I've actually got this really convenient thing, it's like a tiny little core sized circle surrounded by an apple sized circle, with blades between each circle. You align the little circle with the stem and push down, and it cuts your apple for you.
Still, that requires me to get a plate out and go through the action of cutting the apple, whereas with a banana i just peel and eat.
