Speaking of Best of's, i just thought for a minute, as far as i know, Metallica hasn't released a best of album yet have they?

Wow.

They did four in the eighties. They're just doing tribute albums now.

I've been doing my bit to get into Candlemass seeing as they're the only band currently announced for Bloodstock that I like. The Bewitched video is brilliant :).

I see what you did there!

Actually Metallica did worse then releasing a whole load of best of's, they worked with rap-artists instead.

Check out The Dying Illusion. Really good song.
I'd imagine they will be pretty kickass live.

Hahaha! Its a good idea, but i just go work on site to get holes in my pants. But an angle grinder is the only way you're gonna get this sort of look:

really i just felt compelled to go angle grind something. So help me if the oxy/accetalyne set was there...burnt jeans anyone?

Nothing else, he likes no other music.

So he doesn't listen to any classic metal such as Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath or Judas Priest? If so, that's very lame. Also, I know how you feel here. Your roommate is very much like my neighbour who does nothing but listen to the same fucking shitty club music, so everyone in this house has grown to hate that sort of music because of him. However, what your roommate listens to is a hell lot better than the trash I hear from next door.

Because I like darker/heavier stuff - nothing emotive comes from power metal.

Now that's a valid reason for not being so keen on power metal.

I guess I didn't really make the generalization that all power metal was to do with fantasy stuff, I just said I didn't like most power metal, and continued on from there.

I really do not get the point of destroying your own clothes.
How is it making you look better? or more metal...

Also, any Motorhead fan in here?
Cause I'd like to know if any of their stuff is really worth it.
I'm just thinking of that scene from Smokin' Aces in which the Tremor Brothers are killing people to the sound of "The Ace Of Spades". Awesome !!!

Wanna make me ask you guys if you know any movie that has a soundtrack with metal music in it (and I'm not talking about Resident Evil with all their gay Marylin Manson songs...)

You need to list more metal bands to join.
Right now you have only two metal bands in your list
which are Metallica and Slayer.

You need ten bands to be accepted here.

I'm a big fan, it's my favourite band. Most of their stuff is worth it, I'd start with the classic trio (Overkill, Bomber and Ace of Spades), and then get Inferno, Iron Fist and Bastards. Get No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith as well, it's a really good live album.

I destroyed them because i felt like experimenting with something other then metal. You're correct, the way i did it is probably going to make me look like a homeless guy, but hey, im going to a party, its not like these jeans are gonna be worn ever again. In terms of looking metal it doesn't do much really, just the thought of wearing clothes that got destroyed by an angle grinder was to hard to resist. Angle grinding = metal work = metal.

I listened a bit to Warning. Echoes is an alright song, but I really didn't like Faces. It looks like the vocals will get on my nerves if I get one of their albums.

I hope Solefald has a new album on the way. All of their full lengths have been great aside from their first.

Listen to either Watching from A Distance or Footprints, they're both up on youtube. If it still annoys you on those I'd say you just don't like them. The vocals are a very big part of what makes them great.

The entire album is just perfect in my opinion, it probably is my favourite album ever. Patrick's voice is so depressing in the most incredible way, you really feel the emotion in his voice. And given my situation of emotional lonliness and unreciprocated love the album speaks volumes to me.
And his vocal melodies are really catchy.
"Take a hold of my life,
make it into one that I want it to be.
Make a whole of my life,
make my faces one that I want you to see."

I love that album so much :D.

Yeah it really hit home for me. The last relationship I was in actually meant something to me for once and the feeling wasn't mutual. I think that feeling of alienation or confusion or whatever you want to call it is captured really well. In any case I can at least find a few things to relate to in each one of the songs and I really like how it's written. I think he really put himself out there and it works really well.

And his vocal melodies are really catchy.

Yeah, it's what got me into it so easily. They usually just fit so well over the riffs. It's actually got me scared to check out The Strength to Dream because I hear the passion in vocals wasn't there like it was in Watching.
