About Guns N' Roses: Chinese Democracy is a really good album. People need to get over the loss of Slash and Duff. Sure nothing "GN'R" will ever release will rival Appetite, but neither will anything Slash and Co release either. Their different bands who went their seperate ways and personally I prefer Axl's new stuff than Slash's.

Mainly cause Buckethead and Bumblefoot were involved :3.

Slash just came out with a solo album, didn't he?

I've never really understood why people suck Slash's dick so much. Sure, he's good, and probably better than I'll ever be, but he's not really all that special when you compare him to the likes of Paul Gilbert or Buckethead.

Yep. Axl is hardly special either, but Slash wrote 'Sweet Child O' Mine''s riff, so I can understand the bumming.
Still, any real fan knows that Izzy is the real dude of GN'R.

I like Guns n roses when i was 13. Now i think they suck. Axl rose has the whiniest, most annoying voice i have ever heard. Slash is not a very creative guitarist, especially post appetite for destruction.

Haha, quite awesome! I'd love to see Heaven & Hell too, but I can't, I have to work. I'm still amazed at how Dio still puts this through, after all the cancer complications....the man is indeed GOD.

Damn, it turns out we won't be able to go there at all. My sister's student loan ends in June so she won't be able to save money for it. Plus, I think she's already going on holiday to Burma to see her fiance's family but I could be wrong about that.

That's out of the ordinary for you. However, I remember you not liking power metal very much (not that I have anything against that) but a few times, you've said you wanted to give the genre a better chance and I highly respect that.
Oh, things change, you know.

Haha, they sure do. You might remember when I wasn't into any doom metal bands besides Black Sabbath. Now I have Candlemass and they've become one of my favourite bands. I'm still trying to find other doom metal bands to get into.

I like Power Metal with a thrashy edge and the less falsettos...the better :)

Now that makes sense. To be honest, I don't have that much thrashy power metal. :O

Sounds good. I wish the best of luck for this. I won't know when exactly you'll post something new up. If you were able to have RSS feeds on there, that'll be perfect for me.
I'm working on the page at this moment. Adding reviews, updating the site...I'll also work on the RSS feeds later, would be good. Thanks for stepping by :)

All sounds good then. I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.

Although I did state that Chinese Democracy is a bad album, my concerns before were more about how Axl Rose is. He's a complete douchebag in my eyes.

Sweet Child o' Mine is a great song, I always get a nice feeling when I listen to that solo, is something like when I listen to Hey Joe, I feel a strange freeze in that solo, it's so awesome!!!

But yes, he is a massive cock. Everyone knows that, I still thought CD was a good album for what it was. It's Axl's solo album with GN'R name on it. Anyone who wants another Appetite is just being ridiculous Axl's vision was always going away from that ever since that album.

As for Doom (you mentioned in another post), listen to Warning man :P. It's depressing as hell, but they're so quinessentially Doom.

Guns performed live here a few weeks ago. You couldn't go with a Slash t-shirt.

Anyone sawthose videos where he stops the show because someone threw something and him? the he calls the translator and starts talking like "you kids don'tdo this again or im gunna leave!!".

He does have every right to be uspet, but I don't think it's fair for him to stop the show for everyone just because some idiot threw something at him, most people in the concert paid a lot of cash just to be there. Unless, of course, someone threw something that probably hit him hard enough to make him feel dizzy or something. But that's really unlikely.

I don't want to break the discussion or whatever. But I feel like we really are not talking a lot about the vocals in metal. I know a lot of the guys in the Hell really do not care about the vocs and care more about the instrumental. But the vocals are very important for me and I was thinking about making a list of my favorite metal vocalists.

These guys are beasts. I think that when you work so hard on your vocals, they can be as good as any instruments in the world.

This is, Bjørn Holter from Illnath (illnath) doing the vocals on Zetite

During this track he does what I call the Symphonic Black Metal scream. It's a kind of high pitched vocals that you will only find in SBM. I really like it. This guy does awesome growls, awesome regular screams and awesome SBM screams. I also really like when there is spoken words in their music. All their vocals, especially on Cast Into Fields Of Evil Pleasure are great !!!

