"Fehn describes himself as a 'big fan of the band' and says of Slipknot, 'the world needed something like this.'"

I'm sure any band or artist that had that much fame would think the same thing about themselves.

Look at Metallica.

But it doesn't change the fact they suck.

Lets compare the discovery of penicilin with the formation of Slipknot.
And the cure for small pox.
And the potential cure for cancer and AIDS.

Yeah... the world totally needed Slipknot.

Which of these bands should I go see?

Right now I'm hesitating... Cannibal Corpse... Kreator... The Haunted...
even Tarja would do...

but I'm not sure of which would be the best.

Kreator would be nice. But I already saw Stratovarius live... and Kotipelto is a freakin diva... this girl... em... this guy just loves himsef way too much. But the other musicians were just fucking awesome.

After bodysurfing I felt between the stage and barriers, Did an Uber \m/ and screamed "YEAAAAAH !!!" at him. He then looked at me and smiled. What an awesome man :)

Awesome, if i were to ever bodysurf, it'd be with empty pockets, and about 5 minutes before the show ends. I don't fancy spending money to see a band and then getting kicked out by security halfway through.

But with a different keyboarist I think.

We talked about this in Bio last year when we were learning about the definition of life and stuff. Very interesting, indeed.

We made fun of the "meteor hitting a flock of bats" theory for ages.

Not CC.

You will be ripped to shreds.

even Tarja would do...

She isn't metal you know.

Its literally opera music.

but I'm not sure of which would be the best.

If I were you i'd see kretor + exodus, Destruction, The Haunting, Stratovarius(If not for them for the other band playing with them) and Obituary.

Go to those five concerts, no lie.

Eluveitie are ghey.

Though I enjoyed them live. That was before I thought they were ghey though.

Moonsorrow on the other hand are win.

And oh those shows I'd go to:
Opeth
CC (For Neuraxis)
Stratovarious
The Bezerker
And whoever the fuck I liked because I'd go for my own taste and not because of the tastes of other people on an internet forum.

Peace out.

I'm stoaked on going to this, as long as its at the right venu. I've got rumblings about the Calgary show because I've heard it might be all ages. I don't want to go to a fucking show like that with a shitload of annoying pre-teen folk metal fucks that think they're vikings becuase the listen to Swashbuckle. That doesn't even fucking make sense yet kids think things like that and kids like that ALWAYS show up to these kinds of shows.

FYI: I've been to Cannibal corpse concerts that have been all ages with just a big recommendation sign out front warning parents before dropping their kids off.

I was probably the youngest person there.

1.) Swashbuckle isn't that famous, at all.
2.) Wah.
3.) Any teenager who listens to bands like Moonsorrow and Primordial instead of Slipknot, ICP and Bullet For My Valentine is cool and not a 'problem' to have at the concert.

FUCKING GOOD. But the fucking kids that go to this show will jump on their balls and suck the life out of any reputation of the band and it's fans and future music.
The same fucking thing happened when Inquisition and Averse Sefira came to Calgary. As soon as they played all these clean cut preppy cunts started praising them and talking about them like they knew EVERYTHING about them and acting like they followed the bands religiously.

2.) Wah.

Fuck off. At least I fucking care about preserving the culture of the music.

99% of the kids that will show up DON'T LISTEN TO THE BANDS. They just go becuase they hear people that actually do listen to them talking about it and go to try to seem cool. I don't give a shit if they actually listen to the music. What I hate is that almost none of them fucking do here. Metal is not a fucking fashion statement that you use to get attention from kids at school or to seem cool. Poseur cunts can fuck off and die.

I highly doubt Folk Metal will go into 'style' outside of Europe.

Yes, because people will spend 30+ bucks to see bands they have no idea about.

Totally.

Your giving people to much credit.

Hell most people at my school ride Linkin Park and MCR's dicks, I doubt they'd drive 40 minutes to see either of these bands that they love. Let alone bands they no nothing about.

