I was thinking more along the lines of 'extreme' (see: idiotic) innovation.

But the word innovative is thrown around a lot these days.

I'm pretty sure back in the day, crossing Speed Metal with an Orchestra was considered innovative.

Now, there's not a lot you can do other than naming your band after a Latin term and playing Progressive Death Metal.

So went for a jam with the band I joined the other day. Didn't do much jamming but had a good chat about the style and direction and stuff and it all sounds great :). The guys have good contacts for gigs and one is a huge Doom/Sludge fan. Its nice to meet someone true for once.
Hopefully it'll turn out as good as it sounds.

The Sword, EyeHateGod, Soverein, and High on Fir e all are excellent stoner bands.
