Thats your opinion dude

If I list a bunch of bands and say they are metal, it's also my opinion.
If those bands were say U2, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Green Day, etc.

Then I'm totally wrong regardless of my opinion of them.

Which in this case you listed bands that are clearly NOT Metal.

I consider Metalcore and Nu-Metal as metal, because... there is a lot of specific similarities with a lot of other metal styles.
The difference's outweigh the similarities.
Yeah... just like Power Metal and Black Metal are fucking different... but still... both of those are considered metal... but not metalcore? nah, you can't change my mind with that kind of argument, but maybe if you could bring a little more points, maybe I could understand why you guys try to keep metalcore out of metal music...

PM and BM share similarities with Metal because they actually play it. They incorporate heaviness speed, aggression into there music. They write songs to a specific structure that applies primarily to Metal.

Whilst Metalcore on the other hand uses Hardcore Punk/Emo influences to write there music. Yes, they also use some metal as well, I'm not denying that. But just because they do, doesn't make them Metal.

Hardly.
Hardly? please... you probably know All That Remains... if those drums are not metal, tell me what the fuck they are.

Because drums determine the genre.

That's true and I never denied that. As I said, if I want to examine the roots of all that is heavy metal, I could go back to 50s blues, Hendrix' influence on leads, etc. but I was basically talking about the modern classification of these techniques, and in the case of doublebass, "The Who" definitely set their mark.

I hope that I could at least make some people understand what's metal with my post on the last page.

Armoured Saint - Who?

Wintersun are still working on their second album. It seems there's yet another delay for the album since May is too soon now considering the lack of information I've heard from them over the last few months. Damn, they really are taking their "Time" on this album.

Too light at most parts, then they try to be heavy. Like, Death metal heavy, and fail.

That's an oversimplified version, but yes.
For example:
DIS IS TO TEH RATS!!!!1!one1111!

So, I had to re-'buy' A Matter of Life and Death, and in my time without it, I forgot that while other old bands may attempt to beat the dead horse of their career and it may attempt to get back up, when Iron Maiden do it, the horse jumps the fuck up and does a few backflips.

Also, remember how no bands sing about Dinosaurs? Well, I took the liberty of writing a song about a Liopleurodon.

Okay having heard and loved Jesu I was naturally interested in a Black/Shoegaze band from France called Alcest so I checked out their first full length and it's incredible. It really makes me want to check out more Shoegaze. So if anyone has any Shoegaze recommendations it would be nice if you could shoot them my way.

And while I'm talking about them, to anyone who likes Jesu (Sense Offender and Idio are the only ones I know of) or just generally anyone looking for some uplifting music that's slightly black metal influenced please check out Alcest's Souvenirs d'un autre monde.

Get My Bloody Valentine's album "Loveless." It's fantastic. My Bloody Valentine are the most important shoegaze band, in my opinion, as they basically set the groundwork for all other shoegaze bands to come.

Here are some other shoegaze bands, and bands related to shoegaze, influencing shoegze or taking influence from it:
M83
Sigur Ros
The Jesus and Mary Chain
Ride
Swervedriver
Mew
Silversun Pickups
The Verve
Catherine Wheel
Slowdive

now that i'm talking about it, i'm gonna go listen to some shoegaze...

On a few things:

I'm skipping school.

Le Secret will always be better than Souveniers IMO.

Dream Theater's best release is either Awake or Images and Worlds.

I don't have class tomorrow, so I'm getting hammered in true collegiate fashion.

and Bill, I still think Baroness is over-rated. But more power to you man, glad you enjoyed it.

as I impress my opinions on everyone. Muahahahahahahaha

While I'm sure I'll probably listen to Jesu more overall, it was awesome to hear similar music but with the Black Metal influence. They're both very similar but in many ways are both justifiably different.

And speaking of Justin I'm interested in checking out Godflesh. Where do you think I should start?
