Listen to the albums you have already. That's what I do to pass the time for new albums to come out.

The moment I saw the term gay dropped in this review, I knew it was going to suck right away and right I am.

I never truly got into Rammstein. I bought Reise, Reise ages ago but thought it was mediocre. Since then, I haven't motivated myself to get another album of theirs. Supposedly, Mutter is a hell lot better.

One million times yes. If you haven't got their Malevolent Grain EP I suggest you do, because A Looming Resonance is by far my favourite song by them, WitTR are one of the few bands I can just sit and listen to, and not need to do something else.
So the singer/guitarist of Mantic Ritual left the band to pursue his life long dream of photography...
IT'S ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE.

Never was big into Mantic Ritual. I saw them in January open for Rotting Christ here in NYC and they seemed pretty generic to me. The vocalist was okay, but it's not like I can do any better. My voice is way, way too monotone for thrash metal or hell, any kind of music, period.

They are, but in thrash metal that is what makes a band awesome.
There voKillist is ok live, but on their album he had a pretty unique voice for thrash metal.
Thanks for all the suggestions, dewdz.
I checked out Dew Scented and Portal.
Portal are great, but I'm not sure about Dew Scented.
They're a little core-ish.

Wolves in the Throne Room
Would you suggest Wolves in the Throne Room for someone who doesn't like black metal?
And did you get your name from Brave New World?

Seriously, i've always found that band incredibly boring and overrated.

I just bought The Machinations Of Dementia on eBay :)
and also Bergtatt's poster
I'm really happy :)

Blotted Science FTW - Has anyone seen them live? I've heard they play at music festivals all the time, what do they do? Just wank off with their instruments for a half hour?
So I re-listened to My Arms, Your Hearse today...a LOT better than I remember it being - April Ethereal, When and Karma all kick shitloads of ass! (The rest of the album is mih, but not bad)
"I'm better than Alexi [Laiho, of Children of Bodom]? Of course not. If I am, that would mean that I'm the best guitarist in the world! That guy can play fast solos while he's drunk!" - John Petrucci
John Petrucci says that A). Alexi Laiho is better than him and B). the best guitarist in the world.
Discuss.

He's obviously drunk himself when he said that.

John Petrucci's words are never to be confused with the reality.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

It stands that way to me. Either that or he was drunk. Speaking of which; massive amounts of beer + rope tied to a tree + giant fucking cliff + shallow river = not fun. Unstable canoe + surprisingly deep river in parts where it was decided to put logs that flip canoes + watching your cell phones float away = really not fun. Especially with my friend and I being 6'7", 230 lbs. and 6', 240 respectively and too drunk to not slump over the side of the canoe... regretfully on the same side.

What kind of moral stand point is that? What's up with you man.
At 9/20/09 11:16 PM, D3NTATUS wrote: Discuss.
Well, I can shred better than anyone in my school, but if someone asked me I wouldn't say it. So I guess Petrucci is just admiring Alexi's ability to play drunk. Some people suck drunk.
And lol @ Bruce.
Is that fucking Rollins in your sig? I don't know why I think it is but I just do.

Unfortunately, not everything goes that way. There will be those who will mix the two together.

John Petrucci is modest as hell then, despite claiming to be the second best guitarist. So yeah, let's hope that was said when he was drunk.
New Funeral Mist - Maranatha, i'm yet to listen to all of it, but i'm liking it so far.

No. It's just the usage of gay in that review was very different to what you'd normally expect (and far more smug). It wasn't the usual 'omg gay lol' affair.
And Petrucci (and the rest of Dream Theater really) is just too nice to diss other people. He was probably asked 'What do you think of Alexi Laiho?' and just couldn't bring himself to say 'He's shit. I tried to play one of his songs once and my fretboard wilted with the boredom.'

I watched a live video of Kreator on Youtube and the vocals were different than from the album version of what was being sung. They were high pitched instead of the usual aggressive vocals and it didn't sound as good. Was the vocalist doing just high pitched clean vocals at the show you saw?

Not that I was asked but he wasn't when I saw them.

WitTR are definitely one of the more accessible Black Metal bands, probably because they're not pure Black Metal. You might like them, you might not, but don't disregard them because they're labeled as black metal, because they're a lot more than that. Like I said, my favourite song by them is A Looming Resonance, which is one of their less BM influenced songs, and they used a female vocalist to compliment the song, so it ends up sounding amazing. If you want an album to start off with though, I'd recommend Two Hunters. Oh yeah, you'd better be all right with long ass songs,
because they only have 2 songs under 10 minutes.
My name came from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. The main guy's called Soma, and SomeGuy was taken when I signed up, so I just made it SomaGuye.
Evile's new album came in the mail today, and after listening to it, I must say it's disappointing. The instrumentation isn't as good as the first album, and a lot of the songs are pretty slow for Thrash. Overall I'd give it a 7/10, and hopefully they pull out of the second album slump for their next album.

No, he did all sort's of vocals.
All his vocals from the 80's and 90's... They were all either much higher pitched or one step short of death metal vocals - He couldn't pin the tail on the Donkey when it came to the album versions.
But he sung Hordes and Enemy Of God songs pretty well.
