Speaking of Ireland, Mael Mórdha's new album came out a couple of days ago.

Yup! I saw that on a website giving dates of shows in Montreal and Quebec. Looking through a list of shows to come, I saw that Cynic were also coming in Montreal. Can't believe that these guys always play in small rooms... I really thought Cynic was well-known... especially considering that two of the guys in this band are from the band DEATH.

I've seen Cynic twice:

First time was all the way up in fucking Maine and they were opening for Dragonforce + Mygaysugar. They had a 30 minute set.

The second time was in Boston(MUCH, much closer to me by about 8 hours. lol) - they were opening for BTBAM and this show they had a 45 minute set.

So in short: They are well known, but not anywhere nearly well enough.

What do you guys think of the Black Dahlia Murder? I've heard they are good, but I would like your input on them.

Until The Light Takes Us in 5 seconds

So good. Best "</movie> in '5' seconds" I've seen so far.

Of course... opening for bands that are not nearly as good or as creative as they are is quite sad... I mean... opening for DragonForce?.. Really?...
And even though I really like BTBAM... I can't imagine a band like Cynic opening for them.

I have to see them live, buy Focus, kick some asses, listen to some awesome electronic voices :P Buy a great t-shirt, show some love to one of the best Prog Death bands out there :)

I really don't know... While they are kind of generic, they still manage to stand out because of the great energy in their music. It's powerful and fast. They are one of these rare bands who can really take the interresting elements of core and use them in metal. So I really can't see why someone could complain about them being a metalcore, cause even if they are somewhat core, they are as metal as core can get. They really are not amongs my favorite, but I'll never shit on them :)

I thought it was great :)

And.... ALSO
I've read through the last few pages of the Hell, didn't post a lot of stuff, but I've catched some parts of your discussions. I think it was Ponos and Animetal who were talking about a band named Isis. So I went to HMV and listenned to some of their stuff. After a few minutes of listenning, my girlfriend and I came to the conclusion that we really had to buy the two albums we found... Wavering Radiant and In The Absence Of Truth. I think the two albums are fucking great. What do you guys think?

I want to check out a few other bands, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on them before I do... gotta sleep... So I'll come back tomorrow and read your comments.

So...
Devin Townsend Project
Animals As Leaders
High On Fire

Thanks :)

I saw that movie not so long ago, and thought it was... well... kinda funny. they all had a different point of view of what was going on in these years, but still, this movie is just a bunch of interviews.

but was quite good, I think...

It's a documentary dude, of course it's gonna have interviews! The most un-biased black metal documentary so far.

I'm still waiting to see it :(

Might not be on as much in the next little bit since I may have to take my computer in to the shop because every time I turn it off I have to pull some miracle out of my ass to get it to turn on again and I'm very tired of doing so.

I really don't see what the big deal is. It's just four bands past their prime looking to make a quick buck.

Is there any Draconian fan?

Also I'm looking for Gothic/Doom or Death/Doom bands.

I've made a fucking HUGE post talking about

Cynic
Isis
Devin Townsend Project
Animal As Leaders
and High On Fire

Why the freakin fuckin hell is it that nobody ever posted any shits to answer my post. Don't you guys have opinions on these bands?

Response to Metal Hell 2010-05-21 18:46:02

Ten genres of metal in 3 minutes. This is a super cool video, I highly recommend watching. A dude plays guitar in 8 different metal styles (+ glam and metalcore), and does it well. Usually I'm skeptical about these sorts of videos, but this is well done.

Hmm, lemme check.

"HUGE freakin post"

Ah, there we go. I have a short attention span, I'm not here to read essays.

Anyway, Isis are great. I haven't heard the albums you mentioned, 'cause I just have Oceanic. Devin Townsend is good in everything he does; Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend band, and Devin Townsend Project.

High on Fire are also good and you should listen to them.

Cynic are also really good and you should listen to them.

Wow, that shit is magnificient, that guy is a genius, it was so well structured... it sounded like a whole song, my favourite parts were when he played black metal, melodeath and progressive, excelent.

Wasn't too happy with Wavering Radiant. But Panopticon and Oceanic are still good for a listen.

that's why is said I thought it was good. but some of the interviews were really different, between each other and different from what I thought would be, some times.

There is a cinema near me who will show that on june 22, but I don't think I'll be watching it.
I mean, yes, I would definitely have had been to that show if they would come to my country... but on a cinema chair? come on, you can't watch a trash metal gig on a chair ...(except venom 's gig in london in the 80's) , you have to be in the pit!

That was awesome. Also, I lol'ed when he 'metalcore' came up and he started playing a breakdown :P

Also Duff, I read your post, but couldn't really comment on it because, well, I'm not really a fan of any of them bands, but I have listened to them. So, Cynic, yeah, awesome, and Isis, well, I'm pissed they broke up because I actually turned down a chance to see them, but that was when I wasn't really into them sort of thing.
