Black Metal is often really good for this, if you're interested and all. But basically with any song you pick, you find different little messages/stories in them. This coming Monday i will be using lyrics from a black metal band in my english exam in relation to another text, if thats the sort of meaning/dissection you're after.

I don't know the exact IQ, but I'm pretty sure it's very low.

I assume they'll be just eBay bids. Again, me and my sister will try another time.

I thought it would be illegal, but I hear people selling tickets many times in the news yet nothing happens to them.

But yeah, those are the genres I mainly look for, not doom metal, death metal or black metal (though Cradle of Filth is pretty good).
this might be just my opinion but really if your after good lyrics in combination with music then death, doom and black would be far more suitable than thrash or metalcore, which *usually* have quite generic angsty/violent lyrics. the more extreme genres, along with progressive and avant garde, often pick on more subtle and deeper philosophical & intellectual themes.

Ahh, who'd you listen to if you don't mind me asking? If you listened to the wrong guys it's possible that you got the wrong impression.
Also I think it's important to note that it's not like us guys in here fell out of the womb enjoying the sound of death, or just extreme metal in general. It's very much an acquired taste and a couple of years ago I would have sounded exactly like you. I only liked metalcore and the most popular mainstream thrash. Now I listen to just about all of it.
But Death you say? I'll give them a "Google over" and see whats happening in their end.
Maybe I'll like them - who knows?
Thanks for the band name.
Yep, no problem. If anything I'd say check out Symbolic first as it's probably their easiest listen, or at least it's their catchiest one in my opinion.
?

I say the catchiest is The Sound of Perseverence.

I like how everyone seems to have a different favourite album. Quites unique when so many other bands generally have one album thats considered a masterpiece.
I love Death´s cover art.
Ed Repka is one of the best artists in the world.

I'm doing a song too, a rock song by Serj Tankian out of System of a down called 'feed us' in relation to Frontline.
Oh snap, you're doing the whole bullshit as well? Awesome coincidence. We got told to use Frontline as a supp. text but im like, pssht, fuck that. So instead im using Dark Funeral in relation to The Truman Show.
standard english ftw.

Death would be a good place to start because of their close relation with thrash metal and stuff. Personally, I like Human the best.
Slow desolation like a funeral procession
The lovely one screams like she's caught between stations
I eat the razor, a mouthful of God's flesh
Last night, I decided to search for several metal bands I've not checked out before such as Tankard, Bal-Sagoth and Elvenking, although the latter I've heard a song of theirs on Last.fm before. It made me feel bad for not trying this stuff out sooner and if Christmas wasn't so close, I would have dished out some money to get their albums.

Human is definitely my favourite too. Love the track Cosmic Sea.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.
I have looked for it, but I can't find a source of acid bath getting back together. If anyone knows then tell me.

That's a great instrumental. I love the KISS cover though. I always thought that Gods of Thunder was KISS's best song, and this cover proves it. It can be so menacing. Also, SUI CIDE MAAAAAAAA CHINE
Spaces necessary.

My favorite would either be Sound of Perseverence or Symbolic, because of how well they are produced, how much Chuck's songwriting, guitar playing, and lyrics have evolved and matured, and the new progessive thrash metal sound they had. Also, Chuck's voice is Godly on SoP, it's perfect, probably my favorite metal growl.
I have to admit, although I didn't dig it too much at first a couple years ago, I fucking love Darkthrone's new sound.

You could just download ObZen or Catch 33. I'm sure you'd find more songs like it there. I've never really listened to Meshuggah though.

Haha, way to kill a sort of cool song. It sounds like he's a hardcore punk singer, but like 10 times worse. It even had an awesome title. Serpents, temples, and blood rules.

He actually sort of reminds me of the guy from Iced Earth.
Only shit and off-key.