Zetite by Illnath

Response to Metal Hell 2010-04-11 20:50:07

Oh well, gotta make some precisions. The vocalist I just mentionned is not doing the growls. Growls are made by the guitarist but all other vocals are made by Bjorn.

Response to Metal Hell 2010-04-11 20:53:22

My favourite vocalists are (unsurprisingly) Patrick Walker from Warning and Dino Sommese from Dystopia. I've stopped caring about talent so much as the feeling I get listening to these two. And both have a genuine effect on how I feel, though both feelings lead me to happiness.

Pat's voice is the most depressing thing on the planet and as far as I'm concerned his voice IS Doom Metal. And his performance on Watching from a Distance is astoundingly good, and if you've ever lost someone you love then its utterly heartbreaking too.
Track to listen to: Watching from a Distance or Footprints.

And Dino's voice is the sound of anger and hatred. He sounds genuinely pissed off with the world (and by all accounts everyone in Dystopia was genuinely pissed off with things too) and it really comes through. Plus he's not singing about bullshit but about his beliefs on Humanity, Veganism, domestic abuse and such.
Track to listen to: Backstabber or Taste Your Own Medicine.

I've probably said this before but regarding stuff being thrown at the musicians on the stage, I don't blame those who get frustrated over someone throwing something at them as it can be a huge distractment. If it's something small, it may not be too bad but a bottle to the face isn't pleasant and will interrupt the show for everyone. People are there to watch the show so let them and the band enjoy themselves, even if the band utterly sucks.

I often use that term, actually.

But yes, he is a massive cock. Everyone knows that, I still thought CD was a good album for what it was. It's Axl's solo album with GN'R name on it. Anyone who wants another Appetite is just being ridiculous Axl's vision was always going away from that ever since that album.

In no way was I expecting anything like Appetite for Destruction but I at least hoped the album would be enjoyable for me. 14 years for the album to come out wasn't worth it at all and I'm so glad I wasn't a big fan of Guns N' Roses years back. Otherwise, I'd be so pissed.

I still expect Wintersun's Time to be a damn good album.

Well, I do have one of their songs in my library but the whole album I could do with listening to.

Or try Reverend Bizarre.

Now that's a band I haven't tried yet.

I was a huge GN'R fan and I like it. And a few other big GN'R fans I know liked it too. Still, its split opinions like a motherfucker. I just don't see whats wrong with the album. It's not like a St. Anger where it completely rapes music and sounds terrible. The solos are pretty shit on the album and Slash is definately missed in that department, but besides that I can't understand why people dislike it.
And I'm going to remain convinced that its just because Slash isn't there, and that people dislike Axl for destroying the band. Maybe you need to be an Axl fanboy like myself to get over that :P.

I still expect Wintersun's Time to be a damn good album.

It can't be any worse than Wintersun was XP.

Now that's a band I haven't tried yet.

I reckon they'd be more your thing than Warning. Just because Warning are really that bleak and I've had years of Radiohead training to enable me to endure such misery :P.
You should check out In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend then, its a Doom classic and it is a cracker :).

Well my friend, you will!

I just finished a long review for a good Greek demo and it seems my writer's block is finally over...the first review in AGES I really like myself.

I'd like some feedback on it please, and please don't forget that I'm not a native speaker ^^

Would be great if some of you could comment on this review and - even better - try to get the material? It's some excellent stuff, for those who enjoy Hellenic Black Metal.

I did say I enjoyed one Warning song and will most likely get the rest of the album. It's £11 on Amazon right now which to be fair is decent for a band that doesn't seem to be very popular. Also, I HAVE been listening to Radiohead since July. :)

I left a comment on there. I can't say how your review would be better as I've hardly written any music reviews myself. I've only ever made two reviews for Metal-Archives and both were for Helloween. I really want to review albums more often as there's so much I could talk about but it's just getting them together and writing it up is the real challenge. I at least want to make sure it's good enough for Metal-Archives.
