Sigh were on that list too, so I hadn't checked them out at that point.
And if you remember I wasn't fussed about Sigh to begin with anyway :P.

When you guys are talking about Sigh... do you mean this band?

... cause when I saw this picture I just thought:
"What a gay poser band... Must be some kind of emo shit."

I'm not judging in any way their music, but this picture is just so... so... wannabe goth...

No.

I don't think it's emo or goth at all. It's a pretty accurate representation of their music.

I know it's not :)

don't you think that this kind of picture or concept is over-used in metal music?
Like... "I'm all soaked in blood! Look I'm evil!"

and btw Necrophagist is just uber awesome

True, though I can't think of other examples. But I don't think it relates to emo or wannabe goth :P

plus Sigh have an actual reason to do that, seeing as their music has a lot to do with insanity and stuff.

If you say so.

I don't think that's even really comparable, I mean, death metal, grindcore and goregrind rely so much on gorey and brutal imagery that it's can't really be considered an overused concept so much as a facet of the genre itself. Sigh, however, is not any of those genres.

And they're Japanese.
They look good in blood, unlike us Westerners.

It was the Grand Conjuration wasn't it?
I remember him having a little chat about how people were calling it 'emo' and how he thought it was 'still fucking evil' when I saw them in 2006. And that brought back memories of that.

Apparently a few people thought he was an arrogant twat and left straight away.
Humourless bastards.

I think my favourite moment of that entire show was 'This song is from Still Life...' 'THHE MOOOOOOR!'... 'No.'

You guys talking about Opeth?

Ha, I saw them back in '06 and a again in '07, they were great.

Played for like 3+ hours each.

Did people really walk out cause they thought the band were twats?

Wow, what dicks.

Given the name checks of Still Life, The Moor and Grand Conjuration, yes, you'd think.

Ha, I saw them back in '06 and a again in '07, they were great.

I saw them twice in '06 and three times last year.
So fuck you :P.

Did they even tour in '07? I swear I would of gone to that, unless it was like some gay Irish thing... or I'm mis-remembering when I saw them the second time. Thought it was November, could of been March though.

Played for like 3+ hours each.

You're definately lying there.

Also, shouldn't you be in bed (I can't talk... but still).

It could've been in '06 though, also.

I don't know, I think it was in early '07.

You're definately lying there.

Or it felt like 3 hours at the time at least.

Looking back it was probably between a hour and a half and two hours.

I was in bed, now I just woke up. :P

So when i finish reading the 3 novels i have lined up that i recently purchased, im gonna want something else to read. Preferably something in terms of metal.

Are there any books out there that talk about metal? Anything at all, though im not to fond on reading biographies.

Response to Metal Hell 2009-02-25 07:47:43

Is anyone else looking forward to seeing this?
Apparently they´ve already released it, i have to download it.

Not met the twats though. That will have to be remedied next time... I miss the train home each time anyway :(.

Probably.
Its not unheard of (Sleep did it) but I doubt the venues Opeth play would facilitate a three hour set + support.

God, why would you want to read something on Metal? I'd just get incredibly pissed off when their views start conflicting with mine.

Though to aid you're quest (possibly) I'll just mentioned what I'm reading:
Currently: The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman (cause pre-teen girls arouse me... same with pre-teen boys too actually...)
Next: The Brothers Karamazov - Fyodor Dostoevsky.

In other news, stupid photo with my eye and a ticket:

OR WHEN THEIR VIEWS CONFLICT WITH METAL ITSELF. Gah. SO pissed. I was looking for books online and came across an "un black" and "white" and "Christian" black metal documentary and spat my beer all over my desk ruining my writings and almost ruined $3200 worth of my photography equipment on my desk.

Also got Transcending Bizarre?'s 'The Four Scissors'.

Alright, thanks for the recommendations guys... there's a lot to go through!

I don't know if I'll be a regularly contributing member here, but here's 10 bands.

Voivod
Martyr
DBC
Obliveon
Cryptopsy
Celtic Frost
Emperor
Prong
Slayer
Metallica

Response to Metal Hell 2009-02-25 11:02:45

Er, sorry for double post but I just realized Obliveon is a pretty obscure band, even for metal. Here's a live clip with decent audio quality.

Obliveon - Nemesis and Frosted Avowals

So how can I join? I'm too lazy to read through all of the posts.

You list ten bands and we judge you scathingly.
