Itunes doesn't know shit about music.

They put Einstürzende Neubauten as "classical." Also bands make their genres funny things, like MSI making their genre "gospel/spiritual" when they're nothing of the sort. Itunes is not a place to go if you want to know a genre.

dope are industrial rock by the way

I recently discovered a technical thrash/power metal band called Realm. I plan on getting albums by this band. I also may get some Zebulon Pike. I didn't get to heard much, but the bit I got to hear sounded good.

At 4/10/08 03:51 PM, batman64 wrote: Question: For those who are fans what do you consider to be Dream Theater's best release yet?

Their best stuff ever:

Images and Words
Awake
a Change of Seasons (just for the title track)

I would definitely say Megadeth is among the best thrash along with Overkil, early Exodus, and Annihilator's first two albums.

New album is tentatively scheduled to come out this year. I am excited and apprehensive. Could be great, or could be un-great. Who knows?

if you're trying to join, list 9 more metal bands you like.

Nine more? Easy.

1) Megadeth (already stated)
2) 3 Inches of Blood (Cam Pipes has an excellent voice, and the songs rule)
3) Killswitch Engage (Adam and Howard are awesome)
4) Metallica (duh, every good metalhead cut his teeth on them)
5) Soilwork (awesome vocalist, good guitar work)
6) Arch Enemy (Awesome chick vocalist!)
7) Slayer (saw them live on the Unholy Alliance tour, they were excellent)
8) Lamb of God (awesome guitar work, saw them on UA tour too)
9) Children of Bodom (Alexi Laiho is a genius, UA tour again)
10) As I Lay Dying (hate the vocalist, good guitar work)
There are more, but those are the first ten I thought of.
Can I be 'in' now?

Sorry to double-post, but my favorite Dream Theater's album (that I'm aware of) is definitely Train of Thought, just for 'As I Am'. Not to say any of the others are not amazing as well (A Change of Seasons is absolutely epic), but I just really like that song.

Recent acquirements:
Falkenbach: ...Magni Blandinn Ok Megintiri...
Falkenbach: Heralding - The Fireblade
...and Oceans: The Symmerty of I - The Circle of O

Loving the Falkenbach, and haven't really gotten a chance to give ...and Oceans a good listen yet.

Not too bad, but you really need to work on your finger work. Try not to pull them away from the fretboard so much.

Though I really don't agree on your statement on St. Anger being underrated.

Excellent. I will.

Out of curiosity, does anyone enjoy the newest Megadeth album, 'United Abominations'?
I think it's an excellent album, but a lot of people diss on it in reviews, and whine about how everything after 'Rust in Peace' sucks balls. Opinions?

United abominations is great. The best songs on it are Gears of War, Sleepwalker and Blessed are the dead. Rust in peace might be their best album, but not everything after it sucks.
...Just Risk.

Actually, you're right there. I remember buying some songs from there and it felt like a waste, most especially I wanted them in MP3 format. Converting them just fucked up the tracks completely. :( I'm much happier with buying CDs.

Bullshit! Megadeth have made awesome albums since then. Countdown to Extinction and Youthanasia are brilliant albums. The System Has Failed is a great album. Cryptic Writings and The World Needs a Hero are also good albums, but do have some weakness. IMO, the only Megadeth album since Rust In Peace that "sucks balls" is Risk. I never ever want to listen to that album again.

I agree totally.

But my guitar teacher is a huge Megadeth fan among many other things, and he actually quite likes it.
Especially Prince of Darkness and Crush 'Em.

Speaking of my guitar teacher, you guys should check out his band. Here.

I think they have a new album coming out soon, actually.
The reunited a few years ago, and I think they made a few announcements about it, which will likely be on their website.

Agreed. Sweet fucking band.

3) Killswitch Engage (Adam and Howard are awesome)

I don't like them to be honest...

4) Metallica (duh, every good metalhead cut his teeth on them)

Hahaha, I liked Metallica a lot from the time I was 6 years old, up until a few years ago.
I still like them, but I don't like admitting it, because they are over rated.

5) Soilwork (awesome vocalist, good guitar work)

Haven't heard enough to decide.

6) Arch Enemy (Awesome chick vocalist!)

Few sweet songs, nothing special.

7) Slayer (saw them live on the Unholy Alliance tour, they were excellent)

Slayer is bad ass, although I don't listen to them a whole lot anymore.

8) Lamb of God (awesome guitar work, saw them on UA tour too)

I don't mind them.

9) Children of Bodom (Alexi Laiho is a genius, UA tour again)

10) As I Lay Dying (hate the vocalist, good guitar work)
