I just can't seem to find what's so interresting about this band. Maybe I should give em another try.

I enjoyed a few of their songs when I gave them a try 2 years ago. Like you, I could do with giving them another try and possibly getting some of their albums.

Harsh vocals are alright for a while but get old.
Just my opinion.

I like a bit of both but of course, I prefer clean. If anyone prefers harsh vocals, no problem with that.

The best vocalists are the ones who use both, clear and rough vocals.

I think the best vocalists are either the ones who clearly mean what they sing about, or the ones who are a bit shit but you find them endearing anyway.
Patrick Walker as an example for the first one.
Dave Mustaine as an example of the second.

Dave mustaine is actually my favorite vocalist. I don't care if he has no technical singing ability, but he still has an awesome voice.

Hmm. Megadeth wouldn't be the same if they had hired a different singer (and then a different singer for every other album in all probability).

While I dislike Mustaine, I have to agree with this.

I think people with denim vests that have messy patches sewn on them doing the devil horns look like retards.

There are people who pull it off well - the denim patched jackets, that is. Pulling devil horns is generally a retarded thing to do, but in big crowds and stuff its also a lot of fun. It's bloody stupid but I'd never have away with it. It's part of our sub-culture.

The horns are fucking everywhere too. I was watching a live video of The Cure and there was horns in the crowd.

And I don't know about anyone else but its sort of built into muscle memory now. When I open the fridge or a door or something I'll open it with my middle and ring fingers and my index and pinky will automatically go into horn mode.

Back to the jackets point though. On some people it looks good, like the ginger bloke in the middle of Ani's pic. I think it suits him. The guy/girl on second from the left however looks a bit nerdy wearing one.

I'd kinda like to make a longsleeve one. I can't see myself ever wearing it apart from a fests but it'd be nice to whore out how good my taste in Metal is.
And there's also the greatest patch ever!

But in truth I said I would seriously start one on the condition that I can find a Dystopia patch.

I got an Ensiferum back patch from my friend my sophomore year, but I was a n00b and put it on a sweatshirt hahahaha. The only reason I'd make a patch vest is to be a Thorrior.

as for the horns, i only do it at concerts, and if the opportunity were to occur, in a picture with a band.

Horns are only lame 99% of the time because they're used by fags who think that they need to wave the symbol around every ten seconds and scream their favorite band at the top of their lungs. The jackets are kind of cool, but it has a metal elitest kind of thing to it.

I have a Taake back patch, a couple of Temnozor patches and a Black Funeral back patch. I'm going to start putting a vest together soon.

Response to Metal Hell 2009-10-02 22:17:43

This vest stuff sounds kind of cool, maybe I should make my own. I'd feel like too much of a douchebag wearing it and I would probably never don it outside of my house though, unless I went to a metal show.. what's more metal than hand sowing pins to jean jackets? NOTHING.

Response to Metal Hell 2009-10-03 01:41:49

Gorgoroth were never a joke. Their first three albums are pretty much the greatest black metal records ever. But their new album.... It's really good. Gorgoroth's return to form is so god damn epic the word epic fails to describe it.

It would be the best vest ever, as I love Taake and Temnozor whereas other people wouldn't know who the fuck they are and ask you why you don't have an Iron Maiden patch.

Also, Bliss of Flesh is demonic as fuck. The French black metal scene is so fucking evil. It keeps getting better and better.

Yes. People get caught up in the whole LLN thing they look past the fact that the French have possibly the most awesome scene right now.

Hmmmm. I don't have any LLN anymore. Recs?
