Does it piss anyone else off when people refer to Thrash as 'Trash Metal'? Either through a typo or ignorance?

I think trash metal is actually the correct term when it comes to modern day technical whatever thrash metal like Evile.

Although I really don't know.

It should all really be kept to the main 'real' genres, hence, keep calling it 'Thrash'.

God, why would you want to read something on Metal? I'd just get incredibly pissed off when their views start conflicting with mine.

You raise a good point!

Though to aid you're quest (possibly) I'll just mentioned what I'm reading:
Currently: The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman

Lol! No bullshit, i finished reading that set of books for like, the 4th time last month. I had them from a while ago and just decided to pick up and read it all again.

Sometimes hardcore bands are labeled as thrash, or are considered to be the bridge between punk and metal (crossover.)

Regardless, I don't see what the big deal is. Who do you think Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax are influenced by?

Response to Metal Hell 2009-02-25 17:37:34

So the epic symphonic and power metal band After Forever disbanded a week ago.

I'm really bummed.

Alright. Seriously, guys.

Ayreon is quite possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life. I've listened to some stuff from 01011001, and I'm blown away.

I'd like to get into Arjen Lucassen's opera, however I'm clueless as to where to start. Ideas?

Thanks. :P

Maiden and Sabbath most likely.

This should disappoint you Americans + Canadians.

Paganfest won't be in April + May, it'll be in September.

Double post, cause I can.

Listen to Garage Inc. and then work through all the songs they covered, and there you have it. Diamond Head, Motorhead, Merciful Fate, etc.

Response to Metal Hell 2009-02-25 20:11:51

I knew I was going to get shit for lumping Metallica in there, but it was only for the fact that Cliff really made the rest of the band listen to his punk tapes. But it is especially true for Slayer and Anthrax.

I don't mosh at all, and I especially hate it when people try to force me to mosh. Whenever that happens (and it has happened, a number of times), I respond by elbowing them hard.

A rhetorical question is not meant to be answered in such a manner my good man. I was merely stating that thrash metal owes much to punk and hardcore, though it is more obvious in Slayer and Anthrax than with Metallica.

I read it as a general question that needed an answer.

Punk, yes, it owes a bit, but hardcore? That's basically going against the grain.

Oh Gawd. That one hardcore kid's new favorites bands are DevilDriver and Lamb of God and he thinks it's real tough shit (but he admitted death metal is too heavy for him). He fucking blares it on his iPod in most classes during the school day, it's irritating. I showed him The Sword and after 20 seconds he was bored but I have to put up with stuff like Joey Jordison's lame drum solo. Fuck.

They aren't bad, but they aren't good either.

(but he admitted death metal is too heavy for him).

What a pussy, tell him a girl from Ireland called him a pussy.

He'll take that well.

FUCKING LAME

fuck

there was this girl in honor band who wore a Lamb of God shirt one day and I was like "hm maybe she likes better bands, she may be cool." The next day she wore a Norma Jean shirt, and then she fucking went and wore a Norma Jean shirt the next day. >:(

Kind of a pity, she had really nice breasts. Also, she would've been more attractive if she didn't have eyeshadow going out in a half-inch radius around her eyes.

If you want to see Corpsegrinder butcher Barnes' songs, go ahead.

I always like to see people say that Barnes era CC was better than Corpsegrinder era CC. I don't take CC seriously at all, and I especially don't listen to them for the vocals.
