That's why I like Megadeth better than Metallica, and I just decided that recently. Technically, everything is superb in Megadeth - the twin guitars, the bass, and the drums. Dave and Friedman have some pretty insane solos and riffs, you can actually hear the bass, and Peace Sells starts out with a slick bass line, and the drums are pretty awesome too.

Yes agreed, it's only a pointless noob rant now. Besides Megadeth already won, what facts do I base this off of you ask? None, IMO Megadeth beats the fuck out of Metallica (With an exception of Kill 'em All, which is like a hybrid of awesomeness), so get over it 'kay? Your rants and raves on other people's opinions are only making you look even more like an idiot, Ryan.

Aaaah, the old Megadeth vs. Metallica argument.

Well, here's my "math" for it, in case someone wants to know:

In order of preference - Megadeth:

Masterpieces:

Rust in Peace
So Far So Good What?
Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?

Great/Good albums:

Youthanasia
Countdown to Extinction
United Abominations
The System Has Failed
Killing Is My Business...and Business is Good

Mediocre/Bad albums:

Cryptic Writings
The World Needs a Hero
Risk

Downright horrid albums:

none

In order of preference - Metallica:

Masterpieces:

none

Great/Good albums:

...And Justice For All
Ride the Lightning

Mediocre/Bad albums:

Master of Puppets
Kill 'Em All
Death Magnetic
Black Album
Load
Reload

Downright horrid albums:

St. Anger

So there we are. Any more questions? I think that one band does slightly outdo the other...

Booo, get off the fence.

Only got it yesterday, so haven't listened yet. And when I do (can't guarantee it'll be soon as its Thrash) I won't know how it compares... only discovered them like two weeks ago :P.
Sorry Goatsey.

Sorry Goatsey.

No problem. Just tell me what it sounds like when you come to it. I've seen them live 3 years ago and they were fucking awesome. Schmier's interaction with the crowd was amazing and Sifringer sounds even better live, really a severely underrated guitarist.

I saw them live a few weeks ago, and I too thought they were great... and my friend was clearly impressed as he bothered to download the album. And I imagine the setlist had some new tracks in it. Though as they've not played in England in a while (apparently) I can't be sure.
Either way I wouldn't know really.

Ones uninspired rock that other than the cheesy christian lyrics at least isn't that annoying, the others a horribly nu metal tinged piece of shit with the most retarded play on words I think I've ever heard. Frantic tick tick tick tick tick tick tock. Great one James! At the very least Risk at least had Crush 'Em which is catchy. Just about nothing on St. Anger was worth anything.

Interesting, notice how they both dick about with the audience in the beginning.

Yeah, that is annoying.

After hearing Metallica's new album, i'm inclined to agree. Overall Megadeth is better. However, Metallica's first four albums are far, far superior to Megadeth's music, but after that Metallica just went downhill, in my opinion.

So tell me, which Metallica albums are superior to 1986 - 1994 Megadeth and why, I'd really like to know.

Does anyone else think children (more specifically babies) on album covers just look weird and wrong?
I've come across two whilst renaming/putting in itunes the albums I've got and both Slania and Wishmaster have children on.

The Youthanasia cover has babies on it - and that cover is one of my favourites.

That one I don't mind, it doesn't seem weird. I'll put that down to the title and its relavence.

I take it you don't like the cover to Nirvana's Nevermind then. :) I remember seeing that in my dad's collection when I was younger and going "what the fuck...".

Nirvana is a classic, and Butchered At Birth is pretty awesome. Everything Sucks has a crying baby on it, but I don't much care for it. Primus' Suck On This has a cute clay baby holding a bottle on it, it's so innocent and cool. Those are all the albums that I have that have babies on the front cover.

Kill 'Em All is boring, the vocals suck and it's very inconsistent.

Ride the Lightning is a very good album, especially "Fight Fire With Fire" and "Creeping Death" rule, but songs like "Leper Messiah" or the hideously shitty "For Whom the Bell Tolls" bring it down hard. If it had more songs like the first two I mentioned I would consider it a masterpiece, but due to its inconsistence, it's just a very good thrash album.

Master of Puppets sucks. The title track is overlong and has one good riff, Orion is a boring instrumental and all the whiffle thrash elements bother me. Vocals are quite good, but the lack of Mustaine riffs already shows.

So, here's your reasoning. Want more? My head is nicely OUT of my ass, it's just what I think, got that?

Response to Metal Hell 2008-09-17 09:28:37

Leper Messiah is on Master of puppets, not RTL.
And For Whom the bell tolls is Metallicas best song.

Because everyone else is doing this, I might as well take part.

Metallica:

Master of Puppets
Ride the Lightning
...And Justice for All
Kill 'em All
Death Magnetic
Black album
St. Anger

I've not listened to Load or Reload, so I cannot rank them. However, from what I've heard on those albums, I'd put them just above St. Anger.

Megadeth:

So Far, So Good...So What!
Rust in Peace
Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?
Killing is My Business...And Business is Good!
Countdown to Extinction
Youthanasia
Cryptic Writings
The System Has Failed
United Abominations
The World Needs a Hero
Risk

DragonForce:

Valley of the Damned
Sonic Firestorm -- Inhuman Rampage
Ultra Beatdown

And since people are throwing in other bands as well, I'll throw in Iron Maiden and Helloween in my post.

Helloween:

Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1
Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 2
Helloween/Walls of Jericho
Keeper of the Seven Keys Part - The Legacy
Better Than Raw
Master of the Rings
The Dark Ride
Gambling With the Devil
Rabbit Don't Come Easy
The Time of the Oath
Chameleon
Pink Bubbles Go Ape

Iron Maiden:

The Number of the Beast
Iron Maiden
Piece of Mind
Powerslave
Somewhere in Time
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Brave New World
Killers
A Matter of Life and Death
Dance of Death
The X Factor
Fear of the Dark
No Prayer for the Dying
Virtual XI

Hopefully I don't get tempted to do more of these albums rankings.
