well, see, we let people in based on the 10 band rule. this isn't for our sake, it's for yours. if you only listen to a handful (i counted what, three?) metal bands, you're going to get lost in our conversations as soon as you start posting regularly. that's why we have the 10 band rule, and that's also why our decision isn't final; if we reject you, we'll (hopefully) give you a list of bands to check out. if you dig them, you can come back and revise your list and we'll let you post your little heart out.

My sentiments exactly.

I find listening to Dragonforce enjoyable once in a while all the while saying in my head "God this is shit"

Dragonforce are the definition of a guilty pleasure.

I know that, but he asked for some suggestions of metalcore bands, I like them so I suggested their best songs.
Despite them being mainstream they have some excellent albums that I highly recommend.

KSE are supposedly one of the bands that kickstarted metalcore anyway.

And please, do not suggest Parkway Drive, they are angry teenagers playing melodic leads over breakdowns and chug-chug riffs.

None of the band are teenagers, and what's wrong with that? That's just how they play, say what you will about it but I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that.

Glass Casket

Just had a listen, bit boring

Through The Eyes Of The Dead

My mate lent me Malice, it's alright

Throwdown

Same mate showed me them, sounds a bit like pantera sometimes, hardcore stuff was a bit better though..

and maybe... All Shall Perish

Meh, the bands I listed are better than them by a mile, I used to like them but got bored of them pretty quick

One core band I really like is Protest The Hero, but mainly because of the vocals, they won't ever make it with metalheads.

How are they core? There's elements of core in their songs but more so progressive, Fortress is a good album

Just so you know I'm not your average metalcore fan, I don't just check out a bands best selling album and tag along, calling myself a hardcore fan, I like to collect all of their albums and understand how their sound evolved, if indeed it did.

Sorry if I sound up myself, though I've come to expect it from this club :p

I love metal like crackheads love anal. and crack.

It probably is too good to be true, considering Belladonna and Spitz left after the Among the Living "reunion."

Precisely! Chances are something will mess up with Anthrax AGAIN! Dan Nelson hardly lasted long and John Bush wasn't even determined to record the vocals on Worship Music. Let's see what happens with Joey here.

Hell yes, Budgie! I bought Never Turn Your Back on a Friend a few weeks ago and it's a really good album. Sounds like Rush mixed with Led Zeppelin but also showing the early sound of metal. The band also gets a high five from me as budgies are my favourite bird species.

I have this friend that used to listen to everything in Metal and core, his favourite band was Slipknot, he was the definition of a "maggot", and he introduced me to them, bands like BMTH, All That Remains, As I Lay Dying and Lamb of God (which are my second favourite band), and now he only listen to Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal and Power Metal, well, we can call him a good metalhead, but what annoys me about him, is that he is totally closed-minded to Death Metal, Black Metal and every other genre of Metal that use growling, he was a big fan of Amon Amarth, for example, and then he was all like they suck, in a matter of days. Now it's very hard to talk to him about metal since I prefer Death Metal, Black Metal, Melodic Metalcore and Groove Metal, the only thing we can talk about nowadays is Thrash Metal and sometimes Heavy Metal, because for some reason I don't like Power Metal.
It happens that one day, I am listening to a cool Death Metal band that I never heard before, I want to show him, but then; "Oh shit... he only likes Thrash, Heavy and Power"

I don't really see the problem here, there's thousands of people like that. They just listen to bands that are popular because they think they represent the best of their genre and don't have any further interest in music. It's just best to avoid people like that, you won't break any ground, or get them to like any new bands. It's a waste of time. There's a word for people like that: posers. And he's got it bad.

Eurgh one of my friends is a poser, he's completely closed-minded to anything heavier than All That Remains, Killswitch, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth and Disturbed, considering I got him into most of those bands it's annoying to say the least.

He went to the Trivium gig in Norwich (a big deal for us) just because he could, even though he doesn't like Trivium, he said he wanted to see Chimaira but he only likes about one song by them, and said the gig sucked...lame or what.

I don't really like Trivium either, can't stand Matts vocals in most of the albums

lol, boring riffs

It's the lyrics that matter man!

Metal Metal Metal, is falling on my steel
Icy cold and iron hot, the world before me kneel
I bring to you a metal hymn, perhaps a metal carol
A plethora of steely treats, there's metal by the barrel
There's leather in my metal on my chopper made of fire
(It's a chopper/valkrie hybrid) blasting through a metal pyre
I bare the weight of metal, as I'm loaded with the might
No-one dare to challenge me, I've already won the fight

We play for for sorcery, and magic, and wizards and pain
We play for couldrens, and demons and souls die in vain
We play for Satan, vikings, axes, fire, volcanos, muscles, death....
...but mostly metal.

My index is extended, oww and my pinky too.
Denim, spikes and patches, chains and leather through and through.
I signed my name in blood it made me feel a little woozy!
Coz when your starving for the metal then beggars can't be choosy.
We live for warlords, and victory, and tattoos and mead
We live for dragons and Odin and spreading our seed
We live for hammers, solos, boots, moustaches, armies, blood and sweat....

...but mostly metal....
...metal....
...metal.... AHHHH!!!
..METAL! GO!

I'm going mad with metal, all I see is metal skies
The water runs with metal and without it I will die
The mountain's made of metal and there's metal in the hills
I've changed my name to metal, just call me 'Metal Mills!'

I'd really love to stay and chat, about my metal story
But it's here that I must leave you on my path of metal glory
I swore my soul to metal, but it's getting hard to tell
Just really where I'm headed, to valhalla? or to hell?

We fight for honour and safety, electricity
We live for reference sections in the library
We fight for armour, captains, glass eyes, wenches, basements, Wagner, pants and gloves and buckles, glory, Castle Greyskull, welding, Giants, Egypt, oil and gnomes, and thunder, some more wenches, Krom and other things...
....but mostly metaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal.

It definitely depends on the band. If it's Slipknot or Soulfly or Limp Bizkit, then yeah, they will sound ass-retarded. This is probably because they're shit lyricists anyway, and their lyrics are all "YEAH IMMA TOUGH GUY" anyway. With bands like Municipal Waste (IS GONNA FUCK YOU UP) and Kyuss and... well, basically every other legitimate band who curses, it sounds normal. It doesn't sound forced.

When I saw Judas Priest, Whitesnake opened, and the lead singer said "fuck" a lot in between songs, and unnecessarily so. He was introducing a new song, and he said that "it's a pretty simple song, so if you don't know it now, in four minutes you fucking will." It sounded so lame and contrived, like the word was physically placed in his mouth. My friend Jack and I would start yelling "FUUUUUUCK!" every time the singer said "fuck" because it was so ridiculous to us.
