's a demo track, right?

Hey, my friend introduced me to this awesome metal band, but I can't remember the name. What I can remember is that they didn't edit their music at all, and the vocalist had a really squeaky, sort of country-like voice. Can you tell me what it is?

I don't think it's a bad album at all, but I'm still not going to buy it.

It's not really my type of music. It's more like a modern Hard Rock album than any sort of Metal.

I think Metalcore is a bit of a misnomer. I mean, Metalcore doesn't really have much in common with Hardcore Punk. Hardcore Punk is about being fast, raw, and to the point. Most Metalcore is melodic, polished, and pretty pretentious.

Well, to the guys who said that Ozzy is sounding bad, just take comfort in the fact that this is probably his last album.
But Let it Die is still a damn good song.

There are quite a few bands names Obscura. I assume you are talking about the German band playing Progressive/Technical Death Metal. Right?
And Psycroptic is also tech death.

So might as well start with some Technical Death Metal.

Blood Red Throne is one of the most awesome Death Metal bands out there. Their riffs are unique and still, they define the Death Metal genre perfectly. They have an awesome vocalist, badass guitar and one of the best bassists ever :) You might want to start with their album Altered Genesis and maybe Affiliated with the Suffering.

Benighted, a great act from France. Their most recent work includes a few core elements while they are not as obvious as in let's say, BTM's works. I suggest you listen to Icon and then ICP (Insane Cephalic Production).

Origin is one of the most technical and most brutal bands on the Death Metal scene. I really can't say which one of their albums you should check first. I already own Antithesis and Echoes Of Decimation. Antithesis is my favorite, but the other album is also quite fucking powerful. I'm also thinking about getting Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas.

Gorod, very Technical, but not quite as agressive as what you are used to. I really dig their stuff, especially Process Of A New Decline :)

Blotted Science. A band I always suggest when someone ask me about Death Metal. While they are not straight down Death Metal, you can still feel the influences. My favorite supergroup :) Get their only release so far... The Machinations Of Dementia.

Quo Vadis, very melodic, but not like Melodic Death Metal is melodic. Still an awesome Tech Death band with a great feeling in their music. Get the album Day into Night.

A few other bands I could suggest: Fleshgod Apocalypse, Suffocation, Nile, Decrepit Birth. I don't know these bands a lot, but I know that a lot of the guys in the Hell really like Fleshgod Apocalypse and Nile :)

More Death Metal: Kronos, Cryptopsy (None So Vile is their best album), Cynic, Decapitated, Krisiun, Panzerchrist, Behemoth (I hate their music, but some people like them, some people don't) and Decapitated of course :)

Hope that will help you :)

You put your guitar in standard and then tune every string down 1 tone. EADGBE becomes DGCFAD.

I know, but like I posted in the guitar club, for every string I downtune two more also randomly change tuning. Would it still be the same tuning check though? like 6th string 5 fret=open 5th string?

I myself don't like deathcore. I know a few people who do. My cousin likes deathcore a lot. Anyway, most people who like deathcore were never exposed to music from history, where the good shit comes from, and where we should learn from. Here are some death metal bands, not deathcore bands, you should listen to.

Atheist
Behold... The Arctopus
Benighted
Blotted Science, as HeavenDuff said, are tits. Very techy.
Carcass
Dawn (Death/Black)
Death
Dissection (Death/Black)
Fleshgod Apocalypse (Fast fast fast fast so damn fast)
Gorguts (My favourite death metal band)
Gorod (My other favourite death metal band(
Immolation (Have a great old school New York death metal sound on their debut.)
Opeth (Progressive death metal. Incorporates acoustic guitars, clean singing, other odd things.)
Suffocation (Also share a great old school New York death metal sound on their first three albums.)

You should be right with that. All of those bands a fucking excellent. If you like the Fleshgod Apocalypse kind of style you should also check out Braindrill, Hour of Penance, Origin, and you would already know about Necrophagist.

I got Blind Guardian's new single and I really like it. A Voice in the Dark kicks ass, You're the Voice is a great cover and War of the Thrones is along the lines of A Past and Future Secret and Skalds and Shadows which is very good. This is the acoustic version so I'm guessing the album version will have a different feel to it.

Also, to whoever recommended Kamelot to me, I got their Epica album from Play.com for £3.50 during the Summer sale.

What's really off putting about Ozzy's new album is the production of his vocals. I think he's completely lost it. Infact, it makes me hope Ozzy will never make another album with Black Sabbath.

Honestly, I don't see why you guys are complaining about Ozzy's new album. To be even more honest, I don't even know why you're listening. It also blows my mind that you expect it to be good. This is a man who has made a career off of filler.
