I've never been able to take Pink Floyd as a serious band. Mostly because of their name.

But whenever a rock musician dies, God sends 10 less talented ones in their place.

Or as it would seem, looking at today's Rock scene.

And I'm fairly sure Prog Rock is effectively dead.

Well put, can't argue with Zep.

I can only think of one, Systematic Chaos.

I have a few. Most immediately From Mars to Sirius comes to mind. The new Gojira leaked and I love it, but I also loved FMTS when I got that too. It changed to just "solid" for me. Still an awesome album, but I freaked the first time I heard it. Dream Theater's later stuff is a good example, some tech death like Necrophagist too.

Blink 182 :D.

Seconded :)

Anyone heard of Cannabis Corpse? They parody Cannibal Corpses songs in a very stoned fashion. Their songs include I Cum Bud, Staring Through Eyes That Are Red, and I Will Smoke You. I think it's pretty clever, and they did a good job covering their songs.

It rules, so much.

Randy's vocals in Adoration for None/All the Tears (some confusion as to which one is the correct name) are just amazing.

Favourite song so far is The Art of Dying.

You refer to Led Zep as being metal? In terms of the music genre 'metal' or in the context of 'Oh snap that was totally metal dude'.

Picked up Death Magnetic and Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? today.

Things I will admit:
1. While I like Metallica better than Megadeth, I cannot deny that Megadeth has better musicians.
2. Metallica made 3 bad albums, two weren't good, but weren't terrible. Megadeth has made one bad album, but when it was released, it was an unholy abomination unto all of mankind and anyone who listens to any song from it should die.

Except Prince of Darkness and the Duke Nukem Theme.

3. When Metallica sold out, they did so to a large degree and did it for a while, but eventually (emphasis) returned to their roots, or at least somewhere near it. When Megadeth sold out, they didn't stray very far from Thrash, but never really switched back.

I'm pretty sure you just suggested that Load and Reload weren't terrible to which I can only say poppycock, rigmarole, and hogwash. Then you go on to presumably suggest that Risk was worse than St. Anger... That tears it you doodoo face butt head. YOUR OPINIONS ARE WRONG

Ryan, just face it, while Megadeth did put out a terrible album (that being Risk), Metallica managed to top that with three. As far as my math is concerned, that technically makes Metallica worse and the bigger sell-out.

Thus, you lose.

I still love FMTS. Ragnarok has fallen but I think that might be more to over playing it.
Can't wait to get The Way of All Flesh :D, I've been listening to that video of Vacuity quite a lot. I think I'm gonna wait to buy it though like I good boy :).

Not only that but Megadeth's finest works are better than Metallica's finest.

And I got some new albums of my friend, good ol' music swapping - I gave him lots of stuff like Solefald, Sigh and all the other Avant-Garde like :).
I stole off him:

Alestorm - Captain Morgan's Revenge
Destruction - D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N
Eluveitie - Slania
Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Kataklysm - Prevail
Nightwish - Wishmaster
Symphony X - V: The New Mythology Suite
Symphony X - Paradise Lost
and some Aphex Twin, Daft Punk, Kelly Clarkson, Les Mis, Pendulum and Tupac albums.

Okay, I'll my own math.

Megadeth:
5 great albums, 1 masterpiece, 1 bad album, 1 fucking abortion of an album, 3 'meh' albums.

Metallica:
5 great albums, 2 masterpieces, 1 'meh' album, 1 bad album, 1 fucking abortion of an album.

Scoring system works like this:
Great album-2 points
Masterpiece-5 points
Meh/Bad album-1 point
Fucking abortion-0 points

Final scores:
Megadeth:
19

Metallica:
22

Now, let's dedutct two points from Metallica for being sell-outs and having Lars Ulrich.

Final scores:
Megadeth:
19

Metallica:
20

Megadeth are better.

Megadeth win purely because Mustaine's hair is great.
And he's funny.
And his riffs are beyond incredible.
And because Megadeth had Marty Friedman.

And as far as I'm aware Risk wasn't so much a bad album, but just a bad album for Megadeth. It was just Rock stuff wasn't it? Thats what I've read I'm sure.
Also there is no way it can be comparable to St. Anger - Megadeth still get respect.

Pop-Rock to be specific.

Hard Rock in the case of Crush 'Em and the Duke Nukem Theme.

Pseudo-Metal in the case of Prince of Darkness.

Also there is no way it can be comparable to St. Anger - Megadeth still get respect.

Not in the case that the music is similar, no.

In the case that they are two atrocious albums from two normally great bands, yes, they are.
