yes i also have this problem my dad dislikes all music that isnt classical jazz if me and my sister are in the car listening to standard mainstream radio and if there is a rap song or hip hop he will mute the radio and speel off some crap about how its not real music blah blah blah.

but my mum is the total opposite she couldnt care less about what music i listen to. i played Marduk to her (which is the heaviest cd in my collection) and whilst she obviously hated it she didnt care about me listening to it. and out of my two parents she is the stricter. oh well that is life, oh and thanks for the ending to your message it conjures up many thoughts each progessively worse then the other. thank you and only 5 mins till new year in the UK wooo

My parents don't really care what I listen to, and my dad actually does like some of the older metal i listen to, like sabbath, priest, and maiden. But my friends at school and other people I know do discrimate against the music I listen to like; Dude that music Suxxorz listen to some rap. I'm fucking sick of it >.<

Bottom Line: Metal is discrimated agaisnt, it needs to stop.
What should we do: Dont listen to people who diss your music, ignore it.

I've been going through a gunge addiction, especially recent days. After hearing Alice in Chains "Them Bones" on Radio X on GTA San Andreas, I went out and bought Dirt. Fucking miles better than all the Nu-Metal shit "grungers" today listen to in Britain. The whole grunge thing hit U.K a little late, and almost none of them know true original grunge bands aside from Pearl Jam and Nirvana. None know who L7 are, who Alice in Chains are, who Rage Against The Machine, Sound Garden, or Boy Jim are! Or even (at a streach, a sorta grunge based band) Terrorvision!!! And I'm supposed to be 'just a stupid goth'!!

I have no Idea what happend to the Grundge crew, I tried searching for Grundge on the NG BBS and I didn't find shit. Personnaly I don't like grundge that much, But I did go through a Grundge addiction before I got into metal, It was the phase of my life when I stopped listening to Punk, and started to check out better types of music, which eventually led me to become a Metalhead.

yeah i love grunge a lot . I live in washington (only about 2 hours from olympia, abeerdeen, and seattle) so i guess most would consider that to be pretty normal. Whats really sad is when people around here dont even know who Nirvana is, i find that really depressing.

Yeah most of the time i just tell my dad to fuck off and then i turn my music up louder. Haha then i have a whole bunch of other problems on how i need to act more girly and say such terrible things. Oh well only 2 1/2 more years.

Yeah, I get a lot of questions about why i listen to metal, after a while it gets a little annoying. And like a mentioned before a lot of people diss my music, this one guy at my school wants to kick my ass because I listen to metal.
