Guys, I think we got someone here with little to no taste.

Yep. Dragonforce deserves a spot on every top ten list for many reasons.

Oh, he said Sigh? I have all their albums, but havent really gave them a listen. I think my friend showed me a Sigh song in his car one time that sounded like a carnival or something, and I really liked it... but then I could never find it in their albums.

As for Dragonforce, I think they changed the face of Power Metal, and the way the public views metal. Its a great and original album (Valley), and has some of the most original vocals I've heard in Power. Nobody comes close to ZP. They really took Power/Speed to a new level, in a way we've never seen before.

I have no idea what the first album he listed was, but the other two albums were both Sigh and you basically told him they were shit for shutting down his opinion.

As for Dragonforce, I think they changed the face of Power Metal,

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

There isn't a SINGLE power metal band out there today that is good that was influenced in any way by Dragonforce.

Bands that revolutionized power metal: Blind Guardian, Old Helloween, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Kamelot and the like.

Dragonforce have inspired two bands: Hammerforce and Powerglove, which are both good but nothing truly special.

and the way the public views metal.

Not really, when the average joe hears metal they still think of A.) Metalocre, deathcore, etc. B.) Bands like Cannibal Corpse and Cradle Of Flith, C.) Bands like Iron Maiden D.) Bands like Metallica or E.) Hair/glam bands like Poison, Whitesnake, etc.

No one thinks of Dragonforce.

Its a great and original album (Valley),

Original? Sure, there's nothing else like Dragonforce.
Great? Sure, it's melodic.

But melodic doesn't necessarily mean good.

Pop = Melodic.

Keep that in mind.

and has some of the most original vocals I've heard in Power. Nobody comes close to ZP.

Falsetto vocals = / = Original vocals in power metal.

Hundreds, if not thousands of other metal bands have been using falsetto vocals before dragonforce.

They really took Power/Speed to a new level, in a way we've never seen before.

And so did Blind Guardian, only difference is each of there albums are totally different from each other. Dragonforce sound pretty similar and haven't really changed much at all since they started.

Just sayin', Dragonforce may be successful in the mainstream market but mostly all power metal bands today hate them or don't care about their music.

Including Sonata Arctica who opened for them just because mass concerts put them on tour together to increase SA's popularity.

If you want a band that totally changed power metal go listen to stratovarius.

I'm gonna have to disagree there.

Do you remember a game called Guitar Hero III? In case you forgot about it, this game included "Through the Fire and the Flames," by DragonForce. Everyone and their dog are familiar with DragonForce because of this game. There are scores of video game nerds, casual gamers, and people who played Guitar Hero once or twice at a party who will instantly think "DragonForce!" when you bring up metal.

What?

I mean I could understand making a list for one year, but for an entire decade....that is far too long of a time period.

Well I did it, so there. It's not hard.

Could you list five albums between 80 and 89 that you think are far beyond the rest? Of course you could, but chances are everyone else here will disagree with you for the best albums.

It's an opinion, so no shit people are going to disagree. We're doing it right now.

Oh glorious father I call upon
Your blinding winds
Engulf this world with your nuclear fire
Come forth and end this charade
This travesty known as humanity shan't prevail
This empty void is what I desire

Missiles shall fly
Upon the black wings of destiny
Brought forth by artillery
Into the womb of mankind

[Chorus]
Punishing fire I greet thee
Come silence this world with your roar
Plutonium reveries - open damnation's door
Punishing fire I greet thee
Come silence this world with your roar
Plutonium Reveries - and prayers of war

Radiant demon come cleanse me with your acid rain
Pollute this earth with you poisonous breath
Come forth and end this charade
This travesty known as humanity shan't prevail
Unleash your venom and bless us with death

[Repeat Chorus]

Missiles shall fly
Upon the black wings of destiny
Brought forth by artillery
Erasing mankind

[Chorus]
Punishing fire I greet thee
Come silence this world with your roar
Plutonium reveries - open damnation's door
Devouring flames I beseech thee
Ensure life to return no more
Plutonium reveries - and prayers of war

There isn't a SINGLE power metal band out there today that is good that was influenced in any way by Dragonforce.

Being influencing to bands doesnt mean that they changed the face of power metal. They really did change the way people perceived power, as no other band has ever sounded like them or done the fast guitar work they have done before them. It opened up a whole new world for possibilities.

Bands that revolutionized power metal: Blind Guardian, Old Helloween, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Kamelot and the like.

Yes they did. And so did Dragonforce.

Dragonforce have inspired two bands: Hammerforce and Powerglove, which are both good but nothing truly special.

Like I said before, Influence isnt at issue here.

Not really,

Yes, really. Like D3 said, Guitar Hero really put them out there as a band. No Power band has EVER reached mainstream audiences like that before.

No one thinks of Dragonforce.

Keep that in mind.

Keep what in mind? Keep in mind that Melody is a two way street? Keep in mind to not have close minded arguments.

and has some of the most original vocals I've heard in Power. Nobody comes close to ZP.
Falsetto vocals = / = Original vocals in power metal.

Not his style, the way he sounds. You show me a vocalist in PM who sounds remotely close to him. The problem with originality in PM is that many vocalists sound pretty much the same.

They really took Power/Speed to a new level, in a way we've never seen before.
And so did Blind Guardian, only difference is each of there albums are totally different from each other. Dragonforce sound pretty similar and haven't really changed much at all since they started.

Well, You've just got to have one of Dragonforce's offerings here. Ultra Beatdown or Inhuman Rampage, since they have enabled this band to really step up to the plate as a great power metal act.

Descriptions like "Bon Jovi on Speed" and / or "Journey meets Slayer" really hit the point home. Despite my hatred of Slayer, I do love a bit of Journey, so I can tolerate such comparisons.

A shame that the latest offerings from Metallica and Iron Maiden haven't been up to their usual standards, but I'll still vote Iron Maiden's "Dance of Death" as one of the best for the decade.

Despite the fact that AC/DC don't really consider themselves metal, I'm clutching at straws a little, so my top 5 is as follows:

1) Dance of Death (Iron Maiden)
2) Inhuman Rampage (Dragonforce)
3) Songs for the Deaf (Queens of the Stone Age)
4) Octavarium (Dream Theater)
5) Black Ice (AC/DC)

Also... all the bashing on DragonForce needs to stop.
They are talented musicians and I understand why Dr says ZP is an original vocalist. He may be singing a type of vocals that is already really popular, but he brings it to another level and since he has to follow very fast paced music with his vocals, he does bring something original to the power metal scene. I don't think their was a band that played this fast on the power metal scene before them. So... like them or not, they are quite original...
They have changed something on the Power Metal scene. They have very quick transitions, fast paced music, nice melodies and Valley Of The Damned was very innovative on the power metal scene.
The problem with DF is that they are not bringing anything new from album to album. They stay pretty much exactly the same, and I think their music is going down a level with each release. Valley Of The Damned being their best album.

But I would never say that DF deserves a place in any top 10 albums of the decade.

I stick to my own list :P
