Listen to Rainbow's Temple of the king and Catch the Rainbow. Those are the best songs that Dio ever sung on.. Holy diver is overplayed.

I won't deny the fact that Metal-Archives is really good for storing information on just about every metal band that ever existed. However, there is some inconsistency with what they allow and don't allow like having Rush, Budgie and Deep Purple on there but not Uriah Heep. That's one of the things I don't like about the site.
As for the reviewers, I've noticed some downright hating certain genres and going trigger happy on the big fat zero. I'd much rather hear from those who are actual fans of the genre and not haters. I'd have a better idea on knowing whether an album is worth getting or not. Everyone may have their own right to say what they liked and didn't like about the albums but when someone is intentionally bashing albums under a certain genre, that pretty much breaks the following rule:
"But writing a review contradictory to a previous one just out of spite, or to boost or lower the average rating, is LAME."
They sure have their double standards.

That sucks. The first chance of myself seeing him was going to be with Iron Maiden in Dublin in July. Sadly, my sister didn't have the funds to go there and we had to miss out. Now that this has happened, we did avoid a lot of disappointment.

I agree, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow is a fantastic album.
Its getting close to Download Festival 2010 (only 22 days away), and I'm going.
Theres not many Metal bands on this year but its still going to be fun.
I'm looking forward to Lamb of God and ACDC most. Should be good.
I just started listening to Draconian and Daylight Dies, and their shit is excelent, I've also downloaded a Fear Factory album, Demanufacture, but I didn't find it very special, for some reason I didn't like the voice... meeeeeeh...
Also, R.I.P. Dio...

You should tske your manliness to the next level and come to Bloodstock instead. It's both a better Metal line up and a way better festival. Download is full of cocks who rob your shit, Bloodstock is a brotherhood of aceness.
Sabaton - 40-1 (Some gay Sabaton album).

I always go to Download. It seems like tradition now. last years line up was much better then this year, I'll admit that. Whos playing Bloodstock, just out of curiosity.

Would have liked to have seen Fear Factory and Cannibal Corpse have to admit.
Ever heard of Cyclone? Just discovered them. Great old school trash metal band.

Never heard til now, but seems to be some solid trash metal. Love the high pitched vocals.

I dig it. I like thrash like this; raw and sloppy. Good find.
Just got back from seeing Boris. Fucking Amazing. They played a good mix of songs, but fuck they have no idea how exchange rates work, £20 for a CD. The opener was also very good surprisingly, a one man experimental folk act. He had about 4 different loopstations, a cello, and what I think was some sort of electric ukelele. It was different to say the least.
Just got the news about Dio. Gotta say, that sucks. Oh well, at least he made something to the metal world.
Also, does anybody know how good Rhapsody is for downloading music? I need a different way for music besides downloading off random sites, and not buying albums because that will get way too expensive.
In much brighter news:
01 9:17 Sacred Worlds
02 5:58 Tanelorn
03 6:30 Road of No Release
04 4:46 Ride into Obsession
05 5:52 Curse my Name
06 6:38 Valkyries
07 5:26 Control the Divine
08 4:55 War of the Thrones (Piano)
09 5:41 A Voice in the Dark
10 8:55 Wheel of Time
And the release date? July 30th in Europe, early September everywhere else!

The best way to "try before you buy" music is either torrents or blogspots (example).

The album cover is rubbish. Really, really rubbish. I expect better from BG.

Congratulations. Do you feel the ever tightening grip of death? Or not?

Wow been a while since I posted here, sort of took an 8 month hiatus from newgrounds for college, oh well.
Anyways I was wondering what you guys think of Tool, are they heavy enough to be considered metal? I say they are, not only are they drawing from the 2 most dedicated fan bases (prog and metal) but Maynards vocals fit the bill perfectly for a metal band at times and the drums are definitely technical enough along with the guitars, just listen to Parabola or Vicarious.

JIZZ.
I think so, listen to Ænema and Lateralus as well, sexy shit.
I love Tool so, so much, Maynard James & Danny Carey for the fucking win.
And FYI Schism is their best song, hands down.
It's also my favourite song..
Dedicated fan here :3

Just a thought.
I bet if I did argued with MA about their policies, they'd just ban my ass.

The track list looks really good, especially when it has TWO 9 minute tracks. Very unusual for a Blind Guardian album and I have high expectations for the new album.

It'll be 2nd August for the UK but hell yes! That's earlier than I expected. I'll be sure to pre-order this album ASAP but I'll also keep on a lookout for any special editions if available.

Maybe it'll look better if you saw a bigger picture of it? I think the album cover looks really cool, although I would have preferred a more traditional artwork style.

Happy 21st! :)

I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's just something about it I don't like.
Like, it looks too pristine. Everything's so goddamn shiny.
I saw Threat Signal and Dark Tranquillity yesterday. Three of my friends and I fucking destroyed the place. The guys from Threat Signal did remember us and one of my friend took me up his shoulder during the show. The vocalist laughed and punched my fist :)
Dark Tranquillity is a great fucking band. Their vocalis is awesome and delivers a great fucking performance. The guy really likes what he's doing and that's what I like the most about him.
DT is one of these bands that you just have to see, even if you don't know their songs, the ambience, the music, the feeling, melodies and heavy parts, great drums and bass and the keys are the best keys of the Gothenburg Metal scene :)

I went to that show here on sunday, so two days ago. (Mutiny Within and Acaro both also played at this show, don't know about yours)
All four bands dedicated a song to dio as he died that morning...quite sad.
Also, if the new Blind Guardian album isn't insanely amazing I will be very sad.
For those of you who like venturing out to the fringes of metal, I highly recommend Alexander Tucker, who creates very unusual folk drone. He opened for Boris last night and I must say he is the busiest performer I've ever seen on stage.

Mutiny Within was boring...
Shitty chug riffs with a lot of taping...

My thoughts exactly.
The singer was the only good member....when he wasn't screaming.

Drums were kind of good also. Clean vocals were power metal most of the time. Surprising from a core band like this one. You said screams were bad. I thought they were not that bad. But bass and guitars were fucking boring...
