Hey, haven't posted in a while, but in my search for NWOBHM bands, I have discovered these gems of albums:
Band (Album)
Angel Witch (Angel Witch): These guys could have been fantastic, but internal strife made them implode. Just stick with their original album, it's fucking fantastic, full of great riffs and vocals. They almost sound thrash metal, except for the vocals.
Raven (Rock Until You Drop, Wiped Out): Standard hard rock/heavy metal sound, except these guys do it right. They have some great drumming and all their songs are pretty energetic.
Tygers of Pan Tang (Spellbound, Wild Cat, The Cage): Almost like Iron Maiden, but a little faster and more mainstream sound. I recommend the songs Making Tracks and pretty much everything off of Spellbound.
Those are the big 3 I discovered, but there are a few more.
Proud Demon residing in the METAL HELL!
Lay down your soul for the god's rock n' roll!
<----- Will be seeing Opeth in April
My sister told me about Opeth in London on 5th April and we found out we're both good with going there, despite the Easter holiday. Can't wait until April comes. Blackwater Park in its entirely! :D

And I know liking Dragonforce is an unpopular opinion, but I think they do what they do well...
I actually love you <3
This man speaks words of truth.
If it's metal, I like it, end of.
also I got my guitar today, I'm a beginner but I intend on practicing as much as I can, and trying to learn a variety of songs :3

So you're totally unable to discern quality?

I probably won't be going. But there is also the slight possibility that I might as a few of my Bloodstock chums are. I'll decide nearer the time and see if I can pinch a sly ticket on ebay or something ;).
Then I getta stalk ya XD.
But don't worry, I doubt I'll bother going :P.
Speaking of gigs however, Sunn and Om are playing in Brum next week and I must, must, must get tickets for that. I can't pass an opportunity to miss Om.

No I meant within reason, probably should have mentioned that...
It if sounds good to me, I like it, I don't give a fuck about the bands history or personalities unless it directly affects the music.

Oh okay, I understand now. If this is the case, what is your opinion on national socialist black metal? There are guys like me and Sense-Offender who avoid it entirely, but there are other guys who listen to it even if they don't agree with the message -sort of like how people listen to satanic music even though they're not satanists.

I love how if you were to say that to anybody else that isn't from England or anything like that, they wouldn't have a clue if you were referring to either of these two:
Brum is metal \m/

The car is indeed.
The city is not :P. But Manchester's Sunn show doesn't have Om as support.
I just now realized I should have made my new name Dr. Stein. Fuck.
Just gave Nile's Annihilation of the Wicked my first listen. I liked it, but it wasn't as amazing as my friends described it to be. I probably need to get my Sony mdr V6's before I give it another go.

I think that album is easily Nile's greatest album. It's got all those awesome songs like Sacrifice Unto Sebek, Cast Down the Heretic, an other songs that god knows how long it would take me to pronounce. Nonetheless, that album is fucking amazing.

The debut rules pretty hard. Those outfits are hilarious though. I think they do cocaine.

Meh. NWOBHM doesn't suit me all the time. I stopped listening to Maiden when I was like 13. I still know all their songs.
Maiden. Simple, repetitive, and Bruce likes to dress up.

Took me a long time to check them out too. I only have Focus. Which is fucking amazing.
I hear the follow up fails pretty hard.

My incredibly extreme jealousy cannot be explained in words.
I just bought Katatonia's new record. I've been through the first few tracks a couple times and I think it sounds interresting. I've also read reviews of the album. Some are good and some other are not.
I would be interrested in getting more of their stuff. I've read that Brave Murder Day, was the best one to get. But I'd like to get opinions from the guys in the hell to help me make my choice.

I can honestly say I wasn't aware such a genre existed, but if it's not an incoherent mess like some Black Metal I've heard then I'll probably like it.
I got into Black Metal a few months ago btw with bands like Windir & Mork Gryning, but still listen to more melodic stuff.

Which albums do you have bubba? I gawt Twilight Of The Thunder God, With Oden On Our Side and Versus The World, all quite the tits.
I prefer the cleaner sound of the first two though, but Death In Fire is an amazing song, such a catchy riff.
yes Nev death in custard, death in custard indeed

I honestly never understood what everybody sees in Opeth. Maybe I'm just one of those guys that only likes angry stuff, or just don't like progressive metal. I dunno man, I've tried them over and over again and I can't like them. Whatever.

I love AA, and they made me love the Vikings. I think they call it Viking metal, not sure, but the Vikings were way more brutal than those sissy Spartans. They would kill people just to kill people, intead of just when they needed to. Intense.

Maybe you just like bad music?

Ohhhhh snap!
I got Skeletonwitch's new album "Breathing The Fire" ... No matter how short these songs are, they are freaking good. I still need their previous album though. I can't find it in stores yet, but I am betting I'll get it for Christmas. :)
My parents love Metal too! So they'll find it!

Eh. I like their album Beyond the Permafrost, but overall they are kind of boring to me. Nothing really stands out.

Yeah... I understand where you are coming from. All of their songs have classic Thrash riffs which I enjoy very much. And yes, that's also the album I am planning on getting. I think what stands out to me only and it may not be suitable for the other users is that I like it because of the "anger" it expresses.
I also enjoy Black Metal vocals more too.

I wouldn't call Skeletonwitch an "angry" band at all. They are actually pretty quiet compared to a lot of other bands. I like their shredding on Permafrost, but its nothing I would go crazy over. They put on an okay show when I saw them on tour with Children of Bodom recently, but even when Soul Thrashing Black Sorcery came on, I just wasn't feeling it.
Also, my friend's band Vektor just got signed to Heavy Artillery. It's a pretty big deal for them. They've deserved this for a while, check em out and let me know what you think:

Spartans are a worthy match for the vikings. spartans had armor vikings diden't. I think you really need to look at there fighting styles before you judge.
