band - song title

I've always done it that way.

What are the best metal covers?

Death - Painkiller wins this by a landslide.
Graveworm - Losing My Religion gets silver.
Opeth - Circle of the Tyrant gets bronze (because I don't have any others that come to mind).

Angra did a cover of Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush and it sucks balls.
Just thought I'd add that as I really don't like it :).

Fuckin' agreed.

My favorite cover by a metal band is Blind Guardian's cover of Barbara Ann. It's not metal, but it was hilarious when it came on after my first listen of Follow the Blind.

Also to answer Sensey's post about song/artist order, I do it "song - artist" because I say it in my head as "<song>, by <a rtist>." Every once in a while I break my own rule and do it the opposite way.

Bring Da Ruckus - Wu-Tang Clan

Its a shame too, great song, great band and the singer does (or did, I heard they got a new fellow) sound a bit like Kate Bush, you'd think it'd work.
But it just sounds as though they thought 'lets just use those lyrics to a Power Metal song' as opposed to making a respectable cover of it. And it just don't fly with a song as arty as Wuthering Heights.

Same, I love it, it's just so nice. Except it never snows where we are, and since I don't drive I don't have to deal with that shit yet.

To be honest, I prefer Edu Falaschi (the new singer) to Andre Matos (old singer). Edu's voice is a bit more expressive and powerful, and plus, his last name sounds like "fallatio."

I haven't heard any of Edu's stuff but I can't imagine liking his voice more than Andre's. Andre has a kind of Kiske-esque quirkiness to his voice.

And I too like winter. Mainly because I hate the sun... us vampires are like that.

Ahh, is Edu on that? He's who I meant then. My mistake. Suppose it makes sense, that Kiske thing I was on about was only really on the songs I've heard from ToS.

I don't have any albums - just a few songs from different album.

Though seeing as my two favourite songs are Morning Star and Nova Era I can't diss Andre :).

greetings one and all, i hope we are all well, i myself am a little bit pissed off to say the least, for i rather stupidly bought an ipod yesterday (delivered today) and i have just finished printing off the labels to return it a second ago.

i purchased the the 120gb ipod classic as an upgrade to my 60gb zen vision m, to give apple a chance and primarily because there is currently nothing on the uk market at that capacity, so i thought at the same time i would give itunes another chance, so i install itunes and load my library which stands at around 8400ish tracks only to find that it loaded 3100ish into itunes, how wierd i thought, oh well i will use foobar to load the tracks onto the ipod, this worked, or so i thought.

i discovered that the 3100ish tracks play perfectly on the ipod, the rest do not and will skip through until a playable track is found, i will never buy apple ever again.

in other less angry news i finally got hold of warning as mentioned by nev many moons ago, and they are amazing and some nice death metal by sculptured, tis very odd and kinda cool. i also got Graveworms 2007 album which is actually pretty good, i have always felt that graveworm suffered from awesomeintroitis, a disease in which a band starts a song in a crushingly amazing way and then gently peters out over the rest of the song (see: legions unleashed) and a cover of I Need a Hero is always good fun

Neurosis - A Sun that never sets from A Sun that never sets

You had a Zen man! You should of know that iPods are shit from the start.
You betrayed the brotherhood, thats why it didn't work >:(!

But I do like iTunes, though if more than half my albums didn't load I'd be pissed off with it too. So far though only a few haven't and of those only one I actually cared about (In Rainbows) others were just albums I got of my mate for the shit of having more stuff to eventually listen to).
in other less angry news i finally got hold of warning as mentioned by nev many moons ago

But I'll forgive you :D.

and a cover of I Need a Hero is always good fun

Graveworm have perfected the art of covering pop songs. And I should of including this in my list really, but I didn't want to be too Graveworm heavy.

Whenever I get that problem I do that too. But sometimes it can be that some tracks have the "Album Artist" field filled in while others won't. It gets annoying as hell when a whole album is fucked up.

What I do is I just select the whole album and clear all the fields except for track number, artist, album, and genre.

That's what I've come down to doing too.
Though nowadays I use Foobar for almost all of my music needs, bar putting music onto my iPod.
It's tagging function is really great.

So i picked up the rest of the Ministry albums that bash on the government today, except Houses Of The Mole either fucks up in itunes, or it's how they set the cd up. It has the normal tracks, then it extends from about track 9 up to 69 where some sort of voice keeps repeating something on top of music. Just looking at the back cover now i can see the numbers 6 and 9, could be related.

Anywho, what other bands do you guys know of that pull this sort of stuff on their albums?

I read about stuff like that on MA all the time. Like, this song is a bonus track, but it's track number 666, all other tracks are blank. I read that a lot.

Also. Holy shit. This song I just recorded. Is fucking awesome. Please guys. Please listen to this.

theyre re-uniting just for these two sets at ATP, doing the whole of holy mountain then some of dopesmoker. ATP's cool like that, they ask anyone to play all based on quality and respect rather than just big name or trendy bands. they have a voting system the fans can help choose who they want to play too.

Found another two really good bands recently.

One is a really unique Doom Metal band called Void of Silence. I think they're the only Doom band that sing about war. Well World War II anyway and combine very Atmospheric/Ambient qualities into their music.
MySpace

The other is an interesting Black Metal band. Celestia, they have a somewhat Acoustic/Epic feel to their songs. Vaguely reminiscent of Swedish BM scene with a fresh twist.
MySpace

Check 'em out :)
