I'll agree with that. I'll also add,

Me three

Opeth - Ghost Reveries

I haven't really listened to much Opeth and the songs I've heard (The Grand Conjuration and Windowpane) have not really piqued my interest.

The Sword - Age of Winters

Their only good album. It's catchy but nothing extraordinary.

Strapping Young Lad - The New Black

I love SYL but I think this is their second weakest (next to Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing), I think Alien tops it by far.

Skeletonwitch - Beyond the Permafrost

Have not listened to Skeletonwitch.

Obituary - Xecutioner's Return

New Obituary is a shell of its former self. Terrible comeback album.

Necrophagist - Epitaph

Jizz in my pants.

Municipal Waste - The Art of Partying

I've heard good things about Municipal Waste, I just haven't listened to any of their stuff yet.

High on Fire - Death Is This Communion

Oh my god yes.

Death - The Sound of Perseverance

Didn't this come out in '98 or something? Otherwise all of Death's albums are fantastic.

Behemoth - Demigod

I like Slaves Shall Serve but I haven't listened to much Behemoth.

My list of the best albums of the 00s

High on Fire - Surrounded by Thieves

My favorite HOF album. When I saw them live in Rocktober with Mastodon, they played Hung, Drawn, and Quartered and Speedwolf. My two favorite cuts from the album, filled with raw Motorhead-like intensity, death metal aggression, and doomy sensibilities.

Mastodon - Crack the Skye
When I first heard of Mastodon back in 2004, I hated them. But one day I bought Leviathan by chance and I can now safely call Mastodon one of the most influential and innovative bands to spawn in the 21st century. Considering how long they've been around (give or take ten years), and how mainstream they've become, yet at the same time stay true to their progressive roots is amazing and commendable to me. Crack the Skye is their magnum opus in my humble opinion and presents Mastodon as a modern day Rush.

Devin Townsend - Terria/Addicted
It's a toss up with him really. I adore both albums and his musical talent. I don't have much to say other than listen to the albums.

Jesu - Silver EP
I didn't think Justin Broadrick could get any more ethereal or dreamy (albeit abrasive and intense) than Godflesh, but I was wrong. Jesu's four song EP is an excellent collection of shoegaze influenced metal that is trance-inducing, much like LSD but much less illegal. The distorted drop-A guitars should sound crushing and heavy, but they don't because Broadrick always pairs them up with lush and weightless sounding keyboard pads that hover intensely overhead. The combination of harsh feedback sounding guitars and sheer, unadulterated, pop melodies makes this an album of artistic contrast.

More to come.

Here I am, bored with everything.

No problem. I originally listened to them because their band name is my first name, but I'm gonna look for another album soon.

You guys are SERIOUSLY doing lists of top albums of an entire decade?

That's pretty pathetic.

Also, Idio listen to something good by Opeth. Grand Conjuration and WIndowpane are some of the weakest songs Opeth have made.

I'll make a top five:

1. Warning - Watching from a Distance
Cause its the perfect Doom album.

2. Gojira - From Mars to Sirius
3. Týr - Ragnarok
These were both two of my favourite albums for a very long time. And made even better by the fact that the other stuff they've done in kind of poor. Ragnarok is getting a nostalgia vote here. From Mars to the Sirius however is up there with Watching from a Distance for me.

4. Electric Wizard - Dopethrone
Cause its Dopethrone!

5. Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors
It got me into Avant-Garde music.

Things like Octavarium and Still Life can get honourable mentions.

Well I mean, making a list of five, ten, twenty or even 50 albums is purely subjective.

Even if it is "Your personal list" it's like....why?

I mean I could understand making a list for one year, but for an entire decade....that is far too long of a time period.

Could you list five albums between 80 and 89 that you think are far beyond the rest? Of course you could, but chances are everyone else here will disagree with you for the best albums.

Also, I love you.

Recommend me songs.

"Demon Of The Fall" for something more evil, "Burden" for something that's more easy on the ears and "The Lotus Eater" for something more average great Opeth.

At 12/30/09 04:22 PM, D3NTATUS wrote: You're seriously making a list of all the concerts you're going to in the near future? That's pretty pathetic.

Objective = Fact

It's a fact that i'm going to all those concerts, or at least going to try to anyway.

Subjective = Opinion.

It's an opinion to list your top albums of the decade.

Nice try though. :D

Also, I won't make a list but I can pretty much guarantee if I did all five albums would be from 2002.

"A Night At The Opera" would be my number one album ever.
