I don't know what to call Rob Zombie, but Pantera and Damageplan ain't bad. Welcome in, tell us some more bands you like :)

Anyone heard of Darkthrone? Anybody listen to them long enough to let their music grow on you? Because I have Under a Funeral Moon by Darkthrone, and it is 100% nihilistic awesomeness. They aren't technically good, but they create such a haunting atmosphere on Funeral Moon, which they squandered a year later on Transilvanian Hunger.

I listen to them occasionally. I'm not exactly a fan, but they aren't bad. I'm not a fan of the shitty "cold" BM production. I prefer BM like Rotting Christ and Limbonic Art.

I like both. I listen to almost every form of black metal, so yeah. Darkthrone you have to let grow on you. How about this? Get BM that's cold, yet the production's alright (better than Darkthrone and Mayhem's De Mysteriis) and is also melodic. What am I talking about? Dissection's "Storm of The Light's Bane". Get it. You will regret it if you don't.

I know it and I love it. "The Somberlain" is great too :) Dissection is awesome, and they release a new album quite soon, I think. Can't wait.

Their new stuff isn't as good as their old stuff. I heard it on their site www.dissection.nu and it didn't have any reverb and the riffs were simple and the drumming wasn't as charismatic as Ole Ohman's drumming and it wasn't as sinister as SOTLB.

Want hardcore? Go to a Gorgoroth concert. They have blood, fire, sex, goats' heads, and burning bibles.

That sounds like a big turnoff to me :( I'll check it out anyway. My favourite song by them is still "Where Dead Angels Lie" :) I hope they will ever do something like this again.

I like "Unhallowed" and "Soulreaper" better. I also like "Black Horizons" off of their first album, but I like most of the songs off of SOTLB better than The Somberlain.

I find Sonata Arctica to be too poppy for me. I like the dark and sinister.

liar. Your 5th birthday probably sucked, but it was nowhere near a Gorgoroth concert. They have GALLONS of blood at their concerts. And I know you were being sarcastic.

Silence is one of the best albums going round. Sure there are some pretty average songs on there but tracks like Wolf And Raven, Black Sheep and San Sebastian are killer.

Hell, lets make it a 2 CD special for myself! If anyone's interested about getting a copy of these two, just e-mail me, though I expect about 99.99% of you could easily replicate this stuff in your own home via MP3s and your own albums. =P

Suggestions open to tracks.

i can't help but to think a lot of people are now just naming generally known metal bands like Pantera and Metallica just so they can be Metal. now, i'm not judging RandomTask63. i mean, i love all those bands he listed, but it just sort of caught my attention when i noticed the bands people were naming to get into Metal Hell. it seem as if now, the trendy kids have gotten hold of the good metal as well....

well, i don't know much about drumming or drummers or anything, but i can say that John Tempesta is a sickass drummer...

Yeah, when they post metal bands like that, they are either posers naming well-known real metal bands to get in, or don't know many metal bands, which this thread will hopefully help expand their knowledge of metal, I found out about a lot of good bands from posting here myself. But as long as they don't post bands like Slipknot or Rammstein, they have the right to join.

It's sad that so many people here on NG just talk and rant about the well known metal bands all the time? What about the lesser known but at times even better bands out there? I'd love to talk about Limbonic Art, Rotting Christ, Anorexia Nervosa, Behemoth, etc. here but very few people seem to know them or are not too lazy to check them out :(

Response to Metal Hell 2005-03-05 07:36:48

Or that most unkown of entities Belphegor. You don't see them in Kerrrap (Kerrang) weekly, OR Metal Hammer in the UK, two of the Biggest Rock and Metal mags respectly here.
