Drugs are bad...mmhhkay?
Seriously, I don't do much in the vein of drugs at all. I'm not a "being drunk guy". I'm always the designated driver and I have to look after some druggies. I left those "friends" a while ago. It's not that I'm a pussy; I've tried stuff. However, I'm the type of guy who likes to be in charge of his own decisions and to have no outside influence. However, caffeine doesn't count.
Here I am, bored with everything.

Yeah, a lot of kids in my school are getting drunk (it's the drug of choice around here) and they think they're so hardcore and shit. I'm always on the sidelines. I want to step in and tell them it's wrong but I'll get beat up and they're old enough to avoid bad stuff like that. They told me I'm going to be the designated driver. I think that when I come of age I'll rarely drink and be responsible and stuff.
There's nothing cool or "hardcore" about alcohol. It's just an enjoyable substance. For me, drinking is good fun.
I checked out Forest Of Impaled. Thanks to the awesome list provided by Charon.
They're really great. Something different for the Blackened Death Metal scene.
Brutal Death Metal with Black overtones?

I'm now a day removed from Dream Theater, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me, and Three. Some thoughts:
I thought generally it was pretty good, but BTBAM and Opeth were the highlights for me though Three put on a hell of a set. I loved the singer's acoustic guitar, it just looks awesome. That and how he plays it - seemingly by jamming his fingers into the strings - was impressive. I was very pleased with BTBAMs setlist and while they have their haters (I couldn't stand them until I got into Colors, and some of Alaska I like) the setlist was great. I only wish they played Son of Nothing (my second or third favorite Colors track) it was still excellent and they played spot on (I was impressed though I had heard bad things about their performances previously).
Opeth put on a really good show, and I was very excited that they opened with Demon of the Fall (even though Mikael forgot to turn the distortion off at the end). His banter was hilarious as always. They put on a damn good show (Wreath was amazing live, I think better than on the album), but all it did was make me wish they were headliners. I can't wait for the fall to see them again, more than any other band. No big complaints other than the mix for those three bands.
People may dislike what I'm about to write, but I thought the majority of Dream Theater's setlist was boring. They played a few songs off of Awake, but not a ton of good stuff. Too much wankery was abound, but what else is new. I can respect the musicianship, but not the ego. Petrucci looked like he was going to fuck his guitar, or fuck a picture of himself soloing. He made about 9000 "O" faces while playing (I was on the right side of the stage where he spent the majority of his time), culminating in a half-hour wankery solo per song. It was impressive, musically speaking, but pretentious as hell and boring by the end of the show. Solos aren't half as awesome when you get a long ass one every fucking song (occasionally that is by design, especially in DT songs, but not in EVERY FUCKING SONG). They cease to be amazing because it just floods and drives down the specialness of it. If for just a damn third of the songs they played he kept the solo down to like half a minute (as opposed to, more literally, three to five times that amount, at least it seemed), the effect would have been better. He had a duel with the keyboardist on his gay-ass keytar which was pretty cool (but that keytar looked fucking gay, it was silver and billowy. not good looking at all). I'll quickly admit I'm not a fanboy of the band, but I just wasn't all that impressed.
One cool thing is that I apparently was witness to the first live performance of the song Repentance and Mikael Akerfeldt did some guest vocals (twice actually - see following). It was too bad the fucking venue fucked up his wireless mic and he sang a few verses and most of the chorus without a working mic. Portnoy had him go back and run through it again, which was pretty cool. It sounded pretty awesome, and spiced up a pretty mellow song.
Otherwise though, maybe because I'm not a huge DT fanboy or whatever, I just wasn't that impressed. Maybe I should be, I don't know, but I wasn't. I'd see them again, however, just not for $50. Also, I was between one and four people-rows back for pretty much the entire concert so I got a pretty good view of the right side of the stage, but it got pretty packed so it was hard to move up after BTBAM. Still, pretty good over all, but I thought DT left a little bit to be desired.
Setlists below, let the flaming commence.
Also, the crowd sucked major dick. People complained, COMPLAINED about mine and other's moshing during Opeth and BTBAM's heavy shit. Some midget chick and her midget friends keep bitching at me: "stop moving into us" which I first ignored and then proceeded to move directly into them to piss them off. Its a fucking METAL show, deal with it. Such whiny bitching I have never experienced, even the parents in the crowd didn't say shit.
As far as the venue and acoustics were concerned, I thought the vocals were low in the mix for every band except 3. Even LaBrie's shrieks were drowned out by guitar and drums. They were pretty quick in between sets and the soundchecks were mostly silent which I thought was weird. Still, they screwed up the mix and I found that to be very annoying, especially during In My Time of Need. Still, I'd go back, but not for $50 tickets (and $35 shirts - give me a break, that's high as hell. I got a Dark Tranquillity necklace (for the g/f), flask and belt buckle for slightly more than that amount OR a Behemoth shirt and shot glass for that exact price - that was some nonsense).