If you see anybody between the ages of 12 and 17 their they are most likely social rejects and thus have insight into the underworld of metal and know what they are doing their,

If you see anybody 11 and younger their than that kid will grow up to be in a epic band, you can tell.

Poseur cunts can fuck off and die.

Amen.

That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what's the point of success when all of the people that made you famous don't even give a shit about your music.

I highly doubt Folk Metal will go into 'style' outside of Europe.

Come to western Canada. Seriously.

Your giving people to much credit.

Actually I am. The majority of the kids that show up don't even hear it from people that listen to the music. The thought processes of these people is unimaginable. It's like they sit in their pontiac sunfires with lights that they taped on to the bottom of the car staring at each other going, "Holy shit there's a concert tonight." "Really?" "Yeah, bra!." "Sweet who's playing?" "FUCK IF I KNOW LETS CRASH THE FUCKING PARTY!".
That's how bad the scene here is most of the time. These kids are leeches. They give fans of the genre and anyone that's actually trying to get into metal a bad fucking name. It's the same thing as these die-hard thrash metal fans circa yesterday when they heard Death Magnetic. These people are bastardizing the music and I can't fucking stand it. And shit, it's not like I'm even fucking mad at you for feeling the way you do. The scene where you are must obviously be a lot different than here.

Poseur cunts can fuck off and die.

Response to Metal Hell 2009-02-17 21:43:14

to support bruce; we have a similar problem here, but with like, every band that shows up here, ever.

I remember in 8th grade, Flogging Molly came here, and suddenly everyone liked them. But it's not as bad as you described, and there's still a good music scene. After all, I'm in a college town in California, so there's tons of legit people. Our college radio has a metal program called "Slaytanic Carnage." That was sort of superfluous info but i don't give a FUCK

Wow, sucks for you guys over in ol' North America.

Everybody at my school kicks ass.

Seriously, you stay in the main entrance during the ten minutes in between when the buses let the kids off and when homeroom starts(And if your not there = Your late to school = Demerits = Detentions + Call home) you will see people with all these shirts at least once:

CC, COF, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, Moonsorrow, Primordial, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Helloween, gamma Ray, Axxis, Symphony X, Rotting Christ, Death, Opeth, High On FIre, NachtMystium, Iced Earth, Forgotten Tales, Therion, Yngwie Malmstream, Manowar, Hammerfall, Into Eternity, Kreator, Megadeth, Exodus, Luna Mortis, Arch Enemy.

Those are all the bands that are guaranteed to have at least one person wearing each day, and most other metal bands of ALL sub genres of metal can be expected to have a shirt.

And no one here is a poser, their are roughly 300 or 400 kids in our Highschool and everyone here is smart, independent, has taste in music and no one here is a poser.

Once we had a transfer student here his first day he picked up on the fact every one had a shirt of some metal band on. So what did he do? The next day he came in with a Slipknot shirt on because he thought they were both cool and metal and he wanted to be popular.

By the end of his second day he was jumped by like 20 people.

That's how kickass my school, no one here is a poser, no one here is an idiot and everyone here LOVES metal.

List of bands

Cool to know your school has taste, everyone is always wearing a band t-shirt? Awesome, it looks like Ireland has donated a lot of money to the metal industry then.

Luna Mortis,

Lol wut?

Seriously, what?

I thought I was the only nger who knew who they were.

That's either really good or bad.

It was an interesting story.

People were getting restless at school because we hadn't had any days off or any events or anything at all in the school for a month, just days where nothing interesting or exciting happened.

And since the school had a bit of money and since everyone at school(Both students and teachers, very few people in our building don't like something metal) the school paid for everyone at our school to go on a field trip to Dublin to see Arch Enemy and Into Eternity with Axxis and Luna Mortis as the two opening bands no one has heard of.

After that concert everyone at our school has been in love with these bands.

This was last year I think.
