Very technical Metal, that you can't use to headbang...

Not all prog metal bands use keyboards or anything else other than the vocal/guitar/bass/percussion set. Byzantine and Mastodon are among those who don't use keyboards.

I like Mastodon, but I see them as a Sludge Metal band...

Also... Me musician!... Shitty Musician!

Yeah, it's getting pretty damn annoying. Makes it seem like they're totally losing creativity...maybe they are. I don't think they'll make better stuff than Land Of the Free or Heading for Tommorow, those two were kickass.

Ok so normally I wouldn't even bother with those youtards but this is just... you just don't say this.

He had the balls to call Death metalcore.

I just don't know what to say.

Power Plant is my favourite album of theirs, even with the Priest homages there. Land of the Free and Heading for Tomorrow are also great, especially the title track for the latter. My least favourite albums of theirs are Sigh No More and Insanity & Genius. Both are so forgettable and the only good tracks are the ones I heard in Blast from the Past.

Screencap or link?

I think he'd be doing us all a favour by not showing us where that comment was. YouTube is known for extreme stupidity so this is nothing new to me.

Maybe someone can explain something for me.

I got their album a while back, and found their music boring, lifeless, and pretty devoid of entertaining qualities.

Why are they so great again? Because they have a Californian tree frog for a vocalist?

I like the sound they have going on. It's not that kind of noisy Tech Death like Nile that pretty much lacks any musical value. Nor the wankery riff, stop, riff, sweep, stop, riff thing Necrophagist and bands of that like use. I think those types of bands are the lifeless ones. Demilich's music I can get more immersed in.

Why are they so great again? Because they have a Californian tree frog for a vocalist?

It helps.

If you don't find the bizarre nature of the music intriguing most of albums magic is already lost. It's like Nev said, their tech is to create a weird atmosphere and I think it works well. That and it's full of catchy riffs.

And while I'm here I'd like to recommend Nocturnus' The Key to everyone. Kickass oldschool death metal. With keys.

Not only that, but that album is entirely consistent of a more traditional metal style instead of power metal.

I can only fill in half of the list and I'm going to be merging some of them together. However, I'll be sure to refer back to these posts at a later point if I'm wanting to check out more of a certain genre or even subgenre.

Death Metal: Death - Symbolic
Melodic Death Metal: Carcass - Heartwork
Black Metal: Bathory - Hammerheart
Thrash Metal: Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Traditional Metal: Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Power Metal: Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1

I can vouch for The Key. Top notch album, and should be listened to by any death metal fan. Unless said death metal fan's idea of death metal is yawnworthy bands like Nile, Bloodbath (SWE), and post-AoM Morbid Angel.