I've heard off lots of people they weren't that good, maybe they just played better when I saw them :D.
And the venue I saw them at is brilliant.

There is an attitude in younger folk though that they have to get completely pissed all the time in order to be wicked coooool.
I just drink to be social, I'm less shy when drunk, helps me talk to strangers and whatnot. I'm far too lovely a person to ever get violent and abusive.
And while I no longer smoke weed, I'm not really against it. I don't want to do it for personal reasons, but its not something that really bothers me. Natural drugs are all fine by me, Bill Hicks style.
But I'm not really interested in trying... unless I'm at a festival.

deffinatly, i hate the attitude that a sober night is a bad night, i hate to drink too much for several reasons firstly i like to be incontrol of myself and secondly there is a tipping point, when i pass it no matter how good the night has been i become incredibly depressed so i avoid drinking lots and still have a good time :)
In terms of other drugs i dont like smoking and i cant drink coffee or tea as it makes me pee like crazy, and illegal substance wise i havent tried anything i may at some point give it a go but i wont seek them out :)

I re-read that line and realised you said "I panicked at the disco once", not "I enjoyed Panic at the Disco once." Well, that's OK, but if you actually liked Panic at the Disco...No big to me. I really don't fucking care about the band or anyone liking them.

That pretty much applies the same to me exactly.
Although on rare occasion I do like to get absolutely wasted. I don't know why but every once in a while it feels good.
I don't understand how people get violent after drinking, but I have noticed it is usually the feral welfare bludgers that are the ones most prone to getting aggressive.

@Nev: Those two songs were the highlight of their set. :p They were pretty awesome.

I should say that I'm not a big fan of newer Dream Theater. The last album of theirs I really, really liked was Metropolis Pt. 2 so the three songs off of Systematic Chaos, the one off of Six Degrees, and some of the medley didn't sound too great. I'll be honest, I definitely am biased because I probably don't like DT as much as their average fan. I do like them, and I do respect their talent, I just am not tremendously impressed. Plus they didn't play metropolis pt. 1, which is vying for my favorite DT song. Thus the bias. :P
Uhh, The Dark Nintendo Night? lol.
Its a music video they project on the backdrop (there were animations and videos projected on the backdrop the entire show, and the backdrop was a projector screen, just to clairfy - a really big one :p) where they overlap the music from Super Mario Bros. for the NES and The Dark Eternal Night. Portnoy is Mario, LaBrie was the princess, other members had bit parts while it played, it was actually pretty funny and it sounded good. See if it isn't on youtube or something.

Ok:
Dream Theater
Prototype
Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath (classy, but still metal)
Testament
Metallica
Megadeth
Pantera
Behemoth
Slayer
Dragonforce
Iced Earth
A little more than 10, my bad.
I like all kinds of metal, not just death metal or thrash or whatever.
eh.
Yeah I think In Flames is also alright, but their earlier stuff is better. Now they are all old and calm.
eh.
I just saw Finland's Eurovision entry. It was amazing.
Now watch it lose to some crappy, gimmicky pop act from an obscure country just because all the other countries like that country.

It sucked balls. Balls that belong to some obscure mammal.
I think it fitted right in there.
Since I randomly decided to check in here again, here a band I recomend: Warning. Traditional doom at it's finest, certainly on their second cd, 'the strenght to dream'.
I think I just did the impossible:
I discovered Slipknot's (yes the infernal mallcore kiddies) long lost demo, Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat and it's actually, dare I say it, good.
It's actually, metal. In fact, it's very Mr. Bungle reminiscent.
Here's the blasted link.
That's one of the songs that's really funky and actually metal.
I hate myself for finding this.

All right, so Paganfest was two nights ago. The gig went well, except it left most of my body sore. My arms and legs are still aching, and I slept for most of today and yesterday.
The bands played in this order: Tyr (played only 4 songs, 1 song per album), Eluveitie, Turisas and Ensiferum. Turisas was probably my favorite band of the night, with Ensiferum being a close second. I don't have the exact setlists memorized, but I knew the vast majority of the songs and I sang along to several of them such as Inis Mona, Your Gaulish War, Battle Metal, Ahti, One More Magic Potion, Guardians of Fate and Token of Time.
Here are all the pics I have. I couldn't take any more after Tyr because the crowd started getting way too frenzied once Eluveitie started playing.
Turisas walking together on 42nd Street (ignore the guy in the blue and white striped shirt since he's just a tourist)

I believe that's what happened. I heard Finland's Eurovision entry once a few months ago, but can't quite recall it now. However, I'm pretty sure it was better than the majority of the trash on that show. All I saw on Eurovision was the first half of the voting results. All I could hear from my parents at the time was bitching about how they waste their tax pay on Eurovision and reckon they should drop out. While I think they're right, the problem is that they bitch about it every year.
