I think you should buy an Eddie scarcrow and immortalize it.

I still do listen to Trivium and Slipknot occasionally. Trivium is made up of decent musicians, and Slipknot, while not metal, aren't really all that bad.
I must admit, I don't know Slipknot for that long, it was introduced to me probably 2 years ago, by a guy that today totally hates them, and turned into a completely thrash, heavy, power metal poser. But the first real Death Metal band I've ever liked, well I don't know if you guys call it real Death Metal or no, was Max Cavalera's Sepultura. I was totally addicted to "ROOTS! BLOODY ROOTS!", that was a real big deal for me...

Sorry, I don't get it.

I made that mistake as well. I'm not proud of it but I've easily moved on from them.

I still think it's a shame how Trivium have talented musicians yet their musicianship isn't established as well as it should be.

I'm sorry but there's something not right about the term speed metal. It's always a tricky one for me.

Hey, it's a good way to know which bands to not even look into. However, there may be that one odd band that's good but has a long name.
I keep hearing Nevermore thrown around recently, are they any good? And what are they? Like what genre?

I was expecting you to mention Schizophrenia, but I'm just kidding myself. You guys probably don't even know Sepultura had a good album. Roots Bloody Roots is partly responsible for all this -core shit. I can see why you love it.

Meh, I enjoy all of Sepultura's albums before Roots. Chaos A.D. and before are all great (in my opinion).

Btw, Machine Head received an award from Metal Hammer for the best Live band... Damn! I want to see them alive so much!

Like progressive thrash metal.
Only not progressive, just prog elements.

Easy. If all they listen to is Metallica, Judas Priest, and Dragonforce then they're a poser. But of course, that's just the most common type.

Saw them live... No big deal...
In fact, this band really is no big deal at all. I can't understand why they get so much attention...

Well he only listen to it and refuse to listen to anything else, isn't that being a poser?

No, being a poser is saying you listen to metal while listening to little-to-no metal.
...how did you not know that?

Well I think Machine Head is great... but that's me... Two of my friends went to see them last year and said they were great... also Halo is an epic song damn it...

That!! My friend, is epic :)
A poser is anybody who tries to fit in. Doesn't matter what bands they listen to.
A poser can be anything, from your typical white boy suburban Canadian listening to OSDM because it's "cool, yo" or the trendy girls who listen to BM because it's Starbucks friendly to even you.
But seriously. You can't generalize posers. They're everywhere.
At 6/15/10 05:27 PM, DeIirium wrote: A poser is anybody who tries to fit in. Doesn't matter what bands they listen to.
Well that's the actual definition.
In terms of modern metal a poser is someone who listens to a bunch of core and/or really mainstream metal bands and thinks he/she's truly metal.
In terms of 80's/early 90's metal a poser is someone who listens to a bunch of glam and/or power ballad groups and thinks he/she's truly metal.

I find it funny everybody here knows Alcest now.
Cause pretty sure six or seven months ago I asked this club what they thought of them and nobody knew who I was talking about.
Also, i'm still fucking pissed off at them for canceling their boston show on their north america tour earlier this year. :'(

I found them on a metal magazine, but then I had the luck of founding them on the blog I use to download music from.

I think somebody who tries to be as tr00 as possible and looks for the most underground bands to listen to and is constantly wearing a denim vest with metal patches and other shit like that is also a pretty huge poser.

My version of the poser is one of these scene fa***ts who claim to be metal heads but listen to this metalcore deathcore emo screamo bullshit. They get furious when you call them a poser but last time I recalled wearing tight jeans,a tight shirt and skateboarding WAS NOT METAL!!! It sickens me to see how many of these bastards roam the earth. They are destroying the very name of metal it's self. I bashed the shit out of one the other day on Xbox live for calling himself a metal head but listening to slipknut and all deathcore bullshit. He was the typhical pissy bitch.
My perfect example of a poser, MegaLDeth.
Oh hey I listen to mainstream heavy metal and megadeath is the most metal band evar! Every other metal genre suck!

You're so lucky you weren't this age back in the 80's. Haha.
I've actually been told quite frequently I look like I belong somewhere from 60-80. People always comment on " how metal I am" but I usually don't even notice. Everything I do is somehow related to metal according to friends.
Well, I look like Varg out of prison now (without the beard). It'll grow back in two months.

This :)
Or people who listen to True Norwegian Black Metal or other kvlt and tr00 bands and pretend to be more metal than other metalheads.

Funny you say so, cause I've liked their music for ages :)
Well... not ages, but since Souvenirs d'un autre Monde.

I heard Neige was not the one singing when they played in Montreal. He's probably sick or somethin'
Can't wait for my first paycheck. Im gonna make a nice subscription to Decibel Magazine. Haven't read a good metal magazine in awhile. I used to read revolver until it turned into a metalcore screamo bullshit magazine. I would like to subscribe to Terrorizor magazine but I don't wanna buy individual magazines.
My dad once said, "Iron Maiden? They're heavy." I felt like faceplaming. He knows nothing.
