It's better than those. I mean, Soulside Journey has it's merits in terms of death metal, but in turns of black metal TH did that shit in a sweet sweet way. I like Under a Funeral Moon and Transilvanian Hunger more than those albums.
Darkthrone ends up meh after 10 or so album listens. I don't mind their new shit. There's just way better black metal out there.
TH is kvlt, I dig it.

Yes, they too have funny album covers but if there's one specific album cover I have to talk about, it's The Wretched Spawn. Sick as hell but hilarious.
I finally got Paranoid, fuck me it's even better than I knew it would be. I'm gonna try and learn as many of the songs on it as I can, when I get the time :P

Haha lol, I just took a look at it and yes, it is sick but very funny indeed. One thing I love about Cannibal Corpse.

Nile is brutal and awesome, no doubt. They are one of my favorite death metal bands right now. But there are more brutal death metal bands that I listen to, like Devourment. Both bands are great, though.
Also, does anyone know if the band Torsofuck is goregrind? Because I listened to them, and they are god awful. They certainly sound like it, but man their lyrics and album covers had me crack up.

You really think Dream Theater only makes shit nowadays? I've heard their new album was good. And Systematic Chaos, even if far from a masterpiece, really wasn't that bad.
But of course, never ever will the awesomness of Images And Words be reached.

Not really. These are fucking facts. Therefore I cannot be stupid stating facts. Shut up you cock.
Only part where I give an opinion is where I state Portnoy would never think of replacing a kid from a band like Green Day. And I'm kind of fucking convinced that I'm right. Stfu.
I think that theses guys really just do not care about the differences between nu-metal, metal and metalcore. Especially for drummers. Cause even if there is a difference in metal drumming and metalcore drumming, the differences are not as big as the differences between core guitar and metal guitar.Well, yes I agree. Of course Metallica wouldn't give a shit, they would love to suck the cock of Slipknot, just to get even more famous. Although a lot of older metal bands see metalcore as a 'progression' while failing to understand that it's 'regression' and 'faggotaidsgaylordtion'. If you listen to A7X, you will notice that they can shred like fuck. Their music and lyrics how ever are terrible. But of course, drumming you cannot pick on a lot. I don't give a shit that Portnoy did it, he probably made a lot of money off the cunts.
You really think session musicians get that much money?
And about that part with these bands seing metalcore as a progression. I was wondering if I was the only one to see it this way.
I have core fag friends who really believe their chugging thugish angry fags artists are the evolution of metal. But actual bands like Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth and Dream Theater?
I don't know if you guys heard of this, but Maiden used to tour with BFMV...

What I meant, and I know you understand it. Is that Metallica, a thrash and heavy metal band, doesn't consider Joey Jordison, who is playing Nu-Metal, to be playing a different genre of music.
Lars Ulrich was sick, but they didn't just replace him with random people. They picked Dave Lombardo (thrash metal) and Joey Jordison.
Metallica doesn't make the difference between Nu-Metal and Metal. And Mike Portnoy, maybe does make the difference, but doesn't seem to fucking care about differences between core and metal. Or, as I said, metalcore drumming is not THAT different than metal drumming. Especially when talking about A7X. You guys may not like them, but their ex-drummer was kind of good.

WDADU and Awake are better than I+W.

Depending on who they are.

That was back in 2007, right?
I remember I didn't go because I hated the opener that much.

I've listened to it once. The Count of Tuscany is the only decent song on it.

WDADU certainly isn't.
Images And Words is simply amazing. You go through tons of moods during the album. There are some very melodic and catchy songs, beautiful piano and vocals track, and probably one of the most epic progressive tracks the world as ever heard: Learning To Live.
Every instrument on this album as his moments. It's not another of these "look at me, my name is Petrucci" album.
I just don't know what more I could say. I don't even need to explain how this awesome is flawless. Just listen to it :O

I still enjoy all the Dream Theater albums except for Falling Into Infinity which I've never really liked. There are still some good songs on there but most songs on there are the weakest they've ever done.

Only once? Would have thought you'd give it a few more listens before giving the album a final verdict.

My thoughts exactly.
Nightmare To Remeber is one of the few CHUGGA-CHUGGA Dream Theater songs I enjoy.
So yeah, that and the count of tuscany.
TWO GOOD SONGS, not one.
And best of times is ok as well, I suppose.
At 2/24/10 05:25 PM, greensucksbluerules wrote: Why is Mike Portnoy playing with Avenged Sevenfold?
It's just a guess, but Mike may be A7X's temporary replacement until they find and confirm a new drummer.

Pfft. Falling Into Infinity is a perfectly fine album :P. The songs are a lot better than people give them credit for. And people moaning about how it was too commercial is bollocks now given that the last two albums are trying to be commercial without any dignity whatsoever.

I've heard most of the tracks live too a couple of times.
And in my defense, its terrible. I don't want to listen to it again :P.

I really like the intro to A Nightmare to Remember. The other great intros from their latest album are The Shattered Fortress (hey, at least it wasn't the recycled parts) and The Count of Tuscany.

The commercialising in Falling Into Infinity wasn't my issue with the album, I just didn't find the majority of the album to be particularly interesting.

Hey, I at least listened to St. Anger and Risk...Twice. :P But yeah, THAT'S enough to say that both albums sucked and weren't worth listening to ever again with the exception of Prince of Darkness. As for BC&SL, my first listen to it told me it's the weakest album since Falling Into Infinity but after a few more listens, I found it to be a very good album.
