So I went to see Queensryche last night in Boston for 20 bucks....cause I can.

Doors opened @ 6:00
Intro band played from 7:00 - 7:45.
Queensryche played from 8:15 - 11:15....that's right, they played for three fucking hours(About a two minute encore disappearence thingie which I don't know what it's called. lol)

Queensryche were really good, not great but good. You could tell that every member of the band was pouring there heart and soul into the music and trying there best to play awesome and that made the show really enjoyable due to all there effort and care.

Then at the end of the show they threw a fuckload of stuff into the crowd...20 Queensryche t-shirts, 6 drum sticks signed by the drummer and about a million guitar picks.

I walked out with two shirts, a drum stick and four picks and I was great satisfied.

And the crowd was great too, all really cool people I enjoyed hanging with and bonding to the metal.

And I have NO idea who the intro band was but they were amazing and non one there knew who they were.

I added someone I met there on facebook and he put up a bunch of pics from the show, all of which of people at the show or of queensryche except for one picture of the intro band he took because apparently he thought Vital Remains = All That Remains(Lol) and apparently he also thought that if they ever become famous it'd be funny to spread around there guitarist was influenced by metalcore.

So yeah guys, Vital Remains = All That remains. :P

Anyone have ANY idea what band this guy is from? :O

Queensryche - Anybody Listening?

There's another article if you can find it, that was an interview with the Anthrax guitarist denying anything like that was said :/ when i'm back on the computer I'll find it and post it.

What do you guys think the best year for metal as a whole was and why?

It has to be between '80 and '08.

I'm going to have '88 due to the fact that's the year power metal rose. I mean Helloween is the obvious one that became uber famous this year(And in '87) but Blind Guardian are also now a stable band that are actually recording + touring(Not famous yet though), but then look at Stratovarius, hammerfall, Iced Earth and Manowar. They are all becoming famous.

Then some power metal bands are beginning to form this year such as Gamma Ray, Edguy and Kamelot.

Definitely '88 is the best year for power metal, '87, '99 and some of the 2000 years were also good. (Power metal is my favorite genre so I know the most about that)

Another reason why '88 was great for metal as a whole: The thrash metal scene was alive and thriving at it's peak, death metal, black metal and grindcore were all beginning to form, hair metal bands and glam bands were losing steam and the grunge scene and core scenes were yet to arive.

Plus in '88 sexism in metal was starting to end with several bands with female members.

So my verdict for the best year in metal: 1988.

What do you guys think has been the best year for metal and why?

Blind Guardian - Somewhere far beyond(Both song + CD). I don't know who the guest bassist was on this album but hes AMAZING! :O

You know, I've been debating this to myself for a long time now. Infact, I once thought of asking the Metal Hell the very same question. There are many great years for heavy metal such as 1980, 1985, 1986, 1988 and many others, but the one that's truly stuck out well is 1990. Not only is this the year I was born but when I think that 1990 was the year Rust in Peace and Painkiller were released, I think "FUCK YEAH!"

I feel I need to find a Black metal song that gives the atmosphere that really discribes me. Idk I feel as if I don't really know myself today. It's gloomy outside today. I feel like walking through the woods but it's fucking skeeto infested.

I also wanna form a black metal band. Can't really find people who aren't in bands already. Thos who aren't are ether not into black metal or just started playing guitars.

I want it to snow again.

Oh shit, that wasn't the last page.

Late 80's were definitely the shit for metal. Prog and old school death. And black/thrash. No core or grunge.

I hope new Megadeth album will be absolutely fucking awesome. I totally will see them this year.

I just acquired Destroyer 666's album Phoenix Rising. I must say I'm impressed, but I fail to see where the thrash influence is. I just think it's well-produced black metal that isn't kvlt like oh so many Darkthrone rip offs are.

FUCK YES.

Thrash metal is the best, followed closely by death metal. My favorite bands ever are Megadeth and Death.

While grunge as a genre is quite good, it pretty much made modern rock music suck as much as it does today.

I can imagine it only being a great experience.

Like I mentioned before, however, I fail to see any thrash in their music at all other than the basic thrash influence that most black metal bands have anyway.

Vision Of Disorder
Bane
Poison The Well
Terror
This Is Hell
The Mongoloids
The Ghost Inside
Crime In Stereo
Trapped Under Ice
War Of Ages

What do you guys think of these 8 bands? I've never even heard of any of them before.

But these ten bands are all playing here in a couple days for 10 bucks and I was wondering if it MIGHT be worth going to.

Very well, in order to join you need to list ten metal bands and wait for approval/rejection.

Also if there are any genres of metal you particularly hate then you should tell us now rather than have shit later, we get a lot of arguments in here these days.

But i have to ask, what do you guys think about Slipknot?

We hate them. I think Heavenduff likes them but not sure.

Overall we think there first album is OK but other than that they suck.
