Megadeth has one shitty album
Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, The World Needs a Hero.

HOw the hell can you think those are shitty? Especially the first two.

Metallicas been doing them since the early 90´s.
The Black Album, Death Magnetic.

I don´t like those either..
Also Enter Sandmans riff is stolen from
this song.

I just got back last night from a killer party with hella metal/punk bands playing (it's the bay area, the two tend to bleed together, especially with lots of alcohol involved) and I would give you a blow by blow description, but I don't remember shit. Long story short I have a sore neck and a my whole body hurts from the ridiculously brutal mosh pits (still nothing compared to Dark Funeral's pits, but still). Yeah.

And about the Megadeth vs. metallica debate, Metallica made a few albums with meteoric significance (Kill Em' All, Ride the Lightening) and burned out really quickly, turning into a parody of themselves in their better days. Megadeth is the brainchild of Dave Mustaine, and the albums' sound generally revolved around the whim of Dave. So you have good albums (Rust in Peace, Peace Sells, etc...) and then you have terrible albums (The System Has Failed, United Abominations, etc...) but they're different entities. Metallica is an atavistically simple thrash/heavy metal band that uses stomping riffs and unassuming drumlines to get the point across. Megadeth is a more progressive approach with oftentimes speedier and more complex constructions. Apples and oranges, fellows. Listen to Bill, the elder. He knows what he's talking about.

I don't know if I ever got approved when I requested to join, it was so long ago...

Let me try this all again...

Currently I have been listening to metal for 15 years, I grew up on it when I was a baby, and love it now.

My top ten metal bands at the moment are:

- Cannibal Corpse
- Finntroll
- Lamb of God
- Dethklok
- Burzum
- Judas Priest
- Iron Maiden
- Black Sabbath
- Megadeth
- Testament

I grew up around metal, and am currently working on getting a metal band together, I play the drums and have been for about a year now... It is truly my biggest goal in life to become famous for it, and of course, play for a metal band.
I love discussing metal and seeing other peoples' opinions on albums, and bands in general, so I am sure I would love to be in this group after lurking around in it a lot, I am sure it is a good place for me to be.

If you need anymore information, please, send me a pm or let me know on this thread. I'll be checking it out more then once every day.

Thank you bat, it's great to actually have people on newgrounds that I can relate with to the music I love, most metal communities are just not what I am looking for, for some strange reason, but I have been at newgrounds since 2005, so I have a feeling this club will be perfect for me.

I also want to know your guys' opinions on Lamb of God's new album "Wrath". Personally I thought it was one of their better albums, I like how it starts out with a lone acoustic, and then gets more heavy throughout the album. Let me know what you guys think, I'd love to hear your opinions.

With that note I pose a question.

Do you only listen to all black, death, melodeath, technical, drone, doom, etc. stuff?

Or do you like Avant-garde, Grind, Stoner, Sludge, Technical(Not technical death or black, just technical), power, progressive, symphonic, speed, thrash, folk, viking, etc?

Either way it's great to have you in.

ive listened to them but i kinda prefer shellac from the little ive heard, seems to be a bit more energy and dynamic about it. still, i might get 'songs about fucking' just because its such a legendary album. my main reason for loving albini tho is his production, he's worked on some of my favourite albums of all time- surfer rosa by the pixies, in utero by nirvana, the jezus lizard albums, burning witch, cordelias dad etc etc. all raw, honest yet atmospheric sounds. if i ever made something fairly reputable out of my own music some day my dream producer would be albini.

Thank you. I listen to many genres beside those, aswell as non metal, like ambience and non metal drone. Not really into the ones you listed, especially not speed or thrash, some stoner is good, more melodic stuff. I listen to allot symphonic black metal. I do listen to some industrial music and I like KMFDM, : Wumpscut : although I'm starting to get a bit tired of it's similar song structure etc... I do like folk and some viking metal, although not the death viking metal. I'm into a few Pagan folk metal bands like Nebelhorn and North.

If anyone could recommend me any bands that would be good.

Thanks.

I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the drone band Black Boned Angel, if not then I recommend them as one of the best current drone bands, not to be confused with the American black metal band of the same name, both are fairly well known in their field.

Someone I know died binge drinking. I don't feel all that sorry for him, actually. Anyway, I haven't been listening to much metal lately, just Rammstein whom I recently got into, very much.

I assume they don't have to be in order? If so, then:

Mastodon
Cannibal Corpse
Pantera
Lacuna Coil
Opeth
Trivium
Iced Earth
Judas Priest
In Flames
Sepultura

Do note that I enjoy many, many more metal bands. :3

Hope I'm accepted. ^_^

Songs About Fucking is wonderful. And Albini is a godly producer, he's produced so many albums. The dude's fucking badass. Plus there's tons of hilarious quotes attributed to him.
