So after looking through my dad's Bass Player magazine, I saw a little section talking to the bassist of Strapping Young Lad about his tuning (GCGCG, holy shit) and I decided to listen to them after hearing overwhelmingly positive things about it.
Long story short, RECOMMENDATIONS NOW! I already know that I should get City, anything else from SYL, DTB or his solo stuff?

I need to get some DTB/Solo myself.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.
I recently discovered Necrophagist. Awesome band.
I might get more into death metal.
Anyone have recommendations for a start?
There's so many death metal bands and I don't know where I should start ;P

Thanks Kidd, that means a lot.

I know I'm mentioned.

Overall I actually prefer Ziltoid to his older stuff. There are great songs on all the albums I have by Devin (Triumph, Random Analysis, Suicide, Earth Day), but on the (admittedly little) listens I think Ziltoid is a funner album. Easier to enjoy :).
I actually really want to make a musical based on the album. I can just see the action running in my head :). Cheesey dancing and the like :).
And based on the first song, I think I'm going to find that Onset of Putrefaction is better than Epitaph.

Happy Birthday! Enjoy it. You're present shall be another year's worth of witty one-liners, and a continuance of a life outside of the internet. :p. Seriously though, have a great day and get hammered.

I've listened to both of this albums extensively, and its hard to judge based upon the first song. IMO, Onset is a little less structured but not as technically immaculate. So if you enjoy more "songy" songs, you'll probably like Onset more. If you get tech-gasms and like more rigid sounding - well, almost everything, even though his skill is so damn impressive - look more towards Epitaph.
Even if you do like Onset more, listen to Ignominious and Pale, and Seven. The solo for Ignominious is fucking ridiculous, one of my favorite solos ever. Seven is a great song. Epitaph is pretty good too. Though I think both entire albums are awesome, IMO.

I meant the first song of Onset. I've listened to Epitaph and good many times. I just though Foul Body Autospy seemed a lot more melodic.

Thanks bud. I can't get hammered because I'm only 20; one more year.
I'm going out with my family to a great restaurant in NYC called Serendipity's, have you heard of it?

I see your video, and raise you this: Ignominious and Pale. You do have to click on it because of that damn applet, but watch it anyway. Seven is there as well.
Sorry for the misconception, Nev, and I agree - Onset is definitely more melodic.
@Idio: fucking great rec man - surprised I haven't gotten into these guys yet (I've heard of them) because I'm a big Queens of the Stone Age homer. Good shit, man.

I've never been there, but now I'm intent on googling it. There's too much I don't know about NYC - I grew up around Philly and I know that city pretty well, but I've only been to NY maybe three or four times. :p. I need a tour guide. (not really). You need to let me in on all the good small venues. :P In return, I'd do the same if you ever get near Philly. Also. see other post.

Goddamn it Nev. Homer equates to a fanboy in some circles (mostly sports fans, to my knowledge). Anyway, its a term that indicated that in my opinion, QOTSA (or what/whom ever I (or you or anybody) am being a homer about) is awesome and can do no wrong. I think it is derived from homo, not sure about that though.
