Seeing how much I love Images and Words and a Change of Seasons (the song) and the fact that I like pretty much all of their stuff (Awake, and Metropolis Part 2, especially) I consider Dream Theater a favorite.

I'm extremely picky about Darkthrone. You see, this is how I sum up the band.

While they had the potential to be a sweet fucking tech death band, that shit was old as fuck. So they joined the new fad, black metal. And they're debut was ok. But not great. Their follow up was a brutal assault of black metal melody and atmosphere, and is the second best record. Transilvanian Hunger I think is brilliant, but is behind Under A Funeral Moon because it was oversimplified, and I like the production on UAFM better. But, all of their effort came to fruition in their greatest album, Panzerfaust. Panzerfaust had a better production than Transilvanian Hunger, it had better riffs and better songs, beautiful melody like on Under A Funeral Moon, but even better than that album. Panzerfaust is a masterpiece.

I'll admit, bands like Bodom and In Flames are a tad commercial, but neither have been Melodeath in forever. Bodom are some kind of moderately thrashy mallcore shit now, and In Flames are Metalcore, although with arguably more Metal than Core.
